Lost, season 6.

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 2:32 pm

I uh, didn't say the entire series in all it's details like a screenplay. They made the general storyline of the series from the beginning.

Well yeah, that pretty much is what you said, but nevermind.

It's a TV show so obvioulsy things are gonna happen that are out of the writers' control, so they're forced to change stuff. I must admit on the whole I'm pleased the way they handled these instances though, especially with Eko, because even if they didn't want him to leave they gave his character a great send off.

And I must say I like the 6 season limit thing. It's running out of steam, yeah, but at least it wasn't cancelled. I'm still pissed off about Carnivale being killed off because it was pretty much the best TV show ever.

Lol? Watch the dvd's. It's stated many times.

I may very well be setting myself up for embarrassment with a link to a video with one of the show's creators saying "We are doing 6 seasons" early in the show's life, but I still don't really buy it. My reasoning is that if you look at the interviews with the creators of any show their answer to the question "How long would you like the show to go for?" is almost always 5-6 seasons. This makes sense because it will usually give them enough time to tell the story they want to tell and will be just short enough to prevent the show from "jumping the shark." I want to state that I completely believe that the creators of this show had a clear end-goal for the show. They wanted to tell a story that got from Point A to Point B plus a few key plot developments in between. When I said the best thing the show did was set a clear end date and set a certain number of episodes, I meant it was the best thing because it forced the writers to finish the story in a set amount of time which helped avoid the stretched-out plot developments and filler episodes that plagued Seasons 2 and 3.

YES! This show had the craziness of Lost with the high-end production values and writing that HBO always has. It was brilliant in its short time on the air.

And much, much better than Lost at the whole mythology thing.

Also, for those interested, there is brand new footage in http://spoilerslost.blogspot.com/2010/02/lost-season-6-new-promo-with-even-more.html Be warned though. I finally buckled and watched it, it's not particularly spoilerific, but if I were you I wouldn't look at anything else on that site. I've stayed pretty much spoiler free and I'm trying rather desperately to remain so.

I have considered having a hulu session/DVD session of the first five seasons (and catch up on my DVR with 6), but is this show really amazing or is it just some crazy fanatics I have as friends saying that? I get into philosophy, but I am still uncertain.

Personally I think it's really amazing. Some people dislike it because they can't follow it or simply don't understand it. But I've never met ANYONE who can give me a solid answer as to why they don't like it. It's really, really addicting, and hard to dislike.
The people who talk negatively about it can never say anything solid against it. It's always "well uh it's just uh you know, hard to understand and stuff it's stupid".
That's not a reason. ^_^ They just don't put the time into the show that it requires. And it requires a lot.

Can't wait :D Gonna be a blast. I'm getting ME2 (stupid Wal-Mart ran out of copies of the limited edition last week, so I preordered for nothing :() this afternoon, so I am in for a great day. It was a pretty quick eight months, now that I think about it. Feels like yesterday I was watching the season 5 finale.

Lost is good, but certainly not the best show on TV. A lot of people seem to think that for some weird reason. It's not. Some of the themes are cool... Sort of...

Anyways, I probably won't watch it tonight. I stopped watching during season 2 but I've been catching up since then. Still have season 5 to watch...

BTW: Why does everyone hate Kate?

Maybe because a lot of people have differing opinions/taste from you? :P It's my favourite show on TV, and because of that I consider it the best show on TV, but there isn't very much good TV anyways, so...

BTW: Why does everyone hate Kate?

I've never understood the hate either, but I don't question the people on the internet.

Over it now. It was sweet for the first season or two but then the writers just went all over the place trying to keep everyone interesting and it just turned into a big [censored] mess.

You know what makes great TV? Great Writing.

You know what ruins TV? Crappy Writing.

Too bad the same writers can be on both sides of this equation, usually forced there by Producers who want to keep the money train running.

It is a shame that this show went on as long as it did. Trying to keep that edge with a set cast and a set place like this is pretty much impossible. Sure, a season or three can be wringed out of a concept like this and keep it fresh, but go on too long and it either gets boring, or so weird that is beyond cool as they try too hard.

You know, I was disappointed in a good way while watching Lost. I thought it was going to be about these people trying to survive on an island, sort of like survivor but its not being passed off as real. So when i first saw the
Spoiler
wierd fog monster thing and the polar bear
I totally had a wtf moment. but I got into it, so what if it wasnt conventional. (if you actually follow the above wasnt much of a spoiler)

But it does air tonight, if it hasnt started already. I have my DVR set to record it on abc.

I think it would be more interesting if they would just go with the "how it all would happen if the plane didn't crash" thing. All the smoke monster stuff, everything on the island is just too confusing.

What. The. [censored].

I only caught half of the premier because after the recap hour and another hour... it was just too much LOST.

Anyone wanna give me a summary of what I missed?

Spoiler
Hurley talks to Jacob (cuz he's dead), Jacob tells him to take Sayid to the temple so he won't die. Asian guy is apparently the leader at the temple, blah blah blah, they drown Sayid in a pool of dirty bubbly water, he dies, comes back to life at the end of the episode. Oh yeah a Juliet didn't die at the end of last season, they dig some metal up and Sawyer goes in there but then she dies. Sawyer's all pissed off at Jack now. Oh yeah and then there's the part where they say what happens if the plane didn't crash. Basically Kate runs, Jack saves Whats-his-name from Lord of the Rings from choking on his drugs, people are racist, Jin has a buttload of cash, and John's still in a wheelchair.

Uhhh... I think that about sums it up...

Really? It wasn't that complex; older seasons were MUCH worse.

I'm interested in, of course, the whole "It worked" thing. How the [censored]?

I thought that episode was pretty boring to be honest. The alternate timeline in which there was no crash was boring and pointless. However, I'm curious to see where it goes. The only interesting bit was when Desmond was there because he wasn't on the plane originally.

Also, did anybody find the use of suspenseful music in this episode completely overdone to the point of being hilarious?
