Introducing Kinect Support for 360 #2

But but but... I wasn't sayin' kids need to play more video games than everything else.

In the scope of video games they miss out on the greatest, but yea I would encourage any kid that actually takes interest in a book. They are a lost medium.

I read books as much as I play video games. (Stephen King and Michael Crighton for the win! Sorry if I mispelled.) Whenever I suggest a good book to a friend and their like "lol you reed buuks?" it pisses me off.

If your kid is interested in reading I have a great deal of respect for you sir! Too many parents now days just throw their kid in front of a tv and let their brain melt.

In short: old games > waving hands like mad for no reason

but

good books > Old games > waving hands like mad
Well I think some of the motion games are yeah, junk.

BUT - having the ps3-move and playing dance party `moved` (hurrr durr) my wife from hating our PS3 to (at times) loving it. She is slowly migrating to playing stuff like GT and Lego star wars with the kids and the other night we made a FONV character together. So I don't think the technology is all bad. That will help me justify purchasing the next gen, or even more games, which is nothing but good for the industry.

Because as paying consumers push money in you will see the sad state of some money grabbing developers puking broken junk to meet a release date (e.g. Bethesda) but I think it will also engender a flush of money that will spin off into support for small game studios who will really push the envelope. I think gaming as a main stream entertainment industry is still in its toddler stage, maybe primary school aged, hopefully maturity will bring with it some valuable principles and ethical standards.

Am i the only one who thinks all this motion control and kinect garbage is just... garbage? It never seems to be an improvement over the controller, and still vastly inferior to the keyboard + mouse. The video for skyrim's kinect support continues to support my conclusion. Bethesda should have put the time spent on kinect support towards more important things.

My biggest fear is that the industry will begin cutting corners on hand held control interfaces in favor of the motion and voice activated stuff. We already see how the PC ports are often hamstrung due to targeting interfaces for the limited controls on consoles.

Will we next see even the hand held controller be poorly implemented in favor of voice activated menus?

That sounds cool, but i asked gstaff if that is the big expansion he is talking about and he said this
”As Todd previously noted, the team are still working on something big.”

Guys, the DLC will come to all platforms. They announced before the game was resleased that PC and PS3 will get the DLC 30 days after it has been released on the 360.

Doesn't change the fact that I feel like a customer of lesser category...
