Patch #1 Unofficial bugfix

Post » Sun May 27, 2012 3:48 am

The patch has replaced my 5 to 7 second screen freezes with a 1/2 second stutter every so often, so I'm pleased. Thanks for providing the community with a patch to help us enjoy the game. This was with version 1, I'll give your latest patch version a try tonight.

So i gave ENB a try and thus far it seems to work BUT there seems to be something messing with the interior cells. I'll keep it simple:

ENB on -> major stuttering inside 'High Hrothgar'
ENB off -> no stuttering

havn't checked on other interiors yet but i'm pretty sure it'll be present there too.

I've noticed that this patch seems to make interiors/dungeons more demanding than exteriors...i think it's with shadows. On my system at least - the shadow fix appears to work on interiors but exterior shadows still look jagged. You can still see the black pixel artifacts on the characters face/rocks etc. Inside though they are smoothed but the frames drop as well....which v4 singlecore tweak helped with...but still looking to pick up a few frames with other tweaks.
But the other thing is that if i try other skyrimprefs.ini tweaks with this patch installed it will crash the game. So right now it's an "either/ or" situation.
V4 is the least laggy of the ENB patches so far though & really helped power through the loading times.

This patch works great but it lowers my fps by about 50%, i tested outside in riverwood and my fps dropped from 40 to 21.

edit:sorry the v4 patch gives me much better fps, i only experience a loss of 5% or so now, and mostly only when there is smoke/mist on the screen, and my indoor performance seems better

Just wanted to say "Thanks!" and "THIS WORKS!"

I was having the 2-7 second freezing issue.

I used the tactic of running in win95 mode and that removed the freezing, but I had to do very low settings.

Now I am in between High/Ultra, not using the win95 option, and everything is smooth and crisp!

Thanks! I'm glad ENB did this.. I'm equally discouraged that Bethesda failed to communicate more with players having this issue and failed to come up with their own fix.

Got a question:
Will installing this "unofficial patch" modify my game files so that they can only be applied with the patch installed? I don't want to lose my saves if Bethesda eventually fixes things and I want to revert off of the unofficial patch.

I didn't have to install those at all, but if you do, try putting them to the same directory with the Skyrim executable and the other dll.

Oh wow.. The 4th patch fixed my framerate problems... I only tried in smaller towns yet, but the game runs fast. I'll check out the bigger cities soon.

Though this patch also gave me a new problem, my mouse became "skippy". Sometimes it just skips a little and the crosshair just "teleports" in the direction i was turning, instead of smoothly moving there...

Edit: Okay, disabling the 2 threading values fixed the mouse problem, the game runs fine now! Thank you very much ENBdev :)

Edit2: It seems like disabling the threading values also cause some graphical bugs, like invisible people, ect... :/ It seems like i'll need to get used to the skippy mouse :(

i tested it with disabling the shadowfix in the config and it made no difference. also i experience no drop in fps but what appears to be frameskipping. i presume it's related to the threading methods of the fix

I had the exact same experience with the temporary freezing issue. This patch FIXED IT and the game runs very smoothly at high graphics settings.

Yeah, the software industry gets away with murder when it comes to shipping defective products and fixing them up later (if at all).

Now that the game runs smoothly I am enjoying it a lot!

Patch 4 seemed to add the persistent stutter while walking/running. This was not there in patch 1. I have not tried 2 and 3 yet.

As in PM:
Your ENBSeries patch is really useful but it make my fps drops. Also the latest optimized release.
Can you realize a "light" version that only fixes glitches but not improve the quality?

p.s. d3dx9_26.dll and d3dx9_40.dll goes in Skyrim main folder?

Quoting myself to hopefully get an answer to this question.

Wow your latest patch made a huge difference in my FPS! Probably a 20-30% increase in all but cities. Not to mention it seems to fix some graphical errors I can't even place my fingers on this time around, but it introduced slotted shadows on interiors =/ I have no clue why it did this either XD but disabling the shadow fix doesn't resolve it.

Tried the latest patch and I've noticed a significant improvement in cities and outdoors. Normally I would get around 35-40 fps, now around 45-60 fps. Awesome!

I've stated this in the WinXP 2-7 second freeze thread, but I'll mention it again here: patch 4 causes Skyrim to immediately CTD when trying to launch. The previous versions worked fine, strangely enough.

hey, i posted in your other thread but will also post here in case (sorry for the spamming):

I tried your patch yesterday, didn't seem to have an effect (running 560 sli)
I haven't been able to find an error like mine here, some people get it rarely, while for me it's the only error - I get 'locked out' when I enter new areas sometimes (mainly back door of Jorrvaskr), meaning the world is rendering around me, people are walking/talking, i get prompts to level-up etc.. the game even starts doing the camera-spinning-round-player-when-idle eventually. everything is peachy, BUT, i can't do anything, not even ctrl-alt-del and such. have to restart the PC. :banghead:

So yeah... I tried out going into a big city (Markarth) with the new patch... and yep... it still drops my framerate like hell... nothing changed there. HOWEVER outdoors and indoors my framerate became much much better, i have no lag anywhere else other than cities... It's a huge improvement for me :) I hope for a city fix as well.

Edit: I'm experiencing some bugs still since i use this patch... sometimes parts of the map disappear or interiors or people in whole... I have to restart the game to fix these..

Really wanted to use this, but it overwrites any injector (for sharpening, bloom and such) so it's a no-go. :(
