Smelly Passenger Kicked off Flight

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 3:53 pm

I wouldn't care that much. It would be be a little off-putting but i try not to judge people by my own standards. There are plenty of things in life that annoy me, doesn't mean they should be banned or thrown out of places. Meant to be a [censored] free country FFS.

Might I just ask this:

Where does it stop?

This kicking people out of busses, airplanes, trains etc, that we don't like? - the people - that is - not the busses etc.

I agree 100%.

There is always some really stink ass people that ride the bus..and I know I can't tolerate that. No way in hell would I like it on a plane flight. They gotta go..

Seriously, if you don't like taking baths, there's freaking alternatives to smelling good >.<. Or take better care of your health and stop smelling like death is looming.

It would depend on the length of the flight and if it is a medical condition. If someone is kicked off, at least give that person a refund or an alternative flight to the destination.

Another passenger described the smell as "brutal."

no.
i've lost most of my sense of smell anyway, so it wouldn't bother me at all. the majority of people nowadays are whiny babies. if something doesn't smell like their favorite fragrance, or some "clean" chemical, they say it stinks. get real. people sweat, people smoke, most people don't shower three times a day, or use tons of deodorant and perfume. it's public transportation.. deal with it. long flights or rides are one thing.. people oughta at least freshen up at the sink before a big trip.. but on a bus ride to school or work... gimme a break! ride a bike, or get your own vehicle if you don't like how other people act or smell. it's the frickin' bus! that's just how it is!

It can be as annoying as some dude shouting into your ear if the guy sits next to you. Not pleasant either way.

Well that's all fine and dandy, but here's the deal:

1. Most people aren't you. Therefore they still can smell pretty well.

2. If the smell was so bad, the passenger had to be removed, chances are it was DAMN bad.

3. Some smells are pretty [censored] horrible, so horrible that people can get sick

4. This. Was. A. Plane! Now if you haven't been on a plane before. Its basically a vacuum, with a ton of people on it. Air is stagnant. And if you have a bad smell in stagnant air, it just fills up the stagnant vacuum and reeks to high heaven for however many godawful hours you're stuck with the smelly person.

Bus rides and whatnot are on thing, but a plane-ride is a different ballpark altogether. I'm not some nancy who complains about a little odor, but if its bad enough the person really needs to gets some soap and wash the hell up. Its not that hard.

I think there's a democratic difference here between "not like" and "infringement of freedoms". There's a point when something pungent enough to be called a stench will infact feel like it's invading every feeling facet of your personal space...and such an assault should be met with action.

The guy is an American flying back from Canada. And customer satisfaction is probably the main reason to throw him out: 49 unhappy people vs. 1 happy person. Easy democracy, I think :)

At the restaurant I used to work at we would take names with the orders, and every few days this man would come in smelling so bad that I would know he was there without even looking out into the eating area. Oddly enough, he always gave his name as Showers <_< I think he was just messing with us.

But I think it's fair as long as they booked him another flight or gave him his money back.

That would be hilarious :) Well, for anyone waiting at the destination airport, behind a thick layer of glass and with knowledge of the situation anyway.

First it starts with the cabin crew.. them it slowly spreads among the passengers.. tragically, the pilots ate the same and opened the security door hoping for some freash air from the cabin.. too late :ahhh:

Sorry, i missed these last night.

With Freedom comes responsibility. Responsibility to not leave people in your wake projectile vomiting from your BO.

Freedom to me means the right to do whatever you want with your own body without being kicked around because of it.

Me, i find things like annoying screaming kids more off-putting than some BO, but i don't ask for them to get thrown off, and i would likely be ignored if i did. Rights of the individual over rights of society, every time - thats freedom.

Wherever people stop reeking of vomit, sweat, and feces, that's where.

That's not the point. If we can start throwing people around because we don't like little things about them then its taking away our freedom IMO.

You may not like the smell, tough. Its freedom, and it has a price. As long as people aren't abusing their freedom by harming other people deliberately, then we can't start nit-picking problems IMO.

Anyway, thats just my opinion. Im sure most of you disagree however. :P

I think more than a few people consider "smelling like [censored] on an airplane" to be an abuse of freedom.

There is no freedom to smell like crap. If you start feeling sick because of someones BO, then where are your rights?

The rights of the people on the plane > one man's.
