more combat added to base game ?

yah really they had the firepower to take down anything and the BOS could to in NV if there forces weren't so diminished. The enclave would appear out of no where and you would be caught of guard. Plus to add to that they had very good weapons and armor Not to mention they have VERTIBERDS. Ceasers legion looks like a group of terrible fiends compared to them. They shouldnt even be a major faction if that.

yeah i like the fiends, they're pretty cool, at least they're fun to fight, they have some firepower, they are pretty numeruous when they fight you, they're the best faction in the game apart from being hooked on all kinds of drugs, lol actually i like the kings too, they're kinda cool, the elvis thing is funny, i usually ask the king if i can join the kings fore my favor, lol

Lets be realistic here. The game is based on survival is it not? Without a lot of things to "survive" from there isnt much to do. Cant argue that "more" doesnt mean "harder", but it does instinct a sense of survival, not to mention atleast give you something to do. In NV only thing im fighting is the urge to turn off my console and play something that gives me things to do. You can argue theres plenty to do, thats not my point, my point is the whole topic of this discussion. There is NOT enough combat, regardless of how hard the combat is. And even playing it on the hardest difficulty and hardcoe it still isnt as tough as some of your comments make it seem. A simple solution to both problems. Not only increase the numbers, increase the firepower. As for the bullet sponge problem, I like an enemy thats a bit harder to kill, hell if its that much ofa problem with things being sponges, dont use bullets use grenades. As a game overall I thought FO3 was way better, even the ending mission in NV wasnt fun, FO3 keeps you hooked from beginning to end NV leaves me looking for combat, the key word in this sentence is "THOUGHT", everyone has their opinions dont criticize me for mine.

i like talking to the king he's pretty cool, i really wish the game had more roaming factions, there's only a couple spots where you see two factions fighting, near macarren airport the ncr and fiends and near camp searchlight ncr fights ceasers legion, , like having the khans patrolling near goodsprings and sloan, along that highway, maybe have some of the westside people patrolling along the road leading to jacobstown, the boomers cruising around their area outside the gates, that north section of the map, just so they aren't so static so if you want to fight em or join their patrols it makes its a bit more interesting.

yah really and they kinda had that in F3 i once seen a Talon Company team fighting a Deathclaw was quite amusing. Yah the one at camp McCaren is probably the only time that you will see the NCR and legion fight(other than the battle at hoover damn)

Well, I for one, happen to agree with most of what you are saying. So many cool weapons beg for more opportunity to use them. I kept going back to Black Mountain to try to find respawned Super Mutants to fight.

i agree guys, there's not much of a sense of danger on the map, and i'm not so sure a desert environment is the best place for a post apocalyptic game to take place, with a city/urban type area you have buildings to go explore, to fight bad guys in, deserted factories and abandoned complexes, that adds to the game immersion, i loved going in the buildings in FO3, there were lots of buildings and strustures you could almost get lost in, at least for a while, i had to find my way out of tons of places in FO3. thats fun to do.

Well, one solution to getting more combat is to always wear a Legion armor. ;)

Again, I don't think that the amount of enemies is the problem.
It's that when you find them, most of them are to mid-level enemies.
New Vegas has no level scaling or random encounters at all so combat becomes predictable, and the only way to make it harder is to gimp oneself.

Anyway, Enclave isn't really the solution to everything either.
What should be done is to amp up Khans, Powder Gangers, Scorpions, Escaped Boomers, Kings and Van Graff/Crimson Caravan/Gun Runner and give them patrols around the wastes.
Have a certain % chance that a group of these can spawn in a lot of areas with equipment that gets better as the player levels up.
Have them all send assassins/mercenaries after you if you screw them over.
This could easily fix the combat problem.

Anyway, Enclave isn't really the solution.
The problem is that the game is too static and that the enemies you do get all have lore-friendly equipment.
What I'd like is for hardcoe Mode or Very Hard to amp up their equipment and they could be just as dangerous if not more dangerous than Enclave was in FO3.
Enclave just seem to be a better choice because they used PA and energy weapons.
It seems that you're forgetting that their energy weapons were... Well.. Crap... And that due to the Damage Resistance system their PA was also pretty crap too.
So Enclave in FO3 is in no way the be all end all enemy.

So in a way, level scaling, while not very lore-friendly or logical at times, is really needed in New Vegas.

the enclave were a good faction, they were ominous, they brought some tension and suspense in the game, none of the factions in new vegas do that, they did have firepower, they used sentry bots, had heavy incenerators, they were pretty tactical, they didn't just rush straight at you, so they were good enemies, they were somewhat mysterious, so thats all missing, no factions in new vegas are like that.

if you take away a good faction it has to be replaced with something equivelant, ceasers legion is kinda like fighting cavemen, and ncr is isn't much better, so yeah you obsidian can take out the enclave, take out most of the supermutants and take out the BOS, if obsdian owned the series the main factions would eventually be groups of homeless people using sticks and stones to fight everyone with, thank God bethesda owns the franchise.

NCR has Desert Rangers and Legion has Prime and Veteran legionnaires.
Sad thing is that we don't get too meet them a lot.
So both factions do have equivalents, it's just that we don't get to fight them a lot.

Maybe a tweak to increase the amount of Veteran Rangers and Prime Legionaries, but no more Enclave. Please no more they were completely eradicated twice, do we need to completely eradicate them again? NO! That's dumb.

i don't think ncr or ceasers legion were done quite right, they needed some verti birds, robots, they needed to be patrolling the map, showing up in unexpected places A LOT more, on all my playthroughs, i only had ceasers legion come after me like 2 or 3 times, and thats in almost 3 months of playing, i think both of those factions could of been developed and implemented a lot better and made to be more menacing if you were on their bad side, and they needed to be on the map in far more places so the potential is there for you to run into em, and so its not so predictable where they are gonna be, i know exactly where to find ncr and ceasers legion, and its too east to predict where they aren't gonna be. most of the map is like a stroll in the park.

Well, in all honesty, in my opinion I think they needed to put a little more effort into the game overall. I mean its a fun game for a while but they couldve done a lot more to improve it, not to mention take out a few bugs on the consoles. As for the desert, ya that probably wasnt the best place for the game to take place, not much goes on in a desert anyway you look at it. When I compare the two games I feel like it was worth spending money on FO3 and they delivered. With NV I feel like they were just in a rush to get the game out and make money. Some of the new features are good like weapon customization and different amo types, but thats literally all I see thats better. The thing I enjoyed in FO3 was the fact that the factions used different tactics. A raider might run right at you while the Enclave are quite tactical. Makes you feel like your in the moment. If anything in NV they shouldve atleast made the Brotherhood patrol some areas after you deal with the quests involving them, but that falls into the same situation as everything else thats supposed to be patrolling.

i agree, like i've said before, obsidian did do some things right, the skill/perk/special system is improved, the way repair works, the faction reputation system, more weapons and mods, but like you said, there isn't much going on in a desert, its not the best place for a post apocalyptic game, there's not a lot of buildings, structures and complexes to explore, and the buildings in new vegas are mostly just one room, they don't have anything like the statesman hotel or the capitol building, or lob enterprises or the national guard armory or the roosovelt academy or red racer factory, the bison hotel was cool but there just wasn't nearly enough of that type of stuff, bethesda is pretty good at "dungeon" type buildings and complexes.

yes i can totatly agree with that. Obsidian cant make a dungeon to save thier lives heck the biggest on in the game is either Bison hotel or ummmm lets see cant name another because their aint no more. Dont even get me started on the Statesmen hotel that place was filled with super mutants and i loved it  . The desert is dry and boring kinda like NV. I will admit they did add alot more stuff like weapons, Quests, and etc. but still they could have done something that would top F3(like they could psssh). So i do hope that bethesda does make the next one because if its anything like F3 its gonna be sweet. see bethesda took their time to make F3...and make it all detial and add alot of lootable stuff in buildings and enimies and how the whole wasteland it is itself.

That hotel and hospital mission was amazing. Nothing quite like it in NV. The Ghoul / Nightkin building was pretty good, but most interior locations that included enemies felt more like Fallout 3 "lite". Fallout 3 had quite a few detailed and lengthy dungeon crawl type interiors.

yah sometimes i would get lost in some of those buildings in F3. The National guard depot was one of the best places for loot. What place can you find the best place for Loot ohhh yah a Vault like serously(vault 34). The ghoul mission with nightkin was probably the most lengthy one out of some and was a pretty big building not to mention where it was at. I liked fighting those nightkins espically since im going there now at lvl 5 in my second play through and i tell you what im looking for one hell of a challenge. For one im a low lvl and the fact that i dont have many weapons and ammo. I did get boone witch im gonna need...(so wish me luck lol)

i totally agree, i was hoping new vegas was gonna top FO3 but its like obsidian went two steps forward, making some decent improvements but then they took 3 steps backwards, exploration was super weak and if they weren't gonna put a lot of big complex buildings in the game, they at least needed to make the factions more lively, none of em patrol around, its easy to know where they are all gonna be, i liked how the enclave would drop units off near you when you were cruising by, it make you have to take evasive action usually and get ready for a fight, but bethesda is a lot better at making enemies to fight and at making buildings to explore and fight in, detailed complex buildings, tunnels and bases etc.

But their writing is awful

Is all forced

You need to help James, You need to help the BOS, you have to destroy the Enclave, you cant do something different, is all the same thing

Bethesda need to left Obsidian to do the plot, they have stellar job in terms of writing since NW2,

Bethesda lost their writers after Morrowind and then, everything s gone downhill for them

They need to understand that in a RPG, exploration isnt the only important thing,

And by the way

Please, improve you AI, I hate that you enemies go Leroy Jenkins even if you are the most powerful entity in the Wasteland
The AI svcks since Morrowind, it just enemies doing "Zerg Rush" all over again.

yah in general there alot better at making a wasteland. There is some locations in NV where there is litterally nothing to loot. Like the deserted shack witch isnt even a shack its destroyed. The enemies heck,WHAT ENEMIES, There arnet even patrols at least in F3 they hiad enclave that would swoop out of no where and get you out of surprise. Plus all the super mutants that were there they were always a nice fight. They were always welcomed in my eyes loved those little guys(lol).

@dario meza F3 writing is not awful it was decent. NV writing is also good no bad at all.

yep, well a lot of people said they were tired of supermutants and enclave after FO3 so obsidian didn't put very many of ef on the map, i like fighting supermutants, it was fun, totally fun, i liked hearing em talking, they were funny, also in FO3 there were lots of robots, do you remember the smack robots would talk in the national guard armory, it was funny, they had classic lines, but the sentry bots and robo brains were tough, new vegas has most melee enemies and to me thats very boring in a game where the player has tons of gun, i want people shooting machince guns at me, missles, rockets, shotguns, high powered rifles, lasers etc. i think bethesda is far better at making cool enemies to fight.

yes really. Plus where are the Robots on NV?? I dont see any of them except at the particular buildings. Yah i dont know why people didnt like supermutants there CRAZY. I loved the national gaurd with all its tough Robots and such. then seeing that Beauty the Explosive MIRV. Plus enimies with melee weapons are boring when the Enemies is using them. If they had guns then they could shoot you from afar. Instead of them having to get close and getting slaughtered. Bethesda should make the next one Faithfullly.
