more combat added to base game ?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 3:11 pm

yeah when people say they played the entire game with a 10mm its kinda funny, why do that? lol the difficulty isn't all its about, the fun factor is missing from new vegas once you're leveled up especially, the lack of well armed enemies is just one problem in new vegas, there are really no dungeons at all to battle and fight in, and i'm not talking just about metro tunnels, FO3 had quite a few pretty large building complexes to fight in, setting traps etc, sneaking around, thats all missing from new vegas, the capitol building was fun as hell inside and out, it was pretty complex inside that place, the roosovelt academy also, and the chryslus building, it was fun fighting the supermutants in those places, how about lob enterprises, all those sentry bots, that place was huge inside, like 4 or 5 levels to it, and other places like the national guard armory, or red racer factory, nuka cola plant, the library, national archives and on and on, robco etc, new vegas is missing all of that type of stuff.

(I just read the first two lines of this text because you never hit the enter button so I'm just going to respond to that mkay.)
Part of the "fun factor" for me is to have a game that is challenging.
Finishing the game with a 10mm pistol is of course over exaggerating but the point still stands that it's too easy.
If it's too easy, then the "fun factor" is lost for me.
Which is what has happened in both NV and FO3.

Yes but still NV vegas lost its fun factor (IMO) quicker than fallout 3. @westoftherockies i do agree with your post. In new vegas when you see a building theres not that muchs stuff to loot in it let alone its small and also has no enimies or some. The burnswick building(correct me if im wrong) that place was kinda like a maze and has ghouls in it.. Plus to add to that it was scary as [censored]. It was a challenge and had notable loot in it.

i agree, i love both fallout games i've played, FO3 and NV, both of em are the fun to play, i don't know what the soloution is, i prob couldn't make the games better myself, all i know is they are more fun at early levels, i don't really want enemies to be scaled like in oblivion, but they do need more firepower at higher levels, its not fun fighting powdergangers at all really let alone after level 10, i think the enemies need a lot of firepower, none of the enemies use missle launchers, or gatling lasers or multiplas rifles or heavier type machine guns, most of the human enemies can barely put a dent in my health and my endurance is only at 7 even after i'm leveld up. a lot of enemies are using pool ques, hatchets, macheties, small pistols, varmit rifles, so after level 20, NONE of the enemies should be using those weak weapons, it may be more"realistic" or "believable" but its not fun, and actually its not believable that a bad guy would charge you with a pool que or varmit rifle, when you have a plasma rifle or assault rifle.

No it wasn't! There is no challenge in F3. Nothing F3 even hit you hard. Nothing puts you in your place. There isn't something that makes you truly stop and think twice before you attack. NV is almost as bad.

In Fallout 2 there were packs of deathclaws, enclave patrols, aliens, gangs armed with power fists. Neither F3 nor FNV had those encounters where you were fighting for your life.

I dont know what your talking about fallout 3 was way more challenging than NV. There are packs of deathclaws in both F3 and FNV btw. Also there was gangs armed(talon Company) but not with power fists. F3 was more fighting for your life than FNV. Never played Fallout1 or 2 so i wouldnt know how it was and never will.

I was very impressed with the Chryslus Building and many of the larger and more interesting interior buildings. Loved the hospital/Reilly's Rangers rescue. Most of the larger buildings in NV were on the Strip and didn't offer the stalk and kill danger of the Fallout 3 buildings. Much simpler interior layouts. The Hotel in Primm was pretty good for an early hunt and kill scenario and the building with the ghouls and Nightkin was a fun romp. Just not as many like that in NV.

Maybe we would have been much more satisfied with NV, if Fallout 3 hadn't been the barometer that we tend to compare it to. Much like fans of the first 2 Fallout games tend to see fault with the latest two.

To each their own, but as it stands now, I found Fallout 3 to be a much more interesting game with a length and depth that leaves NV behind. And that's just the original games with no DLC. Plus, Fallout 3 kept me coming back for more and more. NV has not hooked me like that. Heck, I got as much gameplay out of Fallout 3 (compared to NV) before I even ventured far into D.C. and the Metros. Of course, some people are going to favor NV or Fallout 2. We come into games with different wants and needs ...to keep our interest. Considering the hours that Fallout 3 entertained me, it is the best bargain I've had in a long time with a computer or video game.

Now, if they could only bring back the amazing X-Com games from many years ago.

yes i put alot of hours Into F3. I played it 4 times compared to the whopping 1 time i played NV. Dont get me wrong i love NV but it needs alot more refining to it. F3 in the metros was like one of the most scariest things in my opinion and they were big which kinda annoyed me sometimes. Because i had to go throug this metro and its just excruciating to go through the whole thing.

i agree, and its kinda a bummer because obsidian did make some improvements, more weapons, mods, better skill/perk system, they brought back traits from the earlier fallouts games which i never played but still, they did put in a lot of quests, the repuation system, so they did a lot of things right, but all those big buildings like FO3 had are missing, not even counting the metro tunnels, and also in FO3 there were other good locations like la enfant plaza and takoma industrial, those were fun places to cruise around and fight enemies, i think FO4 is gonna be better than both new vegas and FO3, bethesda is good at certain things like dungeons, buildings and enemies to fight.

Deathclaws are laughable in F3 and NV. In F2 they were VERY tough and had a ton of AP so they would knock the crap out of you tearing through your power armor with easy. They had a high AC so they were hard to hit. Trying to run was pointless because they had more AP. They would kill your party members in a matter of turns. And they always traveled in groups of 6. Fallout 1 and 2 were BRUTAL.

wow that sounds terrible. some odd reason you remind me of like a WW2 vet and we are like the Vietnam or Gulf war vets and your harking on us about how Fallout 1 and 2 are better or in other words your the ww2 vet harking on how the wars after that wernt nothing compared to the one you fought in.(just saying)

You CANT expect good locations in Nevada like Washington D.C.

Now,

Fallout 3 is easy, and if its easy, then its not fun for me and then its boring
And I was playing in Very Hard

Behemots are easy, I dont even need a FatMan to kill them
Deathclaws are easy too,
EVERY enemy in that game are easy
Power Armor is a joke too

Level Scaling make it worse

I want more random encounters

But I dont want to fight every 15 SECONDS of my life like Fallout 3

No more Bullet Sponges

And if I want scary places

Then none of the games have it

Duncwich Building and Crhysalis arent creppy places

nope actually im younger than you by 1 year and wow how old were you when you played fallout 1 and/or 2

12 years when played Fallout 2

15 years when I played Fallout 1 and Tactics

18 years when I played Fallout 3 and NV

Any problems?

new vegas is just as easy as FO3, sure you might run into the deathclaws in the quarry early on or a few giant scorpions but apart from that, its very easy, most of the enemies don't have good firepower, none of em use good weapons hardly, weapons likes rocket launchers, machine guns, sniper rifles, assault rifles, most of the enemies in new vegas use this stuff>>>
pool ques
macheties
9mm's
hatchets
varmit rifles
service rifles
thats one reason why combat is so weak in new vegas, yeah its true a few of the creatures can put the hurt on you, if you let em or get too close, cazedores and deathclaws but the human enemies are weak and the few supermutants aren't nearly as fun to fight as in FO3, the new vegas supermutantsa pretty much just charge at you with a supersledge, yeah one or two em might have a heavy incenerator but not nearly of of a threat from the supermutants in new vegas they are almost non existent and they are way more fun to fight than powder gangers, ceasers legion or ncr, and the enclave were a lot more fun to fight also. at least they were somewhat tactical, they had lots of heavy incinerators, plasma rifles, sentry bots shooting missles etc, so new vegas is lacking in fun enemies to fight, the enclave might not of been too hard to killl, its true they weren't bullet sponges like ceasers legion are. so yeah they might of been easier to kill but at least they had more firepower than ceasers legion and didn't just charge you with a machettie, and throwing spears? what the hell is that about, thats gay, ceasers legion throw spears . hahahahaha who thought of that.

That [censored] Ceaser thought of that just like he though of using the old roman empire pshhhh thats dumb. And F3 and NV are not similar in combat wise there was way more enimies in F3 it seemed like they were just everywhere even just a a little bit ouside of Rivet city i faced some Regulators not to mention the super mutants on your way there when your a low level can turn out bad sometimes depending on what guns you have. Danger creeps around everycorner in F3, only Rainbows and sunshine creep around every corner in Fallout New Vegas.

i know, ceasers legion is lame, maybe on paper they seemed like a good idea but practically, for this type of game they're a pathetic faction, no mystique really, not menacing or a threat, like the enclave were, the enclave were ominous, then they would show up almost anywhere, i remember the first time after the waters of life quest near dukovs place, all of a sudden a verti bird drops off enclave units, it was tense, for the longest time wherever i went i was wondering where they would show up, then running into their fortified outposts, they were pretty heavily armed, they had gatling lasers, plasma weapons, sentry bots, heavy incenerators. thats more firepower than any of the new vegas factions.

yah really they had the firepower to take down anything and the BOS could to in NV if there forces weren't so diminished. The enclave would appear out of no where and you would be caught of guard. Plus to add to that they had very good weapons and armor Not to mention they have VERTIBERDS. Ceasers legion looks like a group of terrible fiends compared to them. They shouldnt even be a major faction if that.
