New Vegas trailer discussion

Vault 101 is one of the very few vaults that were still unopened by 2277. Other vaults mostly opened and their inhabitants founded various communities, so it's pretty natural that Pip-Boys would be found in various places, especially ones like the NCR. And who says that Vault-Tec was the only company that bought Pip-Boys from RobCo (who actually produced it)?

Yeah, his name is Vegas Vic. I linked to the Wikipedia page about him already.

And there is this, from the boys who find everything first:

Agree with everything, but the teaser still seems to have the most in common with the F3 one - it may also be the intro of the game. Anyway, I can't really decide what to believe about the character. It's incredible how hyped up this trailer got so many people.
And what do you guys think about the hole on the left of the city? Looks too big to be a vault entrance.

I was so incredibly happy watching that trailer..Finally, ohh yes! And it seemed lately ive been having a hard time playing fallout 3 without getting bored..

To be frank, I really wouldnt care if they didnt change anything at all, if they made the game almost like a huge DLC, Ide still have some much fun with it....

Wow. Just...Wow. I literally cannot wait. I just have one fear though; That this game doesnt turn up like Modern Warfare 2. That, so to speak the game doesnt sell out like MW2 and pump the game with stupid ideas ripped from action movies and other games. When I heard Ron Perlman's voice I nearly crapped my pants. YESSS!

Of course, if it is like the FO3 one...the intro, that guy is just some guy, just like the power armor wearing guy in the FO3 intro was just some guy. That's not a fun answer, but there it is.

Yeah, he's likely a generic NCR ranger/soldier, like the FO3 one was a generic BoS paladin.

Uhuh, thanks, I noticed everything. I was just saying the structure is almost the same as the F3 one. The speculation about the character just rounds everyone up because there's not much we know until now.

If you read the overview of F:NV on the official website there is definite mention of a vault. To me this seems to imply the PC will once again be a vault dweller.

Yeah, but they mention the vault in the "it's all a Vault-Tec simulation!" context, same as with their description of Fallout 3. While a vault or vault is pretty likely to appear, it might not necessarily be the starting point.

The guy in the teaser is most likely an NCR ranger or soldier.

Who says its a guy?
theres just as much of a chance its female.
Geez, dont just assume its a male.

That "vault tec simulation" was a fun way to refer to THE GAME itself.

Yup, it resembles the Stratosphere, but doesn't seem to look exactly like it. Also, someone on the NMA forums managed to see something resembling... the Palazo, i think.

Yeah, which is why it doesn't really tell us much about what we should expect in New Vegas.

And one of the reasons that the Stratosphere is replaced by a different, but similar looking building might be because the actual Stratosphere is trademarked.

Yes, thought about that. But I hope it follows the same real-world architecture direction like F3, where many well-known buildings will be reproduced or refered to in the game. Actually, it already seems pretty clear this is how it's going to be and it's perfect.

Y'know, with there only being 121 Vaults in the USA, and a ton of 'em being in the Capital Wasteland, and many being covered in other Fallout games, how many are left for FNV and other future Fallout titles?

Well, not many were presented in detail in the games. In F3 for example, we only see about 5-6 of them. And the situation is not very different in the other games, you don't see tons of them in detail. So there are still enough for games. Plus, as time goes on, we may be presented with the evolution of the Fallout universe - for example the situation in New Vegas - and maybe move on from vaults... but not completely. It probably wouldn't be Fallout otherwise.

I think 1 to 3 vaults per game is enough. Fallout 3 had way too many of them for such a small area (as many as in the entire California combined).

My thoughts exactly. The number of vaults in Fallout 3 were overwhelming.

Yeah it's not like there would be a high concentration of nuclear fallout shelters in the nation's capital. that's just effing stupid and unrealistic.

Well, it's not as if the government itself used any of these vaults. They were safely hidden in private or Enclave shelters while the common folk were subject to experiments in the vaults. And I don't think one city (even as important as the capital) should have more vaults than the most populous state in the country.

Well, when there are only 121 vaults for the whole country, yeah sure the capital would have a lot, but not that many. But besides, the vaults were never made to save anyone anyway.

As did I, but with the number of vaults in FO3 and past Fallout game combine, and there only being 121 vaults, that doesn't leave much for future games.

The Vaults were never meant to protect anyone, so it didn't matter if they were in the middle of nowhere or in the center of a city. As long as they had all the lab rats they needed, they were set.
