Mass Effect Thread #70

There was?
I never noticed any warnings about it, though I was caught up in the moment and not looking for them

As I recall, when
Spoiler
you talk to Hackett for the briefing before that mission, he makes a big deal about how attacking Cerberus with the gathered fleet will be really obvious to the Reapers, stealth will no longer be an option, and you'll have to head straight to the attack on Earth.

Aww yeah I remember hearing it now, I mostly ignored or went away when Hackett spoke, I didn't find him interesting enough then again I was clicking on the hologram for him constantly to find out my readiness.

Don't worry Papafern...

Spoiler
After the Cerberus HQ mission, you'll dock the Normandy one last time before the final fight on Earth. You'll be able to buy any remaining stuff that you want and can talk to all of your squadmates.

Things are getting considerably slow... is it because nothing to talk about, no new Mass Effect news?

Odd time for a bump in this topic... I just started my "hardcoe" play-through, using a brand new character (instead of a NG+)
I must be on a cosmic game cycle

Really? I personally can't stand the MP. It's the same thing over and over with no variation what-so-ever. The best thing about it was I got to play as a Krogan, and that novelty wore off quickly.

This, except I haven't gotten a Krogan yet.

I've already finished it, I wasn't caring about some ending warning or not, I enjoyed just going through it.

Agreed. I had a brief fun with the MP waiting for a patch for another game but then I found Deus Ex and abandoned Mass Effect 3 altogether until they fix that damn ending.

Aye I'm not a huge fan of the MP. It was fine for a few days to get my readiness up but it's not something I'd play for much more reason than that....

I quite enjoy the multiplayer, though anything above Bronze is a pain in the [censored] to complete. I've been playing it everytime I'm on xbox just because it's fun and different from the other games I have - Oh and it's the only online game I have that doesn't cause a RROD <_<

That if anything tells me there are people with different tastes. I see Bronze as the biggest waste of time I've had in a video game.

Those "character customization unlock" cards are how you unlock them in the first place. If you don't have, for ex, Salarian Engineer unlocked.... the first time you get that card, it unlocks Salarian Engineer (with Primary/Highlight color). Each further time you get the card opens up more color options. So if you've gotten a Krogan card, you've got a Krogan available to play.

I'd bet there's a correlation with the difficulty one plays the base game at. People who're comfortable playing Insanity probably also prefer Gold MP. Me, I've never played SP at higher than normal (and that was enough), so yeah - Bronze is about my speed. I've tried Silver a handful of times, but only won once. Never even considered getting instantly slaughtered by Gold.

I'm going to look through the other classes then and see if a Krogan is in them, it wasn't the Krogan in the soldier class hmmm.
I'm trying to get used to playing as an Adept H.Male and Drell just now. Been using Infiltrator since I started.

If you played with my connection, and unpredictible 2RROD, you'd be having the most intense-to-infuriating time of your life.

What am I missing about whats wrong with bronze?

I generally only play on bronze because if I'm playing multiplayer it's purely to boost my readiness. I bet that's the case for most people doing it too. Maybe Bioware should have included an option for those playing just to enhance their SP options. ;)

I hated the fact that you needed MP to raise readiness in SP....however by being forced to play the MP, I have fallen in love with it

I'm guessing that what's wrong with bronze is that it's "boringly easy". (Like I said earlier, if you're the type of person who enjoys playing on the higher difficulties, "easy" is probably really annoying/boring/what's the point.)

I like bronze because I want the whole team not use the same top tier weapons.

Also I hate enemies damage sponges.

I got a free Resurgence DLC that gave a few new maps and characters, quite happy with that since it actually fits on my harddrive (2MB left :o)
Also I saved up to buy the Premium Spectre Pack, but I RROD'd, and when I went to do it it had vanished even though it said there was 155h 'x'mins remaining.

Personally, I found it was boring. It's far too easy to settle into a routine, especially against the geth and Cerberus. Give me Section 8 any day over Mass effect when it comes to MP.

I started out on Normal and in fact first tried hardcoe and Insanity in ME3. With a little practice I became good with it and with a Geth Engineer and Geth Plasma Shotgun and exploiting the ridiculously stupid AI getting "instantly slaughtered by Gold" has never been a problem for me, unless one teammate leaves.

I think Bronze is a waste of time since a Bronze match lasts about 15 minutes and nets you around 10,000 gold. A silver match takes about 16-20 minutes and nets you 30,000 credits. Gold fights take 25-30 minutes and reward you 70-80,000 credits.
Thus, it's vastly more cost effective to play either Silver or Gold.

Personally I play only Gold since through sheer training I've become pretty good at it that, without bragging too much, I can stem the tide enough for any crappy team to make it through. And of course I pick my teams carefully.

I will likely not touch it before the Extended Cut unless it proves to be genuinely good.
