I would 'import' the Blizzard level of polish and patching.

The thing WoW has over skyrim is that the dungeon bosses have each a unique way to fight them. Kind of like Zelda. You need to successfully dodge their attacks and exploit their gimmicks to defeat them. Elder Scrolls games could use more of that, because you can only fight Draugr Deathlords and Elder Dragons so many times before things get stale.

Wait...... So us moving out of the fire counts as dodging attacks?

I'd much rather have unique boss fights like Demon/Dark Souls, where you actually have to dodge stuff.

The only thing I'd take from WoW and put into Skyrim is PvP, not literal PvP with real players just arenas again..

I miss the arena.

Since it's Skyrim, lets not call it arenas though. Call it Pit Fights. There's already a hint of little gambling rings that do it in Skyrim, with dogs. Surely there must be some bloodsport going on with humans, that we don't know about.

I prefer Shadowbane. Hardly anyone remembers that game though. I haven't enjoyed an MMO since.

Still have a bunch of screenshots from my short but nice Shadowbane time. Well nowadays it looks ugly, but I loved my badass minotaur ! Now it'sonly some shots in my gaming tourist directory (screenshots of all games I've tried, mmo and all)

On topic, having player WoW up to level 60 before the first addon came (then I left, cursing this game forever), I think the interface point is a good one. Wow's interface is a masterpiece both in ergonomics and customizing. I am not saying there isn't better out there, but I remember enjoying going through it.

And at last, I like how monsters aren't levelled (I know, this was easy), although I wouldn't like so clearly separated level zones like in a mmos. Monsters of various levels should be mixed up a bit, forcing you to be careful when in the wild.

Only thing I would like is some sort of class and professions, some limitations are not bad as many think. And due to such you get more out of the game because you cannot do anything and everything with one character.

I do too still but since WB got to em..

Skyrim is more limited in terms of what you can do with your character than Morrowind or Oblivion.

I don't understand why people judge Skyrim's character development solely on the fact that there is no class label on your character sheet. You are forced to specialize in Skyrim more than Morrowind or Oblivion ever did.

The only thing I want to see in Skyrim, from WoW, is that you actually skin animals, similar to how you would use an ore vien, in Skyrim. I just think thats much better, plus anything to get away from the abstract, time-freezing, immersion breaking loot menu whenever possible.

And actually...

In Skyrim, say for example you are dual wielding swords. You have an attack if you press both mouse buttons (a "chain attack"?), but there's no real flair, and it's just one move. So this is boring me quite a bit with my level 32 dual wield warrior.

In Everquest, there were tons of specials, and they looked really awesome when you use them. Especially the Shadowknight and Bard. The Shadowknight special attacks had this black cloud streak trailing the sword.

I know the control scheme in Skyrim doesn't really allow for too much variety, currently. But maybe there could be alternative "chain attacks" to learn and choose from, for melee characters (that could be equiped like spells or shouts). That would give a warrior somethings to put in his shortcuts.

That would rule, honestly.

No thanks, that's exactly what I don't want in TES.

Why does anyone need to tell you what class to be? Just play it and call it what you will.

This.

Oddly enough, I started playing WoW while I was waiting for Oblivion

They are very different games but share one excellent feature, which is the open world to explore. Elder Scrolls does it better, in my opinion, but so many rpg's treat worlds as a set of connected levels rather than an organic whole (not saying they can't be good games, too). Open worlds really give you a sense of both place and space (and time). Because of that, to date, Tamriel and Azeroth are the only virtual worlds I feel I have "lived" in. Not many other games entice you to just sit and watch a sunset.

For me, my favorite "open worlds"

-Elder Scrolls - III thru V (Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim)
-Star Wars Galaxies - pre-CU / NGE (stopped playing it long ago but still sad to see it shut down)
-EverQuest - For it's time, I thought the game and world were great. First game of it's type that I ever experienced, and I must say without it, I probably wouldn't be the TES fan I am today.
-Fallout 3

I bit OT but im rather looking forward Guild Wars 2. They finally made an MMO that is real time combat and not that silly button mashing like WoW and unfortunately SWTOR have. I was really looking forward to SWTOR until i saw the awful combat. I loved the Jedi Knight and Battlefront games and the old Tie Fighter games and SWTOR has absolutely nothing like that at all. The space fight parts are on rails and you can't fly wherever you want which really really annoys me. The ground combat is sticky and looks like typical unresponsive MMO stuff. I played WoW for a few months but quickly got bored of the grind and i cannot stand the art style. My thief character was running around in a farmer's hat and huge neon colored shoulder pads.

This.
It is a bit harder to pick a class and play with it when it is possible to accidentally level up with unrelated skills.

Still possible, just harder (IMO)

I noticed recently on the nexus that there was this mod that added a cool down to your power attack. Cool downs are an MMO invention and dont belong in an action RPG. besides there is already a cooldown. its called stamina.

The [censored] attributes! Intelligence, strength, agility, etc...
It's a shame that WOW has more attributes than Skyrim.

But oddly despite all those traditional RPG mechanics that some love much less potential for actual roleplaying.

On a RP server there is more roleplaying potential than in any single player game. You just need to meet the right people.

Which is why LotRO is currently a better alternative. RP Servers actually RP most of the time.

More weapons, thrown weapons. Better quest log, much better interface. I also agrre on hunters and their pets, it's so fun in Warcraft to play one. Another thing that wouldn't hurt is fishing.

And yes inventory slots, WOW has top, boots, gloves, amulet and helmet like Skyrim in addition it has greaves (or pants, skirt), bracers in addition to gloves, shows with short gloves, cloak, TWO rings, TWO trinkets who are both constant effect and cast on use, separate ranged slot or an trinket for they who don't use ranged, More than twice as many slots as Skyrim and almost on Morrowind level.

Just to clarify, are you saying that stamina doesn't belong in TES because it's a cooldown? I hope you are right, I do find that having three attributes is far too spreadsheety.

Anyway, if people could get over their knee-jerk WoW hatred, the idea of being able to tame animals sounds pretty cool to me. This was also a major skill in Ultima Online and the Ultima series was perhaps TES's closest relative at one point. Until TES added WoW-style perk trees :whistling:

I've found a dungeon in Skyrim - can't remember the name - but it actually has a large cage in a room with seats (like a sports stadium) arranged around the cage for viewers. There's one desk where there's a lot of gold, both in individual coins and little bags - laying around - obviously for taking bets. From the other cages in the dungeon, it looks like men fighting wolves.

Seems like WoW is the herpes of the gaming community. It will never go away, no matter what you do.

If I wanted WoW's content, I'd buy WoW and sub up. Otherwise, no thank you.

Ex-Brandywine inhabitant myself
I would compare it more to the online crack of the gaming community. WoW destroys lives. And WoW is way too cartoony also. As others have already said.

Aren't you one that criticizes Skyrim for being an "action" game, and not an RPG?
Yeah he is, and he is also the one that wants the game to be so difficult that anyone who attempts to play it will have an aneurism. He wants everyone to be forced to play how he wants, and any other way is wrong.

I'd have to chime in on the interface - not so much of what appears on the screen, having a bare screen just filled with the beautiful game is ideal; but the simple fact of having keybinds that can be edited more freely and not limited in number. I find it strange having so many abilities, spells etc and having to switch them out or pause the game to use them. I realise the game is pc and console, but limiting the pc users because (I suspect) the consoles are limited is a bit of a pain.

I actually love WoW because you CAN find those different types: The RP'ers, the normies, the raiders, the pvpers, etc.

But, I can think of nothing really important that I'd want Skyrim to adopt from WoW.

I've played WOW since the before TBC and these are really two separate games. If you had to pick one or two thing things from WOW to bring to these games one would be an identifier for quest givers and trainers, the other would be the introduction of the Rogue character. A Rogue is not a thief or assassin but a combination of the two plus spy.
