Anyone else wish they could change their character's looks?

Yes, I find that I am looking at my character's appearance all the time so naturally I find it is necessary to be able to change it... No I think Bethesda shouldn't waste the time on things like that when they could be using that time to make quests better. Seriously, how often are you looking at your character's appearance in Skyrim? it isn't like Oblivion where you actually got to see what they looked like up close.

Not all the time, but if you're roleplaying a character that spend months in the wild and he looks cleancut than it takea away from the experience. At least if you're a roleplayer, and this is a roleplaying game afterall.

And adding this option wouldn't take time away from developing new quests. The system that changes your character's appearance is already in the game. They can just activate (parts of) it through a mirror or barber NPC.

Besides your argument doesn't hold up, unless you find character appearance compleetly pointless. Because if you're not looking at your character than why have such a feature at all? Afterall in your opinion it just takes away precious time that could be used developing quests. So basically you're saying the whole thing is pointless because you don't look at your character. Well, I and apparantly many others do look at our characters. This feature is already in the game, so what is your problem with it?

Skyrim (like all TES before it) allows you to play the same characters for an unlimited amount of time. Unlike other games the game doesnt end when the story ends. For those who do even the tiniest bit of RPG this means your character changes over the many hours that you play. From barbarian to Imperial Legionair or from hunter to thief. At some point the chosen looks for your character just doesn't fit who he/she is anymore.

In my case my legion deserting Orc shouldn't look so clean anymore. I would like to change his hair, add a beard, some dirt and maybe even a scar and a tattoo.

I don't understand why Bethesda didn't add barber and tattooshops to the game. They already have the features build in the game, seems to me like an easy way to add some more diversity to cities. Not everyone has to use it, but for those who like it, it would be nice to have it. Even DA2 has an option to change your looks ingame, and it helped me make the game somewhat enjoyable (as a Hawke that visibily ages during his time in Kirkwall).

Anyone else who would like to give their characters's looks a make over (hairstyle/tattoo/scars/dirt/etc)?

P.S. I am aware PC gamers have an ''out of game'' option to do so, but most gamers play on other platforms.
I thought what they did in Fallout 3 was awesome. You could find an NPC who would give you the option to alter your appearance at any time in the game. I understand that in a game like this, cosmetic surgery is "realistic", but it's a video game. Not everything needs to be realistic. Just add a feature that allows me to change how my character looks, not too much to ask at all.

The cosmetic surgery system wasn't that realistic in FO3 either. Nobody recognized that you changed your appearance, even the surgent said they wouldn't notice. So even in FO3 it was just a cosmetic change, something added for roleplaying fans. It wasn't part of gameplay, just a ''semi-out of game'' method to change your appearance. Once done the player could make up whatever story they needed to accept these changed. They could ignore they ever happened, pretend their character aged, etc.

So for Skyrim they could add a illusion, alteration or restoration mage that offers a similar service. They can make up any can of ''semi-out of game'' story to vallidate it. From saying it is just an illusion to really altering your appearance through magic. Afterwards the player can decide what story they'll tell themselves. In the end it doesn't effect gameplay so you either use it or you don't.

I don't see ay vallid reason not to put it into the game, people who don't like it don't have to use it, people who do can easily be made happy as the system to change your appearance is already in the game, just locked away.

You should be able to! but it should cost like 3-5 perk points so its not done on a wimb. and you can still have character development.

I'm not really bothered about that, but it would be nice. What I don't like is you're not given a chance to make changes after the intro dungeon. So if you don't like something you have to go through almost the entire intro over (and over in my case, all frikken afternoon) again.

It would be cool to have like in the Fable games, but if they never implement it I can live with that as well.

Kingdoms of Amalur had a feature like this. In your house you could change your hair, tattoos, rings, facial hair by looking into the mirror. I think Skyrim should've included something like this in your personal house. Though on PC, just use the console to bring up character creation.

Wouldn't mind having a Barber to change the hairstyle.

Seconded. Most of my female toons would change their hair at least once.

My point is it seems pointless because again you do not look at your character's appearance all that often so why would you change it? For RP purposes I can understand that, but there are people who can not grow facial hair or anything so not having any change to your character's facial hair could be because of that, you know you are roleplaying. Anyway, I see your point though if it is the game already it is as simple as adding a barber because as far as I know I have not seen any mirrors in TES. Sorry for sounding like an ass I am in some pain, and it makes me a little irrational.

I do look at my characters I like to customize to fit the story I'm telling. Even if I didn't zoom in close every hour at least once, it would still be annoying that from the back he looks like he is still in the legion even though by now he should look like a wildling. If you roleplay a character that can't grow a beard than that is fine, just don't use the option to change your looks. It is not as if I'm asking for some natural growth feature that slowly has your hair and facial hair grow longer. I'm just asking for them to provide access to (parts of) the character creator from the beginning of the game.

If they only make it accesible in a purchased house than that is fine too. I would have to go out of my way to purchase it but I've got enough imagination to pretend it never happened just so I can continue to roleplay the character that I want to roleplay.

This is a great idea! I personally hadnt thought about this mainly because i play in first person only changing into third person when i want to.

Changing your hair style and warpaint would be good because after all its paint so it shouldnt be perfect all the time. as for the scars there shouldnt be an option where you 'add' or 'take' away a scar because if we think about it if there is that option that kinda means your character is self-harming :P so to combat this why not be able the function where in battle your character can gain scars and maybe a new spell/potion that you can craft to cure it?

Just a suggestion i think it could work

I would also like to see more options, however I hate the new CC they made for Skyrim. Outside doing a human female, The Dark Elf female CC is nasty unless you have mods on PC and I am on xbox. Mainly because I think STEAM STINKS. Soon after I started using Steam my computer crashed completely and now I am using a crappy Laptop till I get it fixed or a new one. The PC wasnt a P.O.S. either, it was top of the line Alienware AREA 51 with all the highest upgrades for gaming including dual 8 GB RAM and Quad GeForce GTX 295 cards. Let us just say I could play Crysis on full high graphics and sound among other games with no lag or freezing. Oops sorry went off topic, just woke up a few minutes ago....lol

Would be a nice option I guess. Just don't add [censored] hairdressers of any variety. Do it subtle infront of a mirror or similar.
