Ponyshock Infinite

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 9:08 pm

And I am missing a few, but the point is that even though it is not the same Bioshock, Infinite is still a Bioshock game.
Exactly. Why is it such a big deal that they're using the Bioshock name for this game?

There are plenty of sequels that are similar in gameplay but tell a different storyline, and it's not like they called it Bioshock 3 so why would you expect Rapture?

I don't care what anyone is saying about it. I'm just gonna buy the game if it gets a good review and see how it plays.

I really want to play this, but buy and play through the original and Bioshock 2. I've heard that the original will be on the Bioshock infinite disk, but Irrational hasn't Emailed me back to confirm it and say how it works.

I want to know before I buy the first one.

No, same universe just a different time. From what you're saying Fallout 2 onward aren't Fallout because they have NCR&Enclave but Fallout 1 never, or that Fallout 1 isn't Fallout because it's missing them.
completely different scenarios... factions can easily only exist in specific locations, an invention based on a discovery however, cannot exist before the necessary discovery that led to the invention was discovered
(the modern tire/wheel would not exist without the discovery of rubber, the light bulb would not exist without the discovery of glass)

either the in game lore was false or the universe is a different universe where plasmids were actually discovered some other way

Well maybe the vigors will be the something invented in space by a mad scientist and then the whole space station blows up and then the stuff gets sunk into the ocean and all the stuff like adam and whatnot gets rediscovered years later at the bottom of the ocean and they rebuild a station down there to save humanity and then Bioshock 1-2 happen. But it's not a prequel because even though its the same universe, the people on earth don't know about what's going on in the sky so the stuff gets rediscovered and all the people on earth think that this stuff is really from the ocean.

Or something... the point is, they can make something up to explain "holes" in the lore. Or, they just created a game that has a different story and reused what they already had and called it something else. I guess that would be cheap, but I find the gameplay fun anyways and you can see games games doing that all the time. Madden releases a game every year that basically is just a roster update, and Call of Duty releases the same game every year so it wouldn't be something new for a game company to do. Names sell, and since it has the Bioshock title on it, it will sell and I'll buy it. But not because of the name recognition but because from the first 15 minutes, even if its not the same universe, the game looks awesome.

I was wondering too. Perhaps it is accessed through the XMB like with LittleBigPlanet 2's Extras section, or maybe it is an option on the main menu. Or, though this wouldn't be on the disc, there could be a code that comes with the game that can be used to redeem Bioshock. But I guess we will find out closer to the game's release. Keep me posted on their reply.

RPS has been doing quite a few pieces about B:I lately, and... eerh.

You get the impression the game's desperately different -- that is, for the sake of it, rather than because a difference would improve the experience. I was pretty excited for this before. But the combination of a tacked on brand name and these articles... It could still turn out to be good, but I doubt it.

There is something called Vigors which will not require a magical recharge with EVE. So Plasmids are not in the game but there equivalent is Vigors. It's an earlier time period, maybe they aren't as advanced.

Looks amazing, but I am more interested in the background of the screenshot. Is that snow?

It looks rather stupid.
I think the snow is artificial since it looks like it's inside a building of sorts.

I said the same thing about two weeks ago. Then I bought 1 and 2 for $20 and have been having a blast tearing through both them.

I just watched the gameplay trailer finally from E3 last year and it looks weak compared to the original 2. Not even part of the same storyline anymore and I am not sure if I will waste my time buying it to play.

Honestly, I would have preferred signing like in The Odyssey, but she still seems cool.

EDIT: Accidentally said the Lost Odyssey, which turned out to be a JRPG. :P

Looks like it's been delayed until February of 2013. http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/09/bioshock-infinite-delayed/
