Ponyshock Infinite

the name and general design of the game is the only tie ins. but the whole series is a pathetic spin off of system shock series anyway.
Oh, the 'everything new is terrible' approach, how inventive. You have the worst case of nostalgia goggles I've ever seen.

no you're just ignorant. i played bioshock first, then system shock 2 last year. so much for nostalgia goggles huh. played deus ex 1 before both though, which is even better! (same type of game)

I avoided BioShock 2 because of the whole little sister escort thing. Not my cup of tea. Bioshock however, is one of my all time favourite games. Rapture is a great world.

Is there a set release for this? I'm very interested in the locale and premise of the game. :)

if you like bioshock, (which IS a good game) you owe it to yourself to play Sshock 2. its 10x better. bioshock 2 was just bio1 all over again with 1 or two improvements.
i am really looking forward to infinite though, especially with the recent announcement of "1999 mode".

wait what? bioshock 1 is one of your fav games yet you avoided bio2 just because of the little sister escort thing? thats just funny. even more so because of the fact that it was entirely optional hahaha

Turns out it's not a set date but rather just sometime this year.

Yeah I read a little on that mode, now that sounds like a real challenge and would defenetly give me hours of fun and rage :)

Unless your choices come to a point where you needed to donate your ammo to a begger then the next door you go to has a Big Daddy house party in it, but you don't have a recent save and would need to reverse back several hours to avoid that scenario, oh imagine the horror

Me: No Big Daddy stay back
*Raises hand doing the stop sign with a palm showing*
*ARHGKRKLSUDRILLSOUNDBONECRUNCHING*
Me: OW!! My hand, why did I give that begger my stuff.
*Looks behind*
*Begger is prancing around firing the guns in the air, all 1000 machine gun rounds gone*
Me: *Sigh*
*Black screen - Death*
Repeat x20

Well, I say that but I work abroad a lot and I miss games sometimes. I haven't played New Vegas yet either. I was away when BioShock 2 came out and when I came home, I never got round to buying it. What made me not rush out and get it, was the fact you had to look after little sisters all the time? Is that not the case? I hate nothing more than timed and escort missions...

As far as I remember there are only a few times when you're forced to do it, but you generally have to do it fairly often to get enough ADAM for the best plasmids and stuff. I don't much care for escorting the sisters either, but I still really enjoyed the game, but the Minerva's Den DLC is even better (at least story-wise) IMO.

Shut up about System Shock 2. This thread isn't even about System Shock 2, yet you felt the need to go on about it anway for no good reason.

I admit after Bioshock 2 I was left very disappointed and wasn't expecting much when Infinite was announced. However after finally getting around to watching some trailers and reading up on it I am really looking forward to this game.

Bioshock 2 wasn't even made by Irrational Games, it was handled by 2K Marin. So I would take Bioshock 2 with a grain of salt.

About the whole System Shock 2 debate; I haven't played the game before, therefore it does not exist. Same goes for Dragon Age, DOTA, and League of Legends.

Exactly the same way I feel about Brink. It was the prettiest and most balanced multiplayer game that I have ever played, but there was absolutely no replay value to it. After 3 hours I was left feeling empty, and I sold the game the next day. :(

System Shock 2 is more or less irrelevant to Bioshock's storyline, apdenton is just here to be a negative nancy. Bioshock is a 'spiritual successor' to it, meaning Bioshock was inspired by SS2, and that's where it ends.

But Bioshock was great, Bioshock 2 was sort of eh. Not terrible, it just felt rushed in certain points.

Agreed. Stuff like the flooding of Siren Alley was awesome, but there were bits that just felt like they went on too long. Also, I thought Persephone was probably the weakest area (except for the Little Sister part) and the worst to finish on. I also just think starting from the idea of making a whole game out of the worst part of BioShock 1 was really dumb. Considering the amount of extra effort you had to go to if you didn't want to harvest sisters, there should have been way more reward (or at least no Big Sister spawning).

The real problem I had with Bioshock 2 is that it's a game that had little reason for exisisting. Bioshock has virtually no ribbons left untied unless you count the question of 'What happened to Sander Cohen?' which is never even explained. Bioshock had a beginning, climix, and end. Bioshock 2 on the whole felt rushed and cash cow. But, for a cash cow game it's fairly decent.

We get it. You hate Bioshock and love System Shock 2. But, a lot of people love Bioshock, the game series this thread is about. I think this thread has been derailed quite enough, so Moving. On.

I'm actually really looking forward to Infinite. I'm not really sold on the whole thing where each "plasmid" uses its own ammo instead of EVE yet, but I'm sure I'll get used to it.

I do like the whole tears system with Elizabeth though. It seems like it'll make it so every battle can play out differently depending on what you do or don't tell Elizabeth to do, and choices like that are what Bioshock is about.

bioshock is nothing compared to system shock 2! NOTHING!

Watch out! We got a really devoted fan over here.

Edit: ROFL!
I actually said fan.boy. Is that a bad word?

Mostly it's censored because calling some people a 'Fan Boy' really sets them on fire. Others wear it as a badge of pride, like me when someone calls me a Fallout Fan boy.

besides 1999 is not exactly old.
Not old? In video game terms (and technology in general) that's ancient.

This. It horrifies me to think that games that are still super cool from my childhood (To me) are now considered relics.

But the thing is, the Video Game industry is CONSTANTLY changing. The type of popular genre, the niche genres, the 'style' of what a 'typical' gamer wears. Et cetera. And like any form of electronic media, 13 years is a life age ago. Just look at the kids of today, some of them don't even know what a bloody CD is, let alone records. Same will apply to Video Games. "Hey Dad, what's a SNES?"

Edit: I just realised I said the same exact thing you did, just more verbose.
