Skyrim is overall the best TES game.

Like Skyrim's "balance" is any better? Combat was fine in Morrowind, as well. Not to mention Morrowind was about much more than just combat.

no no I still remember it VERY clearly MW combat system was horrible and we do spend 90% of the time killing/stealing stuff in a TES games and yes MW had a deeper more mystirous story and way more dialog (TEXT) but other than that it pretty much has nothing over skyrim

also the alien setting of MW helped the game look more unique

Am I the only one that "Disliked" Morrowind? Sure it was okay...
Anyway I love skyrim the best.

I remember in MW I was happly walking in the wild and then i saw a speed potion with me and I said:

:D happy me I can speed up my journy *drink-y*

lalalalallala suddenly I hear a sound, but I scoff it as nothing

then i hear it again I look behind and I see a train of cliff racers descending like bats from hell right behind me 5 or 6 of them (they sure looked like 30 then) and I was like

for that MW loses points and skyrim wins some XD

No, it was fine. I understand representation and what it took to hit enemies.

Anyway, it wasn't the setting that made Morrowind so excellent, it was the depth and complexity and all of the features. The setting and story were good, but that isn't what made Morrowind great.

The day when Bethesda finds a way to incorporate all the RPG elements from Morrowind and combines them with the eye-poping graphics of Skyrim will be the day that they've truly made an epic game... in my God's honest opinion.
I an awaiting this game as well. I just hope they release it without as many bugs as this one. Morrowind was the best game for choice, variety, and roleplaying.

no it was not fine

it was fine then, now it will not do AT ALL

overall skyrim still wins on a lot of levels, but like I said MW did have more complex quests and more unique land scapes

Well i play Dnd...
Anyway another reason why I dislike morrowind is because it so hyped up..Before skyrim was realesed threads kept popping up with titles like "Skyrim svcks", "Skyrim is not A tes game", "Why bethesda", And when I viewed them they always compared skyrim to morrowind, Saying that it svcked cause it didint look morrowind... It made me want to vomit.

I will agree that Skyrim is the best TES game if you compare them, however the devs promised a lot more than they actually delivered with this game.

It was fine. Morrowind had way more representation, and features/mechanics, than Skyrim.

I agree graphics don't necessarily make the game, but, IMO, I think Daggerfall was the best of the lot. I also agree taht Skyrim seems to beat out F:NV for bugginess
it plays good on the xbox for me, but skyrim has like 1000 times more content that new vegas, hundreds of dungeons, forts, caves etc, 5 major detailed cities and lots of other towns not to mention the 400 plus detailed quests and just tons of everything...you really can't compare the 2 games, its like comparing a rolls royce with a toyota and skyrim is the rolls royce. skyrim has been voted the 2nd best rpg of all time. lets just relish in the majesitc brilliance of the game. its not very often a game of this magnitude comes around.

Funny, I generally believe the exact opposite. I almost always enjoy sequels more than originals in video games, mainly due to the fact that as time goes on more technology is available to developers, making a bigger and better game.

In fact, I can't think of very many games (aside from maybe Duke Nukem) where I can say the original / predecessor was better.

This is because you overestimate the technological aspect of a game. Though that 's just the smallest aspect of a possible success. BTW I believe in nothing, I just know something. Is that a problem? Nah, eh? *g*

For me Skyrim is not. Bethesda removed too much that was in the previous games that made them fun.

skyrim has been voted the 2nd best rpg of all time.
Yes, and it wasn't biased at all.

I'm willing to bet a major contributing factor was that Skyrim looks good -- again, not something that makes an RPG great. If Skyrim boasted the same graphics as Morrowind or Daggerfall, it wouldn't even be in the top 200.

When the next TES game is released, will most of you still hold Skyrim in such a high regard? Or will it become the next Oblivion? Just because the number following "TES" in the title is higher doesn't mean the game is actually better, fyi.

Technically and graphically, Skyrim is far above the other two. A mid-high-end rig like mine can support up to 30 vs 30 NPC wars without drop in FPS. That is something no other in the series have been able to do. The engine is far more powerful and optimized that any other in the series.

Story and game experience is a matter of personal preference which no amount of debate will ever convince anyone to change their minds, so that is a fultile exercise.

The closest you can ever come to "winning" this debate is to cite reliable statistics of games sales for each game and/or their Metacritic ratings.

I think it has a lot of aspects that were started, but weren't given enough developing time. weapon/armor variety, quests, the quantity of spells, and the perk trees all come to mind

I wouldn't say sales are a reliable source. Look at how many copies MW3 sold, and that game is basically just a rehash of a rehash.

Same goes for Metacritic. It's a popularity score more than anything, and popularity alone never a good judge of quality. The scores on that site often range from high to low depending on the amount of people giving reviews anyway, and the critics are obviously biased in their reviews. Who in their right mind would say anything bad about such a popular game like Skyrim? It'd turn out a lot like Galileo preaching heliocentrism to the Catholic Church -- not good for the career, or health.

You are correct. That is why I use the words I used. There is no way to winning the debate or conclusively determine a winner. The closest you can ever come to a mathematical proving are the two ways I mentioned, and they are deeply flawed in some ways.

Edit: The other two possible ways are a successful Human Instrumentality Project and/or Human extinction program where the last human is asked to choose the best TES game. Both options are considered non-cost-effective with current technology.
