Yes! These perks seem like someone actually put some thought into them, and its only a handful, whoop whoop whoop! :celebration: and as you dont get one every level its going to be even harder to choose.

I'm liking all of the perks this time around. There seem to be more gameplay affecting ones than in fallout 3. Besides now they are giving skill specific perks something more than stat points, which I thought was really just a waste of a perk.
By the way I'm definitely getting laser commander. The energy weapons are some of my favorites, they look awesome and are powerful. I can shoot an assault rifle in any other FPS but how many of them will let me turn people to a pile of goo with plasma?

It just went from too powerful to too illogical. :ahhh:
How in the name of Bruce Willis does knowing to talk down prices make you able to travel more quickly?

Well just think about it this way. When your barter skill is high enough you get a brahmin that follows you bet hides from you. When you fast travel he will hold gear for you! or somthing the lines of a brahmin.

Good perks.

Long Haul seems interesting, useful in its own right and not too recommendable for HC mode (being over encumbered likely affects the fasttravel speed as it does real time speed, I doubt they've overlooked that matter).

There's some that will prove useful for a free-aim player. I'm liking long haul, pack rat and the professional.

Purifier might be good if there's melee weapons I want to use.
Long haul is overpowered.

Idunno I really like it.

I'll probably be maxing that out if it's as useful as it was in Fallout 3. And by "useful" I of course mean "broken" lol. I have over 300,000 caps thanks to that skill. No cheats either, Xbox version.

But the best perk listed here for me is probably Shotgun Surgeon. I loved the combat shotgun in Fallout 3, I can't wait to see what types there are in this game. I'm hoping for at least one pump action.

Are you saying that having 300K Caps in your inventory was useful? I am pretty sure it didn't do anything for you. Who needed to buy anything outside of a few schematics and maybe some rare ammo here and there.

im already seeing sort of a problem...

these new perks require WAY to much in the individual skills to get

like long haul requires 70 in barter i never upgraded barter in the last game mainly for the fact that getting money made barter useless in the long run..

but now that were stripped of all those skill points given to us in FO 3 this is a perk i will never touch even though it sounds amazing

I'm not sure about Long Haul or Pack Rat. I like the idea of being very limited in hardcoe Mode, so I will probably avoid these perks. I like Laser Commander and The Professional.

Unless we get an actual brahmin (which doesn't have any super health, just regular brahmin health) then no, it's illogical and unnecessary.

Idunno I really like it.

Liking it doesn't make it less powerful.
I like Grim Reapers Spring but I hate that it makes the game even more of a cakewalk (FO3)

... You could always create a new character and play it differently where you actually use the barter skill.

Well, that's the advantages of a dedicated character build. Being able to get really good perks like that really easily will make the game completely unbalanced.

Im not liking the cowboy perk. Unless those weapons are underpowered, 25% means all other guns bonuses have to be weapon specific, or not effect damage. And lever shotgun with cowboy+shotgun surgeon will be the best shotgun. Wish I actualy liked old crappy guns...

more like

dev a: mhm, we have this game, where you can gamble enough caps together to get banned from the casinos...doesn't this somehow render barter a pretty useless skill?

dev b: yeah, right....let's just make it a prerequisite for some truly awesome perks, even if it doesn't make sense at all. sounds like an idea, doesn't it?

dev a: that's awesome

dev b: great, let's do this

Jury Rigged looks AWESOME. Definitely tagging Energy Weapons/Speech/Repair now.

Long Haul also seems nice, and I really don't think it's overpowered. Sure, it'll let you carry a lot of junk back after winning random encounters and such. But, given that we get perks half as fast as in Fallout 3, taking Long Haul means you're passing up REALLY useful, and rarer, combat perks in exchange for the ability to make extra money off of looting.

Looked at in context of the perks you pass up for it, it really isn't that bad at all. You make more money but you're worse in combat; seems like a fair trade.

Having Long Haul tied to the Barter skill makes complete sense. Barterers travel a lot a while carrying their items around. Yeah, it's not realistic, but you could name a ton of other gameplay-related things in Fallout that aren't realistic, lol. Why nitpick about this one?

Like you said... "it sounds amazing". Why would a amazingly sounding perk be easily attainable. If you want it then put 70 in that skill. If you don't feel it is worth it, then don't.

People complain that fallout 3 is too easy, and then those same people complain that things are not given to them on a platter.

... They have pack brahmins, carts and probably 6-9 in STR stat...
Still makes no sense.
Barter means you know how to negotiate prices.
Not that you know how to carry a crap load of stuff.

Yeah, thats called specialization. These perks are uniuqe, unlike FO 3's wich like you said, gave you stat bonuses and none of them really felt rewarding. And most of these perks are only avaidible at level 14 so youll have plenty of time to get your skill points up, just plan ahead my friend.

Ok maybe crappy is abit harsh. But why use a slow loading 6 shooter when you can use a huge clip? Why use a lever shotgun over a combat shotgun? Its fun at the range, but outdated.
