a question i got in before leydenne closed the thread was something my friends asked me a lot:
Do You Consider Video Games an Art?
Personally, I do not. IMO Video Games can be artistic and mostly made up up artistic components, but as a whole it is meant to be an experience. I do not consider card or board games art either. IMO, If games were an art, no company would worry about how much money there is to made, or say "no" to projects based on statistics that say a game won't do well in the marketplace. I beleive art is done for art's sake and video game development is just a business like any other. That's not to say that I don't feel like an artist everyday, which I do, but I understand my art is being used in business.
For anyone, if you please:
What is the best part of your job, and the worst?
The best part is working with other people. I played a lot of team sports when I was younger, so I appreciate the team aspect of video game development. Working at Obsidian is even better since many of these folks have been my co-workers/friends for many years now.
The worst part is indecisiveness, or lack of leadership. FNV doesn't suffer from these things, but I have been on projects before, that have, and it makes things miserable for me.
How ecstatic were you guys when you first found out that you guys were going to develop the next fallout game?
YAY! Another sequel! -jk

I was very excited. I'm really pleased to have an opprotunity to work in the world of Fallout again. I have many happy memories from my experience on Fallout 2, and have been creating new ones on FNV.
do you guys ever enjoy the games you make? or are you tired of seeing those same textures and the same sound and logos and npcs over and over AND OVER
RPG's aren't my thing, so no. I'm am so terrible (stupid) at playing games that I have to play things that are REALLY simple to understand and nothing that requires a large investment of time. I'd have no trouble with it otherwise.
