Mass Effect 2

Hmm. I see. What about this:
Spoiler

Legion was loyal, yet he still died. I put Zaed as the leader (not loyal) and no one died in that part, apart from Legion.

Then I took Grunt and Samara with me, with Miranda the biotic leader. Zaed leader of other team. Grunt and Zaed died. I don't care that Zaed died, but Grunt died! Everyone's loyal except for Zaed and Miranda.

This time I won't take Grunt with me (second part).

Spoiler
Has to be one of the options listed in my post, and loyal, otherwise someone will die. I'm not really a fan of how BioWare handled that part. I don't think anyone should automatically die based on pre-determined roles, but what can ya do?

Nevermind. Just a heads up though, after you finish the game, if you travel to any other planet you'll lose the "restart mission" thing for the suicide mission. I traveled to Omega and now I can't go back and re-do the mission to keep
Spoiler
Legion from dieing.

Managed it. :)

Still 'L' died in the first part. I liked him/her.

I know the feeling.
Spoiler
For me, I had Legion die as the tech specialist which surprisingly bummed me out. At first I didnt care about him but I came to love him during his loyalty mission. The only team member I dont care about is Jack

Ha.
Spoiler
My first time through, I had Garrus lead the other team (he always was my 3rd in command behind Liara), and Legion do the vents. When it came to the part where I needed someone to escort the crew back, I chose Jack, as she was the only person I knew I wasn't going to use for the rest of the game. She wasn't loyal and died. Just as planned B). Everyone else survived.

Grrr, hate it how BioWare screwed the end game dialog by forcing people to either be a pansy or a complete ass.

It was a fun game. Glad Bioware proved me wrong again for the second time. I do have some complaints about the game (obviously), and I'll post them up tomorrow. I'd like to see what you guys think etc.

One thing I've learned from all of this: Create a Shepard with a decent face. Mine looks like a paedo cancer patient. <_<

I for one enjoyed most of the changes. The combat in the first game wasn't great, and now that I went back to replay it a bit it's almost unbearable. ME2's combat is so streamlined and works so well that it's almost impossible for me to play ME1 at this point.

Actually, ME 2 taught me how to play as a vangiard in ME1 effectively. The combat, and pretty much everything else is clumsier in ME1, but it's far from unplayable.

Try a vangaurd, no fun at all

Not true. Charge, get killed, reload, remeber that it's bad idea to charge, charge anyway, get killed reload.. :P

I've played as a vanguard and had a lot of fun. Never used charge though. Shockwave/mass pull/shoot is where it's at.

Charge is the most pointless power ever. Love all the others for the Vanguard though.

I usually go with the default face for male shepards as it's miles ahead of any custom face. It's also consistent with trailers and such. So personally, I prefer the default male face myself, the default female face isn't nearly as well made, it uses no custom models or textures as he default male one does, so on female characters I tend to experiment more.

Just did the final mission again
Spoiler
and tried to make decisions on roles that more suited the task. So this time still kept Legion as the tech specialist and Samara as the Biotic Specialist, but had Garrus take the fire-teams and come with me at the end. Ended up with no deaths and a slightly different end scene which was cool. I'll admit though, I almost had a heart attack when I saw Garrus get shot as I didnt want him to die. (Luckily he didnt though, unlike Thane in my first time)

*ahem* looks like I should clarify this. I don't mean the last level, by end game I meant BioWare forcing players to be a giant pansy svck up, or a horrid despicable ass in order to get the the paragon/renegade dialog for Thane, Jack, Tali, and Samara. Thankfully, I was able to finally get the loyalty for everyone this time, even Tali

(good thing I told the captain quarian to sit tight and not fire rockets)

And I'm in a better mood, because

I was able to get Legion do his and Tali's loyalty quests together, and see that extra dialog. Best part too, the IFF hasn't been installed yet!

I've seen a lot of people complain about this. I have a lot of complaints about this game, but this one just doesn't hit home with me. Maybe because I haven't really given a serious shot at anything other than soldier. If a soldier puts points into his class skill he basically gets all of the paragon/renegade choices in conversation. I have an infiltrator just out of coma that I've been neglecting due to my soldiers second play through. Maybe I will experience the same problems as you with this character.

So....a solider gets higher than a 100% boost to P/R? Heck, I even put my vanguard class spec so that I got a 100% boost on my P/R rating, but I'm barely in the second to last bar for both ratings.

Just finished the game.
Spoiler
Used Garrus as the first team leader, Miranda as the second, Tali through the vents, Jack for biotic thingey and Grunt to escort my crew back to the ship. Did it twice as Moridin died randomly at the very end the first time. On the second attempt I took him with me to the Reaper and he lived. So, no casualties. I'm happy :)

Spoiler
For me the most important thing I got out of this game was that the Reapers finally have some motivation. That really annoyed me in the first game.

Also, for some reason I care more about the Quarians and Geth than anything else in the Mass Effect universe. They could make a game entirely about them and I'd probably be happy :P

I don't know then. I just never had a problem with dialogue options. I always had at least one to chose from in the spots that I needed them. I don't think I was an ass or a pansy. Maybe I just didn't chose the middle dialogue option very often.

I don't think it boosts your actual paragon/renegade scores. I think it makes it so they count for more during dialog options.

No it boosts them. I watched the bars before I upgraded the stat.

Regarding the ending:
Spoiler
I'm a bit curious about the suicide mission. I did not see anything that implied that any of the characters died, so I'm just wondering what would happen if anyone did? Just to sum up what I did: I had Jacob escort the people back, Garrus as leader of both teams, Tali in the vents and Samara shielding. With me, I had Legion and Miaranda.

EDIT:
Wrong lady.

Liara?

Anyway...

certain conditions and decisions affect the ending, For example, if you did not full upgrade thei Normandy, teammates would be killed by explosions etc when trying to get to the Collector Base (eg, the Normandy wouldn't be able to attack the cruiser from a distance, relying on close-range weapons causing hull damage from the explosion). Choosing different people for different duties, such as a weaker Biotic such as Jacob for the barrier may mean he isnt strong enough to keep it up and a team-mate may die. Basically, the condition of the Normandy and if you choose the best person for each job determines who may die.

Uh, I meant Tali. But I've read about all the variables, I just wonder what you see, how the deaths are portrayed.
