Here's your chance to ask questions to the team working on Fallout New Vegas

This thread is not a place for learning specifics about the game -- there will be on info on that soon enough -- but a meet and greet of sorts, similar to what we had with http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1000694.

I edited the quote to add emphasis to that sentence.

:)

This thread is NOT for asking questions about Fallout: New Vegas details. The rest of this board is for those questions. This is for personal, off-topic questions to ask the developers to find out what they're like as individuals.

How did you get started in game development?

Started writing pen and paper game products (about 5-6 adventures for Dungeon magazine, all rejected), a bunch of proposals for Champions and GURPS and other RPG houses (all rejected), and then finally the editors at Hero Games changed and they needed a Dark Champions submission, fast. My advice: Be persistent, and your time will come.

After the first Dark Champions book (Underworld Enemies), I did some superhero RPG books, realized pen-and-paper's a tough industry to make a living in, so I asked my editor if he knew of any real game design jobs. He recommended Interplay, since they were starting up an RPG division (Dragonplay). And, if I applied and got in, he'd get $300 worth of Interplay software as a referral bonus. Suffice to say, I got a job and felt cheapened by the whole experience when the $300 worth of games traded hands. ;)

Been designing ever since.

I guess this is more oriented towards writers in the Dev team.

What exactly triggers the inspiration and thought in your work?

What are your favorite places and characters in Fallout 1, 2 and 3 (and maybe in Tactics and Van Buren as well - not gonna count the other ones)?

Another question, perhaps for someone who crunches numbers.

In a project, is the budget determined before hand, and is it firm? Would it be possible to increase the budget if, say, the developers come up with something really cool? Have you ever delivered under budget?

I understand any answere would need to be general and vague. :)

MCA - Did you ever find out what happened to that recording of Ron Perlman threatening you?

To all devs - A PNP RPG question, have you played Alternity and what do you think of the mechanics?

Computer RPGs have increasingly been hybridized with genres genres other than strategy/tactics, how do you feel about this trend and what type of gameplay are you most interested in seeing hybridized with RPGs, if any?

Also, since I gotta throw in a weasel question ;) , what is your favorite and least favorite mechanic in Fallout 3?

Favorite ES game?

I have to admit I was late to the ES games, Morrowind was my first and thus has the most prominent place for me in the ES series.

what game made by your company do you enjoy playing the most?

did you ever got bored of creating games?

It's a toss-up between the game we are making and the game the other team is making =)

I never get bored. Frustrated? Physically tired? Wondering what daylight looks like? Sure. Just never bored.

Best/Favourite office story?

Our old building was they type of place that no matter where you put the structure, you'd be working on the wrong side of the tracks. We used to call the downstairs bathroom Rapture because it was always under 6-inches of water. That place has stories...and ants. Lots of ants.

When you guys take trips to Disney World, is it free or do you pay your own way? Also, when going do you car-pool, take a bus, or all take your own cars and plan to meet there at a certain time?
