We need to give Bethesda a break!

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 4:45 am

Ok so we all want DLC, but we also want patch fixes and patch fixes that fix patch bugs, we want so much from Bethesda that it is not humanly possible to do in the amount of time we all want it done. You want the DLC like now, at the same time you want all these bug fixes, so if Bethesda were to release the DLC now then it would svck and be full of bugs because we want bugs fixed in other games...

so lets just give Bethesda a break, stop getting angry at them for now and just say

THANK-YOU BETHESDA FOR ALL OF YOUR HARD WORK AND DEDICATION.

Yeah true but they also need to keep us informed and be honest if it's going to take a while, tell us and don't leave us in the dark. In this age of communication they can have people keep us constantly notified on what's going on.

^^^ this. Groupofone, who says they need to keep us informed? What makes you feel entitled to have bethesda tell you every single thing they're doing? They'll announce it when they're ready until then just chill

Constant updates? Would you rather Beth work on DLC or tell to that they're working on it instead of actually developing it? Until then, consider the release date a surprise.

Some information would greatly be appreciated, especially information on what bugs they are aware of and are trying to fix.

Didn't people already say "thank you" through the payment of $60?

There's a certain supply and demand in business. The consumers haven't been supplied with their demands yet, out side of a couple of patches that fixed a few things, but other than that they are not happy with the supply they have been given.

^ this

And they wouldn't have all this headache about bugs and glitches if they did proper testing and not have rushed for 11.11.11. I would have gotten over waiting a little longer for a game that wasn't half as buggy as it is now.

I'm not sure I completely agree with the whole OP, but I certainly agree with the sentiment!

Asking for information about DLC is not the same as demanding the release of DLC.

I don't really care about DLC though. Skyrim is still pretty fun for me.

I am not saying they need to be like over-the-top telling us every detail about what's going on. But how hard is it to hire one or two guys who can just send Twitter updates? They already have that in the form of Pete Hines it looks like, and he FINALLY spoke. It's like his job to relay the information.

Honestly, I don't know why it's that hard for some companies and people to communicate with the fanbase, and for others it's very easy.

To just say "DLC is coming but it'll be a while, sorry guys. We will keep you informed." and then every once in a while say it's coming along.

This whole Skyrim Kinect thing has been a mess, if you're delaying it just send out a Tweet, it takes two seconds, and let the people know so they aren't mass e-mailing you and complaining to websites all over the internet.

Sometimes making constant updates is worse than not. What if they are unable, ultimately, to do something that they announced they were working on? Better just leave them alone to work and release what they will, when they will.

As a designer I actually like to keep people informed about what I am doing, even if I only have a single sentence to tell them.

Quite frankly, if it were machines that made the damn game I would agree, but look, they're [censored] HUMANS.

Even the athlete with the most potential in the world will quit if he never gets a pat on the back and a day off eventually. If all he gets is "work on this, it svcks" all day long, then believe me, he'll quit.

Look, having my paycheck at the end of the week is one hell of a good thing, yeah. But if I didn't see my consumers telling me "thanks a lot, it's appreciated" once in a while, then believe me, I'd MUCH prefer to live on welfare for the rest of my life.

Money means nothing. It might "make the world turn", but it's NOT a way to say ANYTHING. Only a just compensation for hard work, that doesn't even tell you if you did your job right or not.

If you spent your whole workdays coding, the last thing you wanna hear is that you svck at it, or that you could do more. Same goes for all jobs.

Now sorry for the novel, but I think some people need to realise that just because you're typing texts in a forum, wthrough a username, doesn't mean your words have no impact.

TL:DR They're humans, just give them a break and stop criticizing EVERY SINGLE BREATH they take or don't take

Fully aware that they are humans. But please also be fully aware that once you become part of the public eye, especially in the entertainment industry, you are always going to be scrutinized for what you do and don't do.

Does Mass Effect 3's ending ring a bell?

There's nothing wrong with lighting a fire under someone's a$$ in order to speed em up, but I don't want them to be quick, I want some info. as to when to expect the DLC ( around abouts when) and some info. on the bug/glitch fixes but they seem to not want to update their fan base until just before release. Which is fine for DLC to tip toe around the date but when it come to game breaking bugs, and other issues that stack to make a bigger problem they should be Johnny on the spot when it come to giving info. in that area seeing how I paid $70 of my hard earned money to buy their product. If this was anything other then a Beth. game I'm sure those who say " be patient" would change their tune.

Why do you want them to keep you informed? They are either working or they aren't, telling you doesn't change anything. They are either fixing something, or they aren't. Telling you doesn't change that either. They might be trying to fix something, tell you about it, then not be able to fix it and give up for a few patches, or never fix it at all.

Want them to tell you that too?

All this "we need info" is staggering to me. Why does it matter? You having info changes nothing.

What Bethesda should do is just announce, officially, that all DLC will be released sometime before 2020. There, now you know the date.

Maybe everybody at Bethesda wants a donut today, and they aren't working on anything. Who cares?

Because there is lots of evidence within the gaming world that shows that a negative reception can incite a positive change.

Indeed. Well reasoned criticism of a game can often have a positive effect on the subsequent releases.

It's not always "well reasoned."

Yes, if they never plan on fixing the bug that prevents you from advancing the Thieves Guild storyline, then I would love to know so I can just delete my Khajiit and start her over again. But if they are planning on fixing it, then I can jump for joy and do an Breakfast Club-style fist raise because I won't lose all my progress with that character.

With no information, I'm sitting on a forum talking about how I would like some information.
