Forbes? Are they a jury of our Peers? Last time I checked, I don't have a million bucks in the bank. Those people don't want deep long epic games as they don't have time between getting their Ferrari serviced and selecting the proper caviar for the dinner party.
Why do they need to be a jury of our peers? The fact that they aren't some fat sofa lounging geeks lets them look at the game from a more critical perspective.
I don't think anyone I know complains about summer blockbusters not winning Academy Awards. We already have a metric to determine the success of a game based on a "jury of our peers", and that would be the number of units sold. Summer blockbusters may bring in more money, but those aren't the type of movies that you come back to in years or decades. The critically acclaimed movies are. Just as in games, the decision of game of the year should go to the game that will be looked upon favorably and played decades into the future, not simply the game that has the most flashy graphics and exploding cars... I mean dragons.
