Patch 1.4 Discussion Includes Changelog!

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 8:10 am

Judging from the chagelog for the patch, this is a very good start. I need answers to a few questions though.

Finding Pantea's Flute before speaking with Pantea no longer prevents her quest from updating
The other two fetch quests for Bards college are also bugged. Does the patch fix them too?

Can you sell the Eyes of the Falmer to Delvin Mallory now?

Clearing Movarth's Lair before getting the associated quest made the game CTD every time i tried to enter it afterwards. I have read reports of people having the same issue with other locations. Has this been fixed?

Has the quest "Hard Answers" been fixed so it does not trigger every time you enter the Dwemer Museum?

In the quest "Speaking with Silence", does Mercer Fray now open the door to Snow Veil Sanctum instead of standing around doing nothing?

What about the missing dialog option ("Reporting for duty") that made it impossible for the civil war quests to progress?

Will the patch fix Estbern's missing dialog issue when the Dragonborn first meets him?

Will finding Leifnarr's body before getting the related quest prevent it from triggering?

They still have the 200 post limit here?! Someone needs to tell the mods that issue has been resolved AGES ago.

I have to agree, I think that is a very stupid rule. I can understand it when there was an issue, but as someone who has owned forums, and been a staff member to a number of successful forums, I can't imagine placing a rule like that on my community. If Beth doesn't want to pay for bandwidth or better servers... then allow the community to run there own forum and link it. There are plenty of free awesome forum host out there with near 100% uptime.

Sorry just felt like ranting about that...

Glad to see patch 1.4, can't wait!

What about the Rjorn Drum glitch... that poxy thing is still in my inventory, and I've got Thingys Lute.

Been to the Bards College and spoken to the people who were all too pleased to take them... only they didn't.

And here we are a few patches later and no fix.

Sort it out!

There are tons of bugs not listed there, even though I submitted them. They can't address all at once.

I'm not asking they address all the bugs at once, but this Rjorns Drum business has been bandied about on this forum for months... you would have thought this might have cropped up on someone's radar by now.

They may not be able to remove a glitched quest item from an existing save, only stop it happening in a new game.

I hope Fallout 4 is an Obsidian project. I want that heretical amulet out of my possession.
that won't happen, and FO3 is legendary and FONV isn't. bethesda is way ahead of obsidian when it comes to open world games. its not even close, as decent as new vegas was, and it was a decent game, but it didn't have the impact FO3 had, it just didn't, but anyway, obsidian won't be making FO4, but they might make one after. i'm all for that.

A-ha.... I take back my previous rant if that is the case. However, it does svck that as a level 40 character I am now stuck with these items in my inventory for another 40 levels!

I knew I should have got this on PC - one swift consol command would have sorted this.

Nothing on them fixing followers not leveling with the player. At this point that's what I want to see fixed the most, I have no broken quests.

Exactly. This really svcks far more then some minor quest bugs.

No, the 200 post rule is not because of any technical issue, but more of a social one. A thread will usually reach 200 posts point at page 7. Most people will be more likely to read page 5 of 7 rather than page 5 of 25

Also, by keeping the post limit at 200, new threads will have to be made, and this keeps the people fresh at what exactly is being talked about. Last time I saw a thread about "Why is Tamrielan calendar similar to Gregorian?", and by the 4th page, it's already about History Channel

If you're on the PC and have completed the Bards Quests and want to remove the Bards Quest Musical Instruments from your inventory, open up the console and type these three commands (without the quotes)

Rjorn's Drum - "player.removeitem 000DABA9 1"
Pantea's Flute - "player.removeitem 000DABA7 1"
Finn's Lute - "player.removeitem 000DABAB 1"

Check your inventory after typing in each command line separately and make sure the item has gone, just incase you made an error.

 Still, if Obsidian makes more Fallouts i hope they take a few clues on open world design from Bethesda. AND NOTHING ELSE!

I agree with the OP, Forsworn Conspiracy needs to be fully fixed, not just one issue within the mine. It's very thankful that this quest is optional to do because more people would complain about it if it wasn't.

My first play through, everyone of those instruments got stuck in my inventory, so I never went back to the bards college since then.

I just finished Forsworn Conspiracy last night and never had an issue. Not sure why some things work for some and not for others. The only real issue I've had is the missed up quests with Blood on the Ice and getting the Windhelm house. That, and several potential spouses don't work for one reason or another.

What bugs is is that Bethesda can't seem to fix these things, but as soon as the CC comes out someone will make a mod that fixes next to all of them within a week. How can they be that hard to fix if a user can fix it for them that fast? Bethesda is used to letting users fix there games, that is true, but now with all the console users I'm not so sure they should be depending on that anymore.

I didn't see a fix for the spell absorption glitch. If you have a high spell absorption and then try to cast a summon spell the absorption would absorb the spell. Really irritating for a mage with the atronach stone, perk, or both.

SPOILER

Still would like to know if this patch is going to fix the Thieves Guild bugs. Karliah being stuck at either Frozen Hearth or Snow Veil, Nightengale Hall not updating after returning the Skeleton Key and a few other bugs. Most of the Thieves Guild wont acknowledge the player as Guild Master. Plus I'd like to think, that much like the Companions and Dark Brotherhood, once you become leader of the Guild you should be able to get a few followers.

Something hits me be as being weird.

The last two patches that got released they couldn't release patch notes because they can be altered on the last minute.
Now they release patch notes while the patch hasn't even reached certification? What is up with that? Why the sudden change.

Methinks those are the "100% will be in the patch" notes instead of actual notes.
If not, then the patch is already finished, only awaiting the green light from SONY and Microsoft

In “Under New Management”, if the player leaves the Oculory for an extended period of time after placing the focusing crystal and returns, the quest will proceed correctly

?? "Under New Management" is the end of the Thieves Guild questline, which I've done twice now. What Oculory? What Focusing Crystal?
