Question primarily for MCA and J. E. Sawyer (although open to all): You were described by the recent PC Gamer article as "an advert for the clean Californian lifestyle" and "slim". Having a primarily sedentary job in an industry associated with long hours, particularly around crunch time, how do you maintain this physique?
I thought that was funny since I've been losing muscle and gaining fat since about October. Chris can probably answer better since he's pretty consistent with his regimen.
Work and a knee injury (over training that revealed osteoarthritis on my right knee) have made it very difficult for me to exercise lately. When I was exercising, I was preparing for a sprint (short distance) triathlon on a ten week program. At the peak of the schedule, it was six days on, one day off, usually biking 20 miles, running 5 miles, or swimming 1000 yards. I didn't do any weight training, though I know I should have. I didn't change my eating habits that much during the training; I just cut back on candy and soda. I'm an "ovo-lacto" vegetarian, but nothing changed there during the training. I had been pretty off/on about exercising until I picked a triathlon to do, registered (12 weeks in advance), and started training. Knowing that I was going to have to do the tri motivated me to never skip a workout. Until I injured my knee, I didn't.
Prior to that, I had been on the Obsidian soccer team (RIP). I wasn't a very good player, but it was great exercise. Since it was a company team, everyone provided collective motivation to go to practices and games.
