It's so frustrating not having a new episode this week!!!!!!!!

I also thought there were going to be new episodes all the way through :(

This episode is kind of eh so far. Widmore isn't as involved as I feel like he should be, and with only a few episodes left I'm worried they'll have to reveal a bunch of stuff really quickly, and that just wouldn't be good.

Spoiler
I did like that Kate got shot, even though I'm sure she'll survive. But what the hell man? Sayid goes back to normal and they kill him off? Now it looks like they're killing Sun and Jin too? By the end of it everyone is going to be dead at this rate.

+ Sayid + Frank

Been a while since I shed a tear for a tv show.

This episode had my heart pounding for half of it, because I knew something like this was going to happen eventually, I just knew it.

I missed the part, what did Sayid say to the guys about Desmond before he took the bomb?

The only thing I caught is that he said evil dude wants him dead.

I forgot about Frank! So did the other characters though. We don't know for sure if he's dead though, and with Lost that usually means he'll be back... I hope. They can NOT let Kate live through a gunshot in the chest and kill Lapidus with a damn door.

Which, I take to mean, that Jack is the Candidate. Of course, nothing is certain and the producers have proven that they are not afraid of killing anyone. One thing is finally 100% clear, Flocke (Smokey, Puff, whatever. Don't call it Locke.) is evil. I don't think anyone can even think otherwise now, given what he just tried to do (and partially succeeded) to the Candidates.

I will really miss this show. I just hope some of the characters make it haha

Yeah, they're really setting Jack up to be the guy in this season, but I'm hoping they'll try to shock us all and make it someone else. Like Hurley. Please make Hurley the new Jacob!

Jack I'm pretty sure was right about the whole "rules" thing, they have to kill each other or something, otherwise Smoke Locke would have killed them all and flown away on his own..... but it's not like Sawyer was going to believe Jack after what happened with Juliet, so good set up with that.

I guess Sun and Jin forgot about, you know, their daughter in all that. Nice parenting job.

I hope Clair turns on the smoke monster, she seems to be slowly getting an idea that, hey, you know, he's crazy.

Can't wait for Desmond to come back.

Really want to know who the smoke monster's "mother" is, who he said was crazy, will they reveal it or make us try to piece together some mythos hidden in the background? (There's a lot of Egyptian looking motifs scattered throughout the background)

Is Widmore really the "good guy" who just believes "the ends justify the means"? He seems to be pretty much a jerk, but is privy (or acquired) all kinds of information. He was on the island before with the others, as Locke ran into him as he was flashing through time last season. But somehow Widmore got off the island, became a powerful corporate figure, but was still trying to figure out where the island was- whereas it seems like Richard could move freely on his own accord, Widmore seems like he had to go through a lot of trouble.

Still a lot of questions.

Maybe they thought they were not getting off the island plus the daughter is safe with family. I think Jin is not dead, from my perspective. Maybe I missed a scene while watching for me to think like this.

In the last scene of them underwater their hands are together, but then drift apart underwater. Jin said that he'd never leave Sun. I think the only reason the hands would come apart would be a symbolic way to signify that they are dead, and Jin has no way of keeping his promise anymore.

Man, killing off half the main characters in a single episode! With all these deaths and the alternate timeline, they're making me care less and less about how it turns out in the end. Just finish it already!

Yes, I sort of agree.

Watching Sun and Jin die was less sad for me than it was, "oh man.... now we are going to spend 10 minutes watching them die.... answer a question already!

Sounds heartless, because I really do like Sun and Jin...... but we only have a few more episodes left and not much time to dawdle!!!

Plus they're okay in the alternate timeline :P

Wow, this is just a very big misunderstanding on Jack's side.

First the bomb was meant for him, because he chose to stay on the island. I mean MIB was begging for him to change his mind, warning him over and over, even threating him with death. But the guy is a natural born stubborn! :P

My reasons, there is no way MIB could knew things could happen that way. Bomb was meant for Jack. But with a last minute event, Jack finds himself in the submarine. At that point MIB shout to Sawyer "Sawyer!", because he didn't want them to DIE! It wasn't his plan to have Jack in the submarine with the bomb. He tried to stop them but they were already gone. (Probably he thought if I can convince him to get in the submarine, I can remove the bomb.)

And when he said "to finish what I have started", he meant Widmore's people(including Widmore).I gotta love how writers can trick us again about Locke's intentions, and again.

PS. I can relate to his idea of getting from the island. And I'm not buying the whole evil thing at all. He is just a guy having hard time to convince people, like Jack!

PPS. Jack maybe right about the direct killing thing, but that doesn't change anything about Locke being evil or not. He didn't show any intention of killing off Losties those aren't obsessed with the island.

PPPS. And I have to say that by leaving Claire behind for the third time, all Losties(or who left of them) earned a death warrant in my book.

PPPPS. I don't understand how Locke can feel/see about what happened to submarine, but can't know what happened to Desmond.

I disagree. I think Flocke knew exactly what would happen. If Flocke just wanted Jack dead, he never would have carried him off the beach during the Widmore attack. He would have left him there to die.

I think the bomb was meant for all of them. He needed them all in one place. He stopped Clarie from getting on the sub, telling her she didn't want to be on it. When Clarie said they were all dead, Flocke said not all of them were dead, and it's time to finish what he started. It seems he needs them ALL to die in order to be free. With all the them dead, there are no more candidates to take Jacob's place.

The preview for next week's episode looks good!

Hm, I think good arguments can be made both ways. Maybe since smoke Locke knew Jack had the bomb and was on the submarine, THAT'S why he said, "you don't want to be on the submarine". Not because had had planned it, but because he had just realized it then and there.

Then again, maybe it was planned.

I think that the writers are purposefully making this ambiguous. I have thought on multiple occasions that it could be getting set up for a twist. Especially with how Man in Black and Jacob (or rather, "the others") wind up saying the same things to people and using the same strategies. The whole "plunge it into his chest and don't let him talk to you" bit was really what got me thinking.

And you can't make a clear distinction between who is the "good guy" and who is the "bad guy", because both sides do extreme things to achieve their goal. The only "good" is success and the only "bad" is failure, so to that extent, MIB/Smokey/Locke is no worse off than any of the other major players on the show (Widmore, who is willing to use people like pawns, and Jacob, who is willing to stand by and watch people suffer, like Ben, and help them out in absolutely no way whatsoever).

So, part of me wants MIB to be the good guy. But he's also done some pretty bad things (namely, murder.... and murder.... and, oh yes, murder...) So..... just gotta wait and see.

WOWOWOWOWOWOWOW

EXCELLENT EPISODE!

A trip down the rabbit whole for sure, but we finally get some great backstory.

Spoiler
Totally sympathize more with the MIB, tragic story. Also, I find it kind of funny how he kept asking questions and his mom was just like, "you don't need to know." And he was like, "yeah, I do." And she was like, "no, you don't." I'm sure the anger he felt is a reflection of many Lost fans

Other than that, pretty straightforward, I thought. Kinda sad to know that the "black smoke" is a fate "worse than death". Then again, everyone was doing everything in a typically tragic manner: acting without thinking. Stabbing someone, then being like, "oh no, why did I stab you?" Then crying all over it.

Still.........

Where did the huge statue that Jacob lived under come from???????

Was this lady some sort of witch? Demi-god? People who have found the secret to immortality? No straight explanation, still a lot of stuff you have to "just get".

But still, very good.

So, does anybody else think that the season finale can't possibly answer everything? There is no way that three more hours of screen time (and that includes commercials) could possibly answer all the quesitons. Call me a pessimist, but I'm just calling it right now. We might get the basic skinny, but it's not even possible at this point to wrap up everything (like they claimed they would- liars!)

On a positive note, though, tonight's episode was very good, even if it didn't actually answer all that much, but rather give a small portion of the island's history.

I think the writers kind of hinted about that towards the beginning of this episode. Any answers we get will just bring up more questions.
