Skyrim : I'll see you in Feburary.

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 12:52 pm

I've decided after probably 60 hours of gameplay and replaying Riverwood/Whiterun/Riften storylines about 10 times with 10 different characters that I am going to be waiting until Feburary to start playing the game in earnest.

A month after the CK comes out and hopefully more mods than I need to create the game I had hoped it would be.. More balanced and I can tailor it to how I like to play. Then I can experience the story while feeling like the game is a challenge rather than me trying my absolute best to gimp myself for fear of me one shotting everything.

Until then, C'est la vie Skyrim.

PS - Love the game, just not without mods.

If you don't like the game without mods then you don't like the game. Sort of a silly thing you wrote there.

Not really. The true potential of this game comes out with the modders, not out of the box.

Yup, can't wait for lingerie mods, knee-high boot mods, pony-tail mods, pig-tail mods, jiggly briast mods, high heel mods ...

Honestly, Skyrim isn't any different than previous Elder Scrolls games when it comes to difficulty. In previous games, there were tons of features you could abuse to make yourself invincible if you wanted to.

Hell, in Oblivion you could run backwards while casting spells and shooting arrows and almost nothing could ever catch you if your speed was high enough. Magic was super easy too, once you unlocked the arcane university you became a God.

In Morrowind you could max almost all your skills near the starting area, and once you start enchanting stuff you became a God very quickly. Really, Morrowind was one of the easiest games to break. Once you leveled to about 45 or 50 there was literally nothing in the game that could hurt you.

Don't talk about mods in this forum because you'll see many console folks in here and already you're getting hostile replies.

I tend to agree, I'm playing it on Master with stock Imperial Armor and Sword with no shield just to try and get a challenge out of this at my level. I used to mod previous TES games extensively myself and it was a hoot, but without a construction kit to fall back on it feels like less than half a game for me.

It's always been there for me if I encountered something I wanted to change, it feels rather odd and like I'm spoiling my fun later if I play it till completion right now.

That's exactly the way I feel, thats why I've done maybe 15% of the game and can't force myself to go on past that. I want my first playthrough to be as epic an experience as possible. That just isn't feasible without the CK and mods to make the game more difficult and more balanced.

I don't want to avoid using blacksmith. I don't want to avoid using enchanting. I don't want to get 50000 gold by going through 2 dungeons. I want my assassin to actually have to TRY to sneak rather than jumping up and down on their heads when them going "deeeeeeerp????? who dere!"

These things are not possible until the game is modded.

don’t understand this reliance on mods,
never used them for oblivion, might try a couple with skyrim, but not really, I am happy with this game, could it be better, sure, but I don’t understand this whole mods will make this game perfect mentally (ps. I am playing on the PC)

you realize all of those types of mods don't need the construction kit right?

...go on....

Extra muscle man pack, different hair styles, extra tattoos, new eye colours, wear clothes under armor pack, more selection of hoods, multiplayer/co-op mode, spell crafting (without using the LEATHER crafting - talk about a lame mod), giant frogs, more animals, new creatures (with full animation and not retextured creature packs), new aquatic creatures (not reskinned fish either), machine guns, familiar packs for mages, populated cities (each with their own conversation and not just one liners - lame if done this way like the Oblivion mod), seasons, roaming Werewolves (during double or single full moon) ...

Because people have different ways of seeing the world. Bethesda has their own "balance" game :shakehead:

Other people have better ideas.

knee-high boot mods

You'll still end up a guard if you take an arrow in your knee, regardless of their protection.

Exactly and you can pick and choose the mods that tailor to your vision of the game. Mods are essential to getting the best play experience out of this game, tailored to how you like to play.

I can't wait for the hundreds of inevitable asia love doll slave mods among the rest of the bile the nexus will churn out for this game.

You sound like a console user. I'm a pc user and not in a million years I would download an anime like mod but I'm glad there are all kinds of mods out there for everybody's taste.

I was very curious about whether you were playing skyrim from December to February. I'm really glad you made this post an cleared that up for me. I am a journalist and I plan to run this story in tomorrow's paper. Can you also let me know which game you will play in the meantime? And why it's better than skyrim? I appreciate it.

Nope, pure PC. Thankfully, none of the suggestions I made had anime involved - could you imagine if it did? Yuck!
