At level 36, I have some complaints.

Post » Mon May 28, 2012 12:45 am

9: This is inexcuseable: Every time a quest requires that someone other than Uthgerd follow me into a dungeon, Uthgerd is gone when I return. I use the console to bring her back to me and find that EVERYTHING in her inventory has been stripped out for no reason, even though her dialog options indicate she is still following me. I've tried sending her home beforehand only to find her not there and, when I console-teleport her back she's lost everything again anyway. I teleported myself to HER at one point and ended up http://i.imgur.com/R3znp.jpg. It made me sad.
I'm pretty sure player.placeatme spanws a NEW version of Uthgerd. Just go look at her usual waiting point (the tavern) and skip a couple hours. If your current version of Uthgerd is one that was spawned through the console in the first place though, it seems her home point will be somewhat at random where you left her for the first time since she was created.

Don't complain about "bugs" when you caused them yourself with the console :D

1: Biggest complaint: The sheer number of things that randomly attack you on the way to anywhere at all. On the road (the ROAD, not the middle of the woods, the ROAD that everyone travels on) between the Valtheim Towers and Riften I counted no less than 3 attacks from bears who were sitting in the middle of the road and two simultaneous Troll attacks. That's idiotic. The forest should be dangerous but you should at LEAST be able to stay on the apparently well-travelled road for more than a minute without 3 wolves, a bear, giant spider, troll and 2 more trolls barreling at you cause you killed their cousins one minute ago during the last attack. Especially annoying considering the awesomely ultra-realistic way that my character is utterly helpess and vulnerable while riding a 700-pound war horse. That's okay cause if I get attacked I can just hit E and, within the hour, he'll be off the horse and ready to ragdoll into a tree while pulling out his weapons. Then the horse will run 10 miles up the road to fight 2 more bears.

2: Stop telling me I'm detected when it's my own horse that detects me.

3: The hot keys do not work for dual wielding. How this got by testers I do not know. I really should be able to just hold shift or something when assigning hotkeys to assaign something to the left hand.

4: Are there no execution animations for dual wield either? I've only ever seen them when I accidentally kill someone with just one weapon. If true, very disappointing for dual-wield assassin.

5: The post-process contrast stuff that darkens the screen when you look into fire is REALLY irritating. Especially because it happens wether you look into fire or not. If that waterfall is slightly whiter than its surroundings, then that water fall is all you're allowed to see for the next few seconds. I've found this effect particularly obnoxious in Markarth.

6: Frequency of dragon attacks. At around the 40th time one showed up I was just rolling my eyes and saying ugh, I'm in the middle of something, go away.

7: NPCs are way too talkative. I did not ask if you work the mill, or if it is fulfilling or if it pays well. I didn't ask because this is the 100,000th time you've volunteered the information while I sprinted past you.

8: The horse can run off on its own but no one thought to give it a map marker or something? After every battle I have to climb a rock and try to spot my horse among the trees. Surely that will never get old. Let me guess: 'eh, the modders will do something about it'.

1. if you don't want attacked by those, stay out of their sight or move a bit father from their 'this-is-my-line-biatch!'

2. yeah, I kinda freaked out when I sneak and detected. it was my horse. I guess he like to play pranks on sneaky people

3. it worked fine on me

4. there is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EANe0HqYJI8

5. yeah. bethesda somehow wants to take real life cornea effects to brightness and darkness. but this is a bit too much

6. no. if you feel like don't want fight dragon, simply just run.

7. uh huh... okay... so... what?

8. why you don't fast travel to nearest place you stand

9. never experienced that. sorry.

The only one I agree with you about is the horse. But traveling the roads at your lvl 36 (I'm 35 and have been doing this since I started the game) I just keep on running if i don't feel like fighting anything. Which is most of the time.

I was about to say the same thing. You're complaining about companions messing up when you're clearly screwing with the game through excessive use of the console?

Most dungeons should be very hard to get through without a light source. This is a good thing. I actually find myself occasionally having to use my Khajiit's Night Eye power now, unlike unmodded Oblivion. I wish there was more of a need for torches/light spells/night eye.

One of the few mod ideas I fully support is a removal of most of the light sources in dungeons, like candles that have been burning for 3000 years. Imagine going through one of those with only your torch to guide you, and then you see two blue eyes from a Draugr in the darkness.

I'm playing a female Nord Archer/dual wield swords character and I get execution animations CONSTANTLY. And for the record, they are bad ass.

It's kind of unfair that farmers can walk perfectly peaceful along the road from Solitude to Windhelm (obviously expecting to survive the journey with just an iron knife and a regular farmers outfit), while I - a level 40 Dragonborn in Legendary Glass Armor with Legendary Glass Bows and more perks than they have bottles of ale in their inventory, have to sneak carefully in the shadows at night to get the upper hand against all the bears, trolls and dragons that might be after me.

Take him, he's got no defence, and is not even a Dragonborn!

The reason your companion's inventory is stripped is you are using the console, all you do is your current mission and then go back and find your companion, Lydia will be at Whiterun's Dragonreach unless you have a home, go back get her to follow again and bingo. The game is set up so you can only have one companion, it's not a bug

1. I cannot say I get attacked often on the roads. When I go off-road I often hit a bear or wolves. Considering the wilderness here is supposed to be harsh and savage and full of animals and other nasty things I do not get bothered. What was ugh to me is following a dog for a Daedra quest and I had to run across Skyrim on foot and every time an enemy came ever close he would attack it.

2. On my 36 assassin/thief this can be annoying but I don't see too many times where I am near my horse to be detected by it. I tend to spend a lot of time in dungeons so my horse doesn't pose a problem for me.

3. Which hot keys are you talking about? I am unsure. I dual wield on my 40 main and I just have his weapons favorite and just Q then left/right click the option for each hand.

4. The cutting off of heads which has been noted amuses me but like all the KD animations it gets old after about 30 times, but that's just like anything out there.

5. Cannot say I have noticed or had the same issue.

6. I do agree with you on this. The difficulty of Dragons can be boring, once I try them on master difficulty I will see. I mean.. taking down Alduin was no fun for me. It was like any other dragon fight really, except they added meteor showers.

7. This can get old but I ignore it. It's their way of making little non-important npc characters be a part of the world. I wouldn't mind if they did not always say it when your cross-hairs pass over them, or you had to E for some of them.

8. Irritating yes but if I want my horse I just fast travel and he pops right up. I rarely ride though, just never cared to.

9. Sounds like a bug of course, I have never had this issue. I have had Lydia not appear for some time when I added her to the blades and then told her to go home so I could go get married and do some sneaky stuff.

Psssh. If you're playing on Master difficulty I bet that Farmer can tank two dragons and a snow bear all at once.

I always think the same thing. I literally wonder how there is a living farmer left anywhere in Tamriel. The other day I come upon this little mill by the water. There's a little boy in the yard who wants to play tag. All the while I'm thinking, "Play tag!?! Kid, turn around. There's a cave bear and two giant frostbite spiders having a battle royale in your back yard! I'm out of here"

I too find this effect annoying.

But what is it called? Pupil adjustment effect? Eye-adjusting-to-light effect? If I knew what it was called I could try finding a way to turn it off.

I agree mostly with the OP on this.

I would also add the AI of your followers REALY needs some improvement. Wandering about a dungeon avoiding pressure plates only for your follower to step on every single one as they follow behind is amusing the first time, subsequent times it's just :brokencomputer: ... The worst case was going to Bleak falls with the elf dude as a companion, get to the bit with the swinging gate, I creep past, he steps on plate, KERUNCH, "Ugh!", he goes into mercy mode, collects his thoughts, steps forward, and, KERUNCH, "Ugh!" :banghead: ... I sat and watched him do this for a good few minutes while the kettle boiled. He eventually caught up once I transitioned to the next area, miraculously teleporting himself right next to me, none the worse for his swinging door autism. :whistling:

Here's a vaguely amusing screenie, another follower with a desire for warmth steps on every fire trap in the dungeon...

Learn to Fast Travel/use carriages... or stop dying to trolls. Also, learn how to dismount before you run over the top of a mob. This isn't WoW.

2: Stop telling me I'm detected when it's my own horse that detects me.

Stop letting your horse see you.

3: The hot keys do not work for dual wielding. How this got by testers I do not know. I really should be able to just hold shift or something when assigning hotkeys to assaign something to the left hand.

Can you not re-assign every keybinding manually if you so desire?

4: Are there no execution animations for dual wield either? I've only ever seen them when I accidentally kill someone with just one weapon. If true, very disappointing for dual-wield assassin.

There are plenty of animations for this. You obviously don't know how to trigger them.

I do not have this problem on the PS3. What are the specs on your computer?

6: Frequency of dragon attacks. At around the 40th time one showed up I was just rolling my eyes and saying ugh, I'm in the middle of something, go away.

Again, learn to fast travel.

7: NPCs are way too talkative. I did not ask if you work the mill, or if it is fulfilling or if it pays well. I didn't ask because this is the 100,000th time you've volunteered the information while I sprinted past you.

Turn NPC Speech off (duh).

8: The horse can run off on its own but no one thought to give it a map marker or something? After every battle I have to climb a rock and try to spot my horse among the trees. Surely that will never get old. Let me guess: 'eh, the modders will do something about it'.

Again, try parking your horse further away from the battle so you don't have to worry about them getting into battle... or learn to play and get Shadowmere.

I teleported myself to HER at one point and ended up http://i.imgur.com/R3znp.jpg. It made me sad.

This is probably your only legitimate complaint, and thus should probably be better asked in the tech support or bug reporting forum... or, just stop using console commands and see if she comes back naturally.

Horses are more of a drawback than they're worth, so I don't use them -- and thus experience none of the frustrations that they're causing others. Anyway I like finding my down cliffs, exploring the bottoms of rivers and lakes, and other things unfriendly to quadrupeds.

I wonder if random encounters are more burdensome for horse-riders because the horse represents another ally to aggro the enemies. Especially in the case of dragons, who can decide to fly away or attack something else nearby.

Companions bumped by a quest NPC head home to where you first met them. Using the console to "bring them back" just creates a copy of that NPC with the same scripts, but it's still the one that went home that has the equipment you've given them.

I also have a ridiculous annoyance with the sheer amount of random encounters, going from markarth to windhelm; get on horse; gallop away from the city and across the bridge; hear wolf howling; get off horse; kill wolves; get on horse; ride for 30 seconds; hear sabre tooth take a bite out of my horse's ass; realize Im out of the pitiful amount of stamina they give the horse to run; get off horse and address problem; get on horse; jot down the road; stumble on some forsaken in the middle of the road; get off horse while they fill it with arrows; kill;jot;dismount;kill;jot;dismount; repeat ad nauseum

it really wouldn't be as bad if they doubled the stamina the horses get, so I dont have to trot all the time specifically in case I get ambushed by wolves and dont feel like getting off my horse to address it, my horse usually has just enough stamina to get out of the aggro zone

Dragons are a huge annoyance too, to the guy from 1985 who is scolding the whipper snappers because he was lucky to have a ring and stick to push down the road, we are comparing current games and tech to current games and tech, while Im sure most would agree this game is awesome, that doesn't mean it couldnt be better or learn a couple things from other current gen titles, but saying a game is untouchable because you are comparing it to tech from 25 years ago is called a strawman argument; congrats

And if I want to actually see the exploration game I just paid 60 bucks for? and the issue isn't me dying, its the annoying animals coming up to nibble my horse every 30 seconds

Well you are lucky they wasnt hidden behind trees, rocks, etcs while you pass by, that would be even more annoying. On the middle of the road is nothing, they should have something got the bears, saber tooth cats or any other wild beasts that have been drawn into, should be a corpse or something in the middle of the road along with the beasts.

its not JUST a exploration game, a good majority of it i combat...so you want to walk around and look at te flowers witout having to hurt anyone...cute.

statistically the avg time it take a human to become disinterested in looking at someting is 8 seconds where they ahve scanned enough of it and it no longer presents new or shiny.

so im grateful for the combat the game offers me, wait for a mod called skyrim:hello kitty island edition

I really hate that issue with the key-binding

Several people have said that if you hotkey one of the weapons to your main-hand and you switch between a bow or a two-handed weapon and your dual-wield combo, there's no problem
That's true, but it doesn't mean there's no problem at all. I often dual-cast Muffle or a healing spell in between and that changes my off-hand preference, so when I then press the hotkey for my one-handed weapon I don't automatically have the other one added to the other hand anymore

If you can follow.

It's just absurd that you can't hotkey a combination of weapons or atleast have seperate hotkeys for your left hand

what i hate is when i am trying to reach somewhere, and if i could walk there in a straight line it would only take 20 seconds, but because its at the top of a big mountain it ends up taking 40 minutes because i am trying to climb big slopes all the time and cant find the path, and somehow this has turned into the worlds longest sentence.

I used to love the Dragons but their frequency is begining to bother me-alot. I have 50, yeah 5 0, souls to spend but i have all the shouts and i haven't even finished the main quest yet on this play through. What the hell am i supposed to do with them all? It makes fighting more dragons pointless and frustrating. I just can't be bothered now. Perhaps Beths could have introduced some other way to spend the souls too.
