Lost, season 6.

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 11:54 pm

Yes, it's a miracle that it's still going. 9 seasons, who would have thought? It has had its ups and downs, especially downs, but the current season has been pretty good so far.

Smallville/Clark has sure matured over the years. No more constant drooling over Lana, no simple 'freak of the week' stories anymore and Clark is finally acting more Superman'ish. edit: The two hour 'Absolute Justice' episode was awesome!

Anyway back on topic, I've just seen the first two episodes of Lost season 6. I wonder where they are going with all of this. It's a good thing this is the final season though.

Are they also airing two episodes in a row in the US?
Yeah, I stopped following Smallville after the season finale that he woke up in some snowy mountain or something. But that would be a different thread.

They usually do an encore, the new episode, then a Lost recap thing... or thats what they did last year. I think this is the second episode airing right now on ABC.

Yeah, they're only showing one at a time, with 2 hours for the season premiere and the finale.

Sooo tonight's is a Kate episode. Ugh... at least we get to see the guy from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Claire is an uberhottie, but why'd they have to make her such a bleeding moron in this episode? Seriously, she was almost as dumb as Kate.

Both Claire and kate are completely unlikeable as characters. ESPECIALLY Kate.

It goes like this (in order of svckiest to least svckiest):
Kate
Claire
Jack
Juliet
Ben
Jin
Sawyer
Smoke Monster
Locke
Jin before he could speak english
Hurley

Yeah, I was like "I dunno if Claire could be hotter" then she popped two dudes with a rifle. Full of surprises, this one. I'm glad she's back.

Well having read around the internet apparently this episode wasn't particularly popular (in fact I've seen it labelled as one of the worst episodes ever) but to be honest I don't think it was all that bad. I don't particularly like Kate given that she's been doing that annoying, self-serving flip-flopping thing for about 3 seasons now but at least in the second half of this episode she was somewhat bearable. I absolutely loved the scenes with Sawyer at the dock (I nearly shed a man tear) but then Sawyer's my favourite character so I'm pretty much pleased with whatever we get. Ethan being Claire's doctor was a nice touch, but I'm still unsure about the alternate timeline, I'll give it a few more episodes.

I think the biggest flaw with this was no Locke. They've built him up so much that it seems like we're missing something really important when he's not around.

My problem with this episode is that nothing really happened. I feel like if I hadn't watched it, I could still tune in next week and not miss a beat.

Yeah, I can see where you're coming from, but for me Lost is foremost about the characters, not about answers. I think this episode had more of a season one vibe where it doesn't really matter what happens, rather how the characters react to it. I certainly felt that with the Sawyer/Kate scenes, though I must say the bits at the Temple are starting to drag already.

Yeah but the thing about the first season was that they were actually developing the characters and the audience was getting to know them. We know Kate. We know she's annoying, manipulative, likes to hit people in the head, and run from the law. We're in the 6th season here, I don't need to see her running around anymore.

True enough. On the bright side I think her character arc is pretty much done/on a set course now (she's there to find Claire) so I doubt she'll have another centric episode.

Also, I'm glad they didn't add anymore love triangle [censored] even though they ample opportunity to do so. Maybe it's working its way to a resolution? I'd certainly hope so.

It was pretty good; at least one question is finally solved: the numbers.

Yeah I really liked that part. It was so funny when Locke aka the smoke monster asked Sawyer who he was talking to, sawyer said no one. He asked who the kid was, locke replied "what kid?"

Blasphemy! Lost is still great to me. I guess it's just because I understand it. Some people don't, and don't get hooked/interested. I mean, when people say lost makes no sense or whatever, I just don't get it. I completely understand everything that's happened up to date. Well, within the last 5 seasons. These last few episodes are throwing me with the alternate timeline, but, it'll get explained.

No... I understand it. I just don't enjoy it as much as I used to.

I think there's more to the numbers than just that...I mean back when that guy was mumbling the numbers over and over it's not like anyone knew who the last candidates would be. I think the candidates numbers being the numbers is just one more instance of the numbers turning up.

Last weeks episode was pretty good. I just knew claire was going to be crazy as hell. And she is. haha.
I STILL want to know about Christian though, one thing they have NEVER elaborated on as to WHY is on the island, why he isn't dead, why and how he seems to know so much about the island/jacob. Never even been touched on.

I don't quite remember every episode so sorry if this theory has been disproved already but isn't it possible that Christian on the island was just Smokey?
