Just intimidate the mobs with a tank. I bet they wont be so rebellious after a 120mm is fired off somewhere.

OR they'll seize on the opportunity to unjustly declare their rioting and looting spree a successor to the Tiananmen protests.

It'd show you intend to commit mass murder if they don't stop. Their fight or flight response so far has been in favor of fight, I don't see that changing when things escalate. Plus, any shell fired by the tank needs to land somewhere...If they're in a city, it will surely have to blow up a building to prove a point that could very well turn this riot into a bloodbath.

Yeah really, I wouldn't be standing around waiting to see if the guy firing that gun is having a bad day or not.

You wouldn't be scaring rioters alone, you'd be scaring everybody, citizens alike. They'd also end up running the risk of ending up like Libya, that and the British military has a bad track record of dealing with riots.

They were supposed to be organising a riot down by where I live, but as far as I know nothing has happened.

That would probably be because you don't "organize" a riot. A riot is by its very definition the opposite of organization.

There's not much else they can do, if it stays like it is now the problem escalates, if they step up force it can go either way.

Instead of the cops sitting back and watching people's homes getting burned and people getting killed by these [censored]s, why not go on a counter-assault? Send in like 500 cops and just clear the rioters out, you don't have to be "brutal", just clean the place out of the rioters.

Because the same individuals that scream the police aren't doing enough are the exact same people that scream that little timmeh may get hurt. They wanted the polices hands tied, they got it.

Too bad they can't send this lot for a two week holiday at a refugee camp in Kenya filled with hundreds of thousands of staving Somalis dispossessed by war, drought and famine.

Oh, that's just cruel to the Kenyan people, they never did anything to us, we couldn't inflict these scum on them.

Then again, there are probably more rioters than bulllets at the moment, and pulling a gun could end up being suicide for police

The thing that really svcks about all this is that 75% of these people will get away scott-free, because the police can't deal with such a large scale riot. They need to bring in the army to make sure these people get imprisoned.

Even the ones who are "only" looting should receive the penalty for murder, because the only reason these rioters feel big enough to shoot someone is when they have a gang of thugs backing them up.

I believe somebody was reported to have been found shot dead in a vehicle.
