Snow At Last, Snow At Last

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 4:43 am

We've had snow for a few days for the last 2 winters, but the 11th is way too early for snow. So no snow on Skyrim day.

Buffalo, New York. No snow yet! ..Thankfully. We get just about the worst snowfall out of the entire eastern United States.

Don't really care for snow before Nov 1st...dried leaves are my preferred ground cover till then. I'm from WI tho, so I remember getting an inch or so in the second week of October a few years back, but this year is much more mild. It was in the 80's about 3 weeks ago.

The 80's were 3 weeks ago!?!?  I must be.. from like AD 130 or something ! :woot:

Ohio's weather is all over the place as usual, but we don't really get snow until late fall.

Yep, we get snow at christmas if we're lucky. It's more likely in January/ February than November/December.

The only thing I don't like about snow is having to travel anywhere whilst it's around. We get snow most years and yet the country falls apart when it arrives and people freak out about having to have a [censored]load of grit on the road to drive anywhere.

I believe in the course of my life I've seen snow here in every month other than August at some point or another.

Right now, though, we've been geared for snow for the past month - when it hits, we'll be ready for it. Alberta's good that way - and we tend to avoid the huge dumps that hit the east coast, in favor of colder, more prolonged winters. Winter is my favorite season, though at 5 to 6 months on average, the snow and cold do tend to overstay their welcome. And actually, it's not even those factors that I dislike the most... It's the DARK. When the sun rises after I get to work and sets before I get off work (And I work a regular, 8-hour day), that's depressing.

I liked snow a lot more until we had a winter with TONS of the stuff in early 2010, and then the really horrible confluence of snowy circumstances that lead to myself (and many others here) having a 5 - 13 hour commute home this past winter.

Lesson learned -- use fast travel.

It's been cold enough here to get snow and already had some sleet, but not actual snowing as of yet.

Starting to get a bit frosty at night here in Scotland, but thats about it.

Though about 3-4 weeks ago a guy i work with said it was snowing where hes from which was high up, but not really that high.
Got quite a bit for the last 2-3 years. Would melt in the day then just a total freeze. Bad combo. Just ice everywhere

Still got bad memories of last year, Trying to get up a steep slippy, icy driveway. Never succeeded, ended back at the bottom with a very sore face and several amused spectators
One person walking past "oh,its slippy here isnt it" :verymad:

Amazing how when your in a rage + embarrassed you can just run right up it though

I woke up to about 6 to 8 inches of nice fluffy but wet snow this morning. It's beautiful out there.

I work on one of uppermost floors in my building here in downtown Denver, I've been watching it snow out my window all morning long. I've decided not to head over to the 16th street mall for lunch. Why can't we get snow with out the freezing temperatures?

Wow! I just saw a plow truck fishtail its way across the top of a parking garage. Good thing there are not too many cars in that one.

=.= I hate snow. I count myself lucky that it hasn't started snowing here in the capital city of Iceland yet. But the snow is coming... *shudders*.

I guess I should make a counter topic here titled "At last the snow is gone, at last!" at the start of the next summer.

:swear: :cold: :swear: :cold: :swear: :cold: :swear: :cold: :swear:

Yeah, I don't like anything about the wintery cold :yucky:

So anyone in the Denver area ought to know by now that there's been quite a bit of snowfall in recent hours, and school closures are likely. Anyone else out there receiving snow yet? I know it was mentioned in a previous thread but is anyone hopeful for snow between now and Skyrim's release?

I'm from Cheyenne. I went to Fort Collins to see Chris Broderick and had to drive 30 mph the whole way home. :banghead:

It's still snowing in Colorado, at least where I live. The snow was so heavy that a good majority of the trees on campus were laying on the sidewalk, and a lot of them snapped in half.

I know that the native Americans have a rain dance...

Is there maybe something like an anti snow dance?

Like dancing a rain dance backwards, while wearing a Hawaiian print shirt?(*)

Maybe a reed hula skirt as well?

I'm a bike rider, and need my motorcycle daily almost, so I have *no* *problem* dancing a native American raindance backwards while wearing a Hawaiian floral print shirt and a reed hula skirt..

..if that's what it takes.

I'll even dance it to Jimmy Fontaine if I have to.

Any amount of black magic, animal sacrifice and pagan worship is acceptable to avoid the crap we had last year..

(*)obviously, I'm guessing here...

Typically they will close schools because the buses have a hard time getting through all the snow, or when the snow plows can't keep up with accumulating snow.

Hasn't started snowing up here yet, but it's about to. Luckily I'll be back at school (which means several hours south) and I won't have to deal with lasting snow till mid-late November. :D

I hate snow. Saw way too much of it growing up. I remember having huge snow banks before November ~13-14 years ago and more than enough snow to bury me standing by my birthday.
