What the heck. =/

Spoiler
I did the suicide mission again, and this time everyone survived. But the achievment did not unlock. It's not the achievement, it's just that I hope my ME2 save will carry forward all my squad!

I chose Legion as a tech specialist, Garrus led the team. They survived. I then chose Jack to create the biotic barrier, and 2 other loyal team mates with me. Garrus led the other team. Everyone survived. I put Thane in charge to go back to the Normandy with what was left of the crew, and they all survived.

Whyyyyyyyyyy!

Hmm, maybe your crew has to survive too? Did Kelly die? If so then that might be why. Not sure if the achievement is for the whole crew or just the squad members.

If you wait to long after the Collectors take your crew to jump through the Omega relay, half of them or more will die.

Pretty sure Kelly needs to survive, once the collectors abduct your crew you need to hurry right through the relay to save her. I recommend doing everything you want to do before installing the Reaper IFF.

Actually, you can do two loyalty quests before it's fully installed. That said, I'd suggest you
Spoiler
do Legion's, since he is recruited right after the IFF, and one other person's (most likely 2nd to last. I suggest Tali's, since there's some fun unique dialog when you bring Legion.)

Ah right. I did one more loyalty mission before heading out to get them. Oh well as long as my squad is intact.

After talking with
Spoiler
Legion
, I find that the Geth are kind of like humans; their governmental structure is close to what humans seem to aspire to, they seek individuality (of sorts), and other such things. In addition,
Spoiler
Legion thought it was very interesting how I pretty much emulated the Geth's choice to reject Old Machine technology by telling the Illusive Man to stuff it up his rear, and that I'm going to blow the station straight to hell. I'm also glad I got Tali and Legion to reconcile their differences, and got them working together when Tali wanted to have a "chat" with Legion. Made me smile a bit how Shep convinced Legion to not send data that could cause the Geth to preemptively strike and Tali to share some non-critical data. I also found it interesting how Legion pretty much said, to the quarians no less, that they're pretty much waiting for the quarians to come back, if they plan on actually trying to co-exist. Too bad for the Geth, the only time they get to see the quarians is when the quarians are sure they can sneak attack them and succeed.

I think the perk is for your whole crew...given your situation. I'd not be surprised. Given how most of the game waits for you, I'm surprised that waiting too long after they are abducted costs you because as far as I can tell, only a few are recovered (that you see in the cutscene). I do recall a comment that you rescued your shipmates just as the last of the colonists are liquefied...they would have been next.

You see that goo going all over the circuit board? That's liquefied prothians. Also, there's a beacon in ME2 that'll give you the same vision, except you see a collector.

Spoiler
There has to be some role of chance in the final mission and having squad members survive. Everyone was loyal except for Jack, and I didn't have Legion unlocked. I send Mordin as tech specialist, he gets blasted in the face. I send samara as biotic specialist, Garrus gets eaten by the swarm. I send Jack to lead the return party. All of them survive. WTF?!?!

There's no way it's only a matter of loyalty, unless I absolutely need the certain member I didn't have in order to get everyone out alive.

I don't know about Garrus and the swarm, but I don't think you should send Mordin as the tech specialist, and I'm pretty sure Jack gets the survivors out regardless. I don't think it's anything to do with chance, could be wrong though.

Mordin tends to just die randomly. Whoever leads the return party automatically survives, I'm pretty sure, which is why I sent Mordin. Not sure about Garrus, but I had no issues with Samara being my biotic for that part.

Oh yeah, your tech specialist has to be Tali or Legion. That's your problem there.

Mordin's a sentinel, I thought. Tech/Biotics, maybe? My friend used Tali, and she got blasted in the face too. I don't remember if she was loyal, though, but I'm pretty sure he mentioned romancing her.

Spoiler
Mordin can't be your tech specialist. If you look at the description of him, it says he specializes in biology. Tali and Legion have to do it. If they're still dying and they're loyal, it probably has to do with whoever the squad leader was.

Zaeed led the other squad. Seemed like a good leader

Yeah, Zaeed, Jacob, then Jack, the order who led the various other squads.

Zaeed is useless. Squad leaders have to be Miranda, Garrus, or Jacob, though I never used Jacob myself.

But he gets the job done! And he's downright crazy!

Well, I'll hopefully correct that this time through. Straight paragon, besides the loyalty missions. I might not even pick up Legion this time either, just to ensure my chances of keeping Tali loyal.

Does Legion have a loyalty mission?

I think it's because he's a DLC character myself, because you would think he'd fit the role.

Yes, L has a loyalty mission, and if you have a high enough paragon/renegade, you don't have to worry about losing loyalty to him or Tali when it comes up.

It's said that the whole process didn't really work (properly) on the prothiens. Plus, the beacon was a warning, I think the goo on circuits and screaming mechanical maw was more representative of the reapers as a combination of living tissue and machine.

Wait, is it a full blown mission, or just a back-and-forth like between Miranda and Jack?

Just a back and forth like Miranda and Jack once you have both their loyalties. Tali goes down to confront him about something, though they get along significantly better than the two ladies. Personally, I'd space Jack out an airlock if I could, but that's just me.
