Man... Lee Ho-Suk and Lee Jung-Su are beasts. South Korea would have had 5 out of the 6 medals given out in Men's Short Track Speed Skating had they avoided the crash. Now it's 3-3 with America... crazy (although they do have the golds!).

I am not a big hockey fan, but if it is on at 8 EST, it requires watching.

I like to watch the (long track) speed skating. Of all the sports I have tried it is the one I have the most skill in. I don't really like the figure skating, to me it is just a series of tricks on skates.

It is the Canada vs USA ice hockey match tonight (in my time zone that is). I'm wondering; is this a game with a lot of rivalry?

I know that the Sweden vs Finland hockey match is a hot-headed rival battle.

Tell me about it. A finish guy I know online didn't talk to me for a week after they lost against us in the finals last Olympics.

We have 4 medals now, all in speedskating (2 gold from the men, silver and bronze for the women), which is practically the only wintersport that is popular in the Netherlands. The only other sports that we are even competing in (but have virtually no chance of winning a medal in), is boblsleigh, snowboarding and shorttrack.
Still, we have 2 big chances of a gold medal (Sven Kramer on the 10K, and the speedskating team pursuit), so we may end up with 4 gold medals.

Yeah, a border rival, just like Sweden vs Finland.

Agh, dammit! Russia vs. Czech Rep. ended 4-2 after some REALLY intense action at the end where the Czechs were chasing 3-3. I was really cheering for them but they didn't make it anyway :nope:

Well, I'd better start getting psyched for Sweden vs. Finland then! GO SWEDEN!

Even our troops had it out in Afghanistan in game of ball hockey in honour of the Olympics.

That moron Brodeur better not be in net when the 3rd period starts. I missed the first goal as I was coming in the door, but USAs last 2 goals have been because of stupid moves by him. Hell, he even has an assist on himself...

Wow, Brodeur isn't playing well... On USA's 4-2 goal he had his stick in the right place, but he was holding it so loosely that it gave way for the puck and it went past him... Pretty poor, really.

Really entertaining game, on another note.

EDIT: And Rafalski is playing the best game of his life.
EDIT 2: And what a goal by Kesler! Insane!

Yup, not impressed with Brodeur. I've always liked Roberto Loango being a Canuck fan. (If I cheer for anyone.) Sure wish he had played. :(

Good job team USA. That was a very exciting game. I thought we had a chance up til the empty net goal.

Sure glad that wasn't for the gold!

Ryan Miller was a beast. Great game from Team USA. Guess playing in the Olympics, on home ice, against the Americans isn't enough to pump up some of those players. Some pretty poor play on Canada's side, especially in the first period. What in the hell was Brodeur doing in net? I couldn't have been the only one seeing how garbage he was, the commentators never seemed to mention it and for some reason he was kept in net the whole game.

edit: To clarify, there was some great playing by some on Canada, but a pretty poor showing by others. But I'm cranky cause we lost and the fact I don't think NHL players should be in the Olympics just adds to it :P

Oh, and Miller was on fire! There were some sweet saves in there. We doubled+ the shots on goal, but the US made what they took count more. My adrenalin is still pumping. B)

P.S.

Oh they mentioned it. They said that the US was playing him like a fiddle, in not so many words. They knew his weakness and played to it. He fell hook line and sinker.
