Ponyshock Infinite

Post » Thu May 10, 2012 12:15 am

Yep, they're just tacking infinite on to the Bioshock franchise to make some more money, no mystery about it.

Yes, this game definitely reeks of being a cash cow. :shakehead:

I believe in an interview Levine said that Bioshock Infinite is a spiritual successor to Bioshock, and that they felt that they told the story they wanted to with Rapture, keeping in mind that 2K Marin worked on Bioshock 2 and not Irrational Games.

Like System Shock 2, a dumbed down sequel to System Shock.
*Pulls up a theater chair and popcorn* This is gonna be good.

Edit @ Gnome- Yeah, but at least 2k changed the name to reflect this, they obviously tacked the Bioshock name in attempt to lure in those who are unaware and say, 'Hey, Bioshock was good, maybe THIS will be too!'. While there's nothing wrong with sequels, but riding off a games coattails without any relations to it, it makes me leary to touch it.

Anyway, for me games are a form of art and entertainment, I really don't care for their complexity or "depth", I care for their entertainment value. I wouldn't play a fun-less depth game as much as I would play a extremely-fun depth-less game. (IMO)
Thats the thing though, I have yet to play a complex game that is not entertaining. they give more entertainment value than a simple game developer could ever dream of.
Although a bit of mindless shooting can be fun sometimes, they are not worthy!
And it begins. :read:
Now you play close attention now! :)

I would really edit that post if I were you. Calling people names such as a "creature who dwells under bridges" can get you a warning from a mod.

C'mon, they removed the entire cyberspace feature... dumbed down for those casual gamers. Not to mention SS2 has less weapons than SS1.

How was I trolling? Proposing the same question that you have no valid argument for automatically marks me as a troll? I was being dead serious, now answer my question.

I have neither stated I have or have not played the games, which is irrelevant to my question. That said, you are dodging my question, which I remind you, is just as legitimately asked as yours you proposed to Narmy.

Yes, that is definitely a gameplay of SS1. But I had heard about this new footage of Dishonored, so thanks for posting it. :)

then it's a completely different universe?
apparently so.

Irrational Games has not confirmed if BioShock Infinite shares the same universe with these titles

Stole that from the wiki. I'm thinking it is the same universe. Purely by speculation.

What speculation? It would be something worth mentioning no by someone in Rapture no? Or any of the BioShock universes other material such as the book. If Infinite is in the same universe then Ken Levine will be dead to me... again.

then it's a completely different universe? because the stories of 1 and 2 said plasmids and ADAM were discovered at the ocean's floor because of those slugs
No, same universe just a different time. From what you're saying Fallout 2 onward aren't Fallout because they have NCR&Enclave but Fallout 1 never, or that Fallout 1 isn't Fallout because it's missing them.

You must not remember properly then, you are flat out wrong, sorry
Nope my opinion on FFXIII being better isn't wrong until I make it so ;)

Same here. Glad I read this thread. Now I know to adjust my expectations accordingly. Bit of a shame. I was looking forward to this.

I don't think it's wrong to still look forward to this, but when a game is labeled as '(Big name franchise) (Number or title)' and has absolutely no correlation with the game other than 'Not Big Daddies' and 'Not plasmids', it makes me question if the game isn't just an attempt to keep the company afloat.

Ken Levine is awesome! Although he sold out by making the Bioshock series (the audience did not really give him a choice) he is still a genius.

But the game has the same spirit has Bioshock. Some examples of the parallels:

Big Daddies - Songbird and Heavy Hitters
Factions: Atlas (sorta) vs. Ryan - Vox Populi vs. Founders
Dystopic Cities: Rapture, a failed underwater paradise free from government control - Columbia, a failed flying city that was intended to show the world the innovative ideas the US had and what they had to offer
Protagonist: Jack - Booker (though he talks a lot more)
Moral Dillemas: Kill or Save Little Sister - Use or Not to Use Elizabeth's powers at the risk of her health and safety
Splicers - Citizens of Columbia

And I am missing a few, but the point is that even though it is not the same Bioshock, Infinite is still a Bioshock game.

I don't think it will be "bad" solely for the fact that the developers are using the same name (Bioshock) to attract more people to their product. :P

Anyway, I think that "Columbia" by itself would be a cool name. Even "Rapture" would have been a good name. xD
