Patch #1 Unofficial bugfix

Post » Sun May 27, 2012 12:13 pm

If you have an AMD card and are having issues with black boxes on the fire spells, open up your Catalyst and go to Gaming>>3D Application Settings>>Catalyst A.I. and be sure to uncheck 'Enable Surface Format Optimization'. Worked for me. :celebration:

Its pretty lame that something like this is necessary right after launch, they have a official patch on the first game, as well as numerious pc issues, such as the much touted ui, which is [censored] for pc, as well as the textures, not to mention just consolization in general...

Sorry for the rant, had to get it out, thanks for the patch, skyrim will need lots of 'em.

Do you recommend anything I could do to improve performance? I'm happy to play on Medium/High but I really want the FPS to be 60+.

The biggest improvement for performance (same as Oblivion) is to turn the grass completely off. That grass makes a huge difference.

This isn't a performance patch, it fixes a few of the annoying graphical bugs.

Anyway I just wanted to say thank you for this, this solved the invisible cobwebs, magic effects, weather particles etc...all of that. Finally the game looks great and runs great! :)

Wondering what happened to the "Steam will allow us to give you updates and fixes on the fly!" So far I only see the one, and it doesn't address some of the more serious issues a large number of us seem to be experiencing.

Will this fix the issue of shadows going haywire and becoming blocky as if they are low res and unfiltered. And, rather unfortunately, persisting as such at any shadow quality level?

I have a wierd bug where the texture level of detail changes at random and also can make some walls inside dungeons transparent, the texture usually flicks between to states a good one and a messed up one. Anyone also with the problem?

Having the same problem as Delaurn; whenever I put the files in the folder, the game crashes whenever I try to open it.

edit* Apparently, trying to start the game from the launcher with these files installed doesn't work; loading the game straight from the .exe works however! :celebration:

Does anybody fixed long lines of stretched geometry with this patch? And what about performance, is it better?
BTW i don't understand why from time to time game running at 7 fps and after restart as normal, 25-45 fps. Can't find any dependency yet. May be just unlucky memory fragmentation, because the game not utilize more than 500-600 mbytes.

It doesn't seem to be doing anything for the stretchy trees.

Will this correct the "vibrating/flickering" low resolution shadows?

It's really my only complaint with the game at this point.

Hi guys
Sorry for not tracking this topic frequenlty, i'm too much busy with developing graphic modification.

Don't know what happened if game crashes with patch installed, there a solution on page 2 of this thread, as i understood.

Pixelated shadows is not a game bug, but i fixed it and update will be available in graphic mod version of ENBSeries (higher precision of shadow texture, very noticable on actors).

Bug with trees still unknown for me, can't simulate it, so can't fix, sorry.

It don't help my perfomance at all. I get 60fps and a massive jump down to 30fps all the time with or without this. Bascically because this is a console port it... well people won't lke this

*sigh* it needs to be capped at 30fps. So a mod like the stutter remover mods for fallout/oblivion would help me and alot of people out.
It needs to be capped at 30fps? Hell no. But yes, I would like consistent 60fps+ without the nasty dips.

Are you sure that EVGA, Afterburn, XFire are not running? Because if it crashing, then it's only could be these tools or display driver (in such cases older drivers may help. video drivers are most damn buggy thing on the planet).

I tried using this fix last night, and while the game started up fine, the second I tried and load a save, it crashes to the desktop.

I'm not running xfire, afterburn, or anything to that effect, and the drivers for my ATI Mobility HD 3650 (Yeah I know >_>) are up to date. Do I need to roll back to an earlier version?
