Are you disappointed in the World Map?

Yep doesn't show roads clouds cover up things and it had bead lagg and screen tearing, but it showing the mountains is nice.

I never find any roads. I try to climb over the mountains and as straight as possible to the goal..

In theory, in practice it is pretty useless
I should've added sarcasm tags.

I have to say I'm not 'disappointed' with the world map as such. It did take some getting used to and i struggle to see roads etc. I also think the location icons are too bunch together so I keep accidently clicking the wrong thing. The fog also annoys me and you can hardly see the zoomed out version of the cities. But I can naviagte around it easy enough and it has grown on me since the release of this game.

Having said that, I would rather have the map from Oblivion.

I miss paper. You know the stuff that grows on trees?
It's a shame they don't just pick the paper off the trees. It would save a lot of forests.

I like the map myself. Seeing roads would help a lot, but I use it to find paths up the sides of some of the mountains. Of course, turning the clouds off really helps.

It serves its purpose. I didn't get lost or anything.

Well I like it for being able to see elevations clearly due "zoom" and rotation, even if not very realistic to be able to see that at least in those times with that tech. Function wise, it does the job. Immersion wise, it fails a little but it's not the worst offense in the game. If I should choose a map type I would choose the FarCry2 implementation:
* You can look at it while walking.
* Flip through world map (fully zoomed out), quarter map, and a detailed map (for indoors in Skyrim use).
* Could look like a paper map that "gets drawn" as you explore (fog of war).
* React to lighting conditions as you'd expect from a hand drawn map.
* Buy or find regional maps to fill in missing areas.
* Not "player centric", instead it flipped automatically. Without a player marker (option to disable), navigation by map could be fun.
