who said they were short (other than in game giants supposedly) and who confused them with the traditional LoTR dwarves, the name is quite clear dwe...mer (mer = elves)
noone specifically said they were short, but alot of people do confuse them for being short.

To be honest, I think the best way to handle this would be to add Dwemer into some form of DLC.
I would happily pay for a DLC that added several underground Dwemer cities that were up to this point unknown about, full of Dwemer and their crazy contraptions.

The Dwemer are in space. Most likey have a civilization on the red moon, with skyscraqers and machinecults.

They were not 'uncreated' they were bound to the divine being of their creation, the Numidium, in the same way that over ambitious mage in the CoW gets bound to the Dovahkiin. They didn't become Gods, but they became A god. Sorta.

As for making a firebal out of magicka, its energy forming. Magicka is a raw energy soucre that, through mental fortitude can be used to create. Fireball is easy, its just thermal agitation. Bound weapons, thats harder, because you actually have to condense said energy into matter, then shape that matter.

you sir should work for those trying to explain how technology and fantasy works in all manner of popular fiction...be it.... starwars and star trek....etc....Otherwise a missed calling I think (get the pun the dwemer dwarves calling...telepathy)

yeah I know they were supposed to be the skin or so, others class it as being uncreated...eitherways in a world were you can create fireballs from energy why is it so inconciveable that the dwemer could not return be it by some mystic energy or what not.....you lore hacks get so defensive when your view of lore is challenged....and apparently lack any sort of humour where the lore itself is concerned.........beardy disappearing artists not strike any bells that it was a tongue and cheek statement...and I love all you lore masters coming on trying to talk down to others who know the game just as well.....oh yeah I've heard that a new race is being introduced in TES6.....the ludites they are defenders of in game lore and hunt down any determined to change it.....happy days :)

Yeah spaces dwarves....sorry space dwemer.....doubt some of you would have come across heroes of might and magic 7, that had a twist of a space faring race in a fantasy setting, just weird..

Why do they have to 'come back'? Why can't it be some DLC where you find out where they went and perhaps go visit them? That way, they can stay wherever they are, and we can still have the fun ruins to play with...

i'd rather see something like you just happen to be wandering around the last battle area where they pulled their disappearing act , and see a rift like on the throat of the world. You would just be treated to the battle scene and the actual >poof< itself then BAM you're back in your time.Or possibly another found artifact like the wooden mask that would allow you to see some past event but has to be worn in a specific place. But yeah , my imagination is where the dwemer really thrive well.Just like this game , there's awesome stuff and disappointing stuff , and some things are just nice to imagine yourself with possibly a couple more tidbits thrown here and there.Just like I like my women , I want some imagination , some challenge , not just BAM full frontal nudity that's just well, tacky and shallow.

Urghh... aren't Dwemer extinct?

Depends. Even the last living dwarf himself is unsure if his people were completely destroyed or instead whole-sale removed to one of the Outer Planes in last-ditch-effort-towards-immortality-gone-horribly-bad.

Also people have to remember that dwarves (the correct term is dwemer) in this game are not the same as those found in more popular fantasy lore like Lord of the Rings.
Instead they are actually a race of elves of similar build to other elves. However the major difference lies in that the vast majority are depicted as having beards. Beyond that they are not short and stout, nor more heavily built than their other elven compatriots.
