Skyrim and how it svcks

could be because illusion and blocking with shields is extremely strong.

you can go through the whole game just using swordn'n'board

Yes ofcourse, but you don't even need to use the shield 90% of the time. Move in close, make them start to swing, move out of their weapon range - let them miss and loose balance, move in and whack them a few times, repeat.

Point is, even when playing a build that compared to going heavy armor, all three crafting tree's for insane gear is gimped, the game is still easy. The game is not hard, at any point.

I intend on making a full on healer and only heal a follower through the hole game, some parts you can't have your follower with you - but there you have other people that fight along your side instead.

On a side note, at least its harder then Kingdoms of Amalur - I swear you have godmode on by default in that game.

I like the top video on this page: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/inxile/wasteland-2 - It's somewhat silly, but it has alot of truth to it :)

At least someone was. My character started out with all but 6 skills at 5 x.x. And half of those 6, I don't even use. Had to train up my one-handed on rats and wolves.
I feel sorry for your mother though. A sword in your womb for 9 months sounds painful. At least Tamriel time is fast.

On a roleplay perspective, my character will make major attempts not to kill a human. Personal favorites are obliterating their stamina, and paralysis.

Don't worry, the sword n' shield starts off as ingots in the womb.

Can you tell me the names of some RPGs in which pacifism is a viable opton for a character to play and finish the game?

Atleast Deus Ex: Human Revolution. There's an achievement for not killing anyone (though you still need to knock some people out, so not sure if that fits the "pacifist" term ). I believe it was also viable in the original, though i've never played that much. I think i've heard of others, some RPG where XP was awarded not only for killing enemies but for avoiding them aswell, but i don't remember what that's name was

Anyway, when it comes to games, i'm worst mass murdered around  In real life i don't kill even bugs ^_^

if you think the games not hard, then play with no armor, master difficulty, and make it a Dead Is Dead playthrough. problem=solved

I really just dont like that so many nords in Skyrim are so down on magic and magic users, they really need to remember their own history and stop thinking sword or axe is the way of a 'true nord'.

And a pure mage is a viable approach Big Punisher, I would suggest Destruction for offense, Alteration and Restoration for defense, and Conjuration for allies in battle.

They do remember their history. Thats why they dont use magic. Even since Ysgramor in the first era, Nords fought with weapons, not magic.

Have you even been too Sovengard? The dude guarding the bridge will tell you that the Right of Cleverness is the oldest Nordic Tradition (Magic)

Yes he does, and IIRC says it's regreattable the modern nords have forgotten it.

I play on Master with a melee character and it gives me just the right amount of challenge. Any lowly character is still simple, but the higher level magic users and dragons can kill me without a second thought. This means I have to use the ward from Spellbreaker as best as I can and have to make use of sheild bashes and charges to make sure the users of elemental attacks don't absolutely destroy me. I'm a pure warrior and I don't utilize any other type of combat or even tactical spells. I can die very easily if I'm not prepared, but that's what makes it fun for me. If you don't like a challenge, then play on the lower difficulties. If you don't like super easy fights either then your out of luck, becasue in my opinion, middle ground difficulty is the most boring of all of them. The only time I ever use them is if it's my first time playing the game, then every other time I always play on a higher difficulty, becasue I like challenge from my games.

Skyrim is the best TES game I've played (I have played 4 and 3) but that doesn't stop it svcking.

Interesting, so you played 3 & 4 which you obviously had to think they svck too if you think Skyrim is best and it still svcks... then why didn't you stop after 3 or even 4? Clearly the game isn't for you.

I always play dead-is-dead. I have no problems whatsoever with difficulty.

Think of it this way. By the time you're high level, you should be ridiculously overpowered. The only thing that should give you a problem are powerful dragons, draugr deathlords, etc.

The main tactic you want to use is to completely forget about sneaking and just run right up to any spell casters or high level draugr and keep bashing them to interrupt their spells and shouts.
This is the best way of dealing with ANY ranged enemy. It also works with melee enemies too, I swear to God the Quick Reflexes perk in Block might be the most useful Melee perk in the game.

Funny, I play with spellsword... and the only things that even come close to killing me are Ancient dragons of If I decide to give enemies a chance by turning into a werewolf.
Spell/sword is a really good build for playing on the harder difficulties as you can still use magic, but not get owned by the harder enemies by wearing just robes if you are a sole mage.

Nords don't need any destruction magic to fight, if there is good blocking skill and the eyes to see when to put them down.

I'm gonna have to see a picture of those nord "mages" to believe that. I didn't notice any. Like none. Not even 1. And I looked around.

Thanks. Appreciate your response.

Every RPG type game I've played has involved killing some sort of enemy.

But, haven't played many in the last ten or fifteen years, so I'm way out of date ... which is why I asked my question.

Will maybe give Deus Ex a shot, so to speak.

Any1 else notice any mage nords in Sovngard wearing archmage robes? That sounds really hard to miss. The closest thing to that I've noticed was guys in Greybeard robes. Thats about it.

I'v been playing the game for 43 hours according to steam and I think Skyrim is the best TES game I've played (I have played 4 and 3) but that doesn't stop it svcking.

My main gripe is in combat and how unbalanced it is. There is no middle ground for damage output. With expert and master most enemies will just own you (you die to 2-3 hits) which leads to only one or two viable tactics (ie sneaking with magic or magic with sneaking). If you play on lower than expert you pretty much own everybody with any build.

The Melee combat is also bad (not as bad as oblivion). Playing a melee character in skyrim is like shooting yourself in the knee (unless you use knife, doesn't matter which knife they are all op). Goodluck trying kill a mountain lion on expert with a melee charater (because if it doesn't get cletched you are dead). Seriously Dark Messiah was released in 2006 just copy paste it and make it less brutal (well on higher difficulties it could be brutal)

you can also try the demo:
http://www.ubi.com/FI/Downloads/Info.aspx?dlId=1732

Problem number x is the "I win" -health system. Ain't it nice when you use inventory time pauses. Bethesda could have used any other health system. For example is witcher 1 you could use hp potion during combat but all potions would toxicate you and if you were too toxicated you would die (I believe it was 3 potions and 4th would kill you)

Also removal of various spell effect saddens me. Silence would be really handy.

ps. Knives use no stamina and can have 30x sneak attack bonus. Also there is no dodge (oblivion had dodge) and some enemies can't be out run or dodged like mountain lion.

Best thing to do is either accept it, or play a different game. Trying to make Skyrim more like other games will only alienate the mass of players who enjoy it how it is.

Well, for one, there is Onmund at the College, hell, aren't there a few more Nords there?

I'm not against magic. I know it's very useful, hell even most guards say it is, my mage gets told there needs to be more healers like her in Skyrim. But I do dislike the College, because I do believe they somehow, even if accidentally, destroyed Winterhold. It's just too much of a coincidence.

I mean in Sovngard. I've played as a mage a couple of times. It's kewl, but I just prefer a good sword n' shield in my hand. Even when I am a mage, warrior, rogue or any combination of the three, I'm always a nord though. Thats just how I role. lol.
