I think the [7] is actually a 171. Like a Vault Number.

But there aren't 171 vaults...

But why would the helmet only display one number? If there are more than 171 vaults, it would be confusing for wastelanders to see a 171 and be like "You from Vault 7?" "No, Vault 171."

He's an NCR guy (soldier or ranger), not a vault guy.

How do we know, though? I mean, him standing next to an NCR flag should be pretty obvious. But how do we know?

Well, it would simply make sense given that he was revealed together with the flag. In a trailer or intro, there wouldn't really be much of a point in doing that unless he were a member of NCR. If they wanted him to be someone else and the flag to mark NCR territory, the flag or a NCR sign would have been shown first and then he would enter the scene. This is how cinematics work, and this is how the BoS was introduced in the Fallout 3 intro/trailer. The markings look more like army markings than anything from any vault. Some people are just reading too much into it.

1. Intact
2. http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/File:FNV_New_Vegas.jpg - Does that look like a city to you?
3. How could they got the resources to rebuild new vegas? Look on the DC ruins, still destroyed. New vegas- intact and perfect.

I don't just buy that rebuild theory. No there has never been mentioned anything about a time machine, but that don't means it isn't one.

isn't it obvious that the mountains behind vegas could have been a factor in surviving a nuclear blast?? i mean the city looks as if it hasn't been touched by any sort of damage... anyone ever really noticed that?

Well, it was likely partly preserved from the war and partly rebuilt after it. After all, it's been 200 years.

So, is the whole game gonna take place in the city or the city and the outskirts too?

The city better be as big as it looks from that view.

This is the official description of the teaser trailer from game trailers;

Sin City has beat the odds and survived a nuclear winter and have even managed to pay their electricity bill. The Fallout RPG world returns with a new series of guns, bottle caps and super mutants.

---

So that answers that question as to if this is vegas of old or a new vegas/location.

I believe that the game will take place in Nevada mainly with 'New Vegas' being the main target during the story. I mean why would it only be in Vegas...There's a reason why it's called New Vegas, it's there for a reason and if a location is that important that is has to be in the title then I'll I can expect is that New Vegas will be very important.

Agreed 150% on all points.

As for people amazed by the 'size' of vegas... I am quite sure you could put that town they have on display in the video EASILY into the size of the capital wasteland area we had to explore.

I have a terrible feeling the city will consist of one street with lit up and enter-able buildings, about the size of two Rivet Cities.

Agree, the teaser pretty much follows the structure of the F3 one. But he still seems to wear a Pipboy. Yes, it could be stolen, found, bought, but a teaser trailer wouln't imply this so directly from the start.

Who said pipboys at some point have not become standard issue to NCR rangers? Makes sense just like in todays military you give the best equipment to the elite units especially one of your rangers on a obvious special mission to NV...

My thoughts;

The original cowboy face was happy then at 0:17ish it goes to an angry face and then back to the happy one possibly indicating what mood the robot is in? ie: should I shoot at it?

Next as the camera pans out we get a full look at the robot, obviously it isn't meant to be in the desert it has one wheel and it isn't to good at digging, so what function could it serve? To me the only thing it looks like this robot could do is advertise stuff on its screen, maybe it serves people?

The robot also has an antenna; unlike all of the other robots in FO3 so maybe it is remote controlled?

As the camera pans out farther we see a body buried in the sand, the corpse is fresh and it still has shoes! They look stylish not practical for a dessert. It gave me the impression that it was some gang activity at work? Or mobsters killing people and covering their tracks?

As the camera backs up even further and at about 1:15 in the lower left of the screen there is some sort of metal tube or hatch sticking out of the sand, maybe a hatch?

Last notice the direction of the shadows right around the "ranger" at the end of the trailer judging the way the shadows go towards the city I would say there is also light coming from behind the "ranger" possibly other people with lights or an invasion like so many people speculate? I just don't think he is alone

Food for thought??.

I do wonder how they're going to make New Vegas feel "Fallout-y." I mean there's never been such a huge city in a Fallout game. There was The Pitt, but it's buildings and people were falling apart and they weren't exactly a metropolis. If New Vegas never got hit by bombs and has had electricity all this time, I don't know how they'll make such a big, compact city feel post-apocalyptic.

That's a very good point...This could end up being a fantastic or horrible game. Hopefully it will be the former.

Well, the NCR capital (Shady Sands) is pretty big (over 3000 inhabitants) by the time of Fallout 2, even if it wasn't shown in its entirety in-game.

That's what worries me, we've never seen such a big city.

I don't think anyone else has posted this, but could the NCR have already taken over Vegas (Therefore establishing it by putting in the flag), then let the robots clean up the dead bodies?

It seems unusual to me that no one's mentioned how the robot's right-claw folds back onto the forearm. The holes in the ends of its arms definitely look like guns. I got the impression that it decided to prepare to fire if need be. The presence of the NC Ranger could be why. And it would also explain why his Vegas Vic face turns sour. Furthermore, it would suggest tension between NV and the NCR. I think it's very likely as some of you have said that NV is ran by mobsters. NCR has reached the area and will be at conflict with the corrupt city. Who better to be looking out upon the city than NCR's finest (or worst), the Rangers.

P.S.: I forgot to mention that the "graveyard" does def give vibes of organized crime. And organized crime is something the Rangers would def be quite adamant against.

I have a few speculations.

1. The Robot- Perhaps the man who is dead is the robots owner and he robot will not leave the body for some reason. Like bambi and his mom... (stupid I know).

2. I did see one person say possible it was a continuation of FO2's ending where the main hero winds up establishing a great community?

3. And the 7 on the side if his helmet could be the vault he is from as vaults 1-40 were east coast, i believe. Perhaps he is a by-product of an experiment gone wrong in Vault 7.

4. The MOST IMPORTANT ITEM: (IMO). When a film maker, a writer, or even video game designers want to relay a special message they always save it for the end as that is what the person will take away from it last and it will be the freshest idea in ones head. When it says "War... War never changes" i believe that means that there will be a major war between two major factions (as in previous FO games) and your character will be the deciding factor. Now we see that New Vegas is still intact which leads me to believe that there have been new attacks. Also that must mean they have great security. So the idea of Robots controlling most of the city is not that far-fetched.

That is how i feel anyways.

That character is in my humbold opinion a Desert Ranger from the NCR but for now its most probably just dissertation until the devs show some hard evidence but that "7" is peeking my curiosity... So good to finally have some good news, after the ME2 "RPG" fiasco i'll get my hands on a TRUE RPG this year. War... War never changes...
