Nord hate of magic is definately not recent to winterhold. Oblivion nords didnt care for magic either.

Just because they have devolved into brutes does not mean it was always so. Just look at the Dragon Priests and Draugr Wights, they were Nords

There will always be people who don't care for magic, it's not just nords. And there are plenty of Nord mages in Oblivion.

Whatever you have to say. I say that whatever type of combat keeps you alive is the one you should use. If you aren't good at melee then use magic or bows. If you aren't good at using a bow then use melee or magic. There is no "honest" form of combat because no matter how you look at it you're still taking another life, and there is no worse thing to do, even if you had to to stay alive.

This whole discussion got way off topic. I was just saying there werent any mages in Sovngard as the game shows it, which has nothing to do with OP saying Skyrim svcks.

This whole discussion got way off topic. I was just saying there werent any mages in Sovngard as the game shows it, which has nothing to do with OP saying Skyrim svcks.

But there ARE mages in Sovngarde, they wear ArchMages robes

Agreed. Single minded people just anger me sometimes.

But yeah, maybe the OP just svcks at Skyrim becasue I play Master with a pure warrior.

Good point about draugr and the priests, but melee combat doesn't make you a brute. Relying on strength only and not skill or intelligence does.

I play on expert and I never upgrade weapons or armour. Next to that I don't use enchantments that give you a larger damage output.
Skyrim is great because of all the different stories that unfold, but the combat is also an essential thing and in my opinion it's done pretty good.

Relying on Melee doesnt make you a brute but assuming that Mages are cowards and Melee is the ONLY was does make you a brute

I've never seen them. Maybe its because I never completed the main quest as a mage, only a warrior or rogue. Could be they're only there if you complete mages quest?

That's true. And pure strength won't save you from a giant fire ball of murder. Pure warriors have to put a lot of tactics into surviving fights with magic, especially on the higher difficulties.

I saw them on all my MQ finishers. Orc warrior, pure mages, battlemage, assassin, etc

i do like the game. i just find the melee combat repetitive for a game that really should have it as a strength. you can understand where i'm coming from, can't you?

well, maybe if you didnt come on so hostile about your opinions people would agree with you? :confused:

and can someone please call a moderator or something to lock this? it just seems more like an argument than a discussion.

I agree with you on that one. I'm just saying if you are up close in person and all you have is a sword you just don't go killing spree, unless you are a madman.

I never called myself a true nord, altthough I do believe that never giving up no matter what is an aspect of a "true" nord, unlike the legion. Maybe not the soldiers themselves but their leaders.

Being a true nord means lots of things. Fighting honorably, never giving up, never forsaking your beliefs. Not just fighting with a sword.

But if you're talking about Mede then I agree with you, he pretty much screwed Tamriel over, but soldiers like Tullius are working their hardest to fix the situation.
