StarX, you're so sweet on me. How did you know this is exactly what I wanted?

Because I made them just the way I wanted and I have an excellent taste!

Too bad we can't let the giants in Skyrim throw big rocks, that would be really cool.

Correction: We need giant women who flirtatiously throw giant boulders. Yes, that would be really cool.

Awww, why not? :P

I realized I hadn't posted here before, but - you have awesome textures. :D I'd be using them in-game, but I haven't actually played in a long while. So instead of using, I'm using them in my imaginary game that I'll play when I finish my modding career, and/or get tired of it. <_<

Tell me something new! PISE was one of the first mods I used (and actually did what it promised) and now I haven't even downloaded ASIS yet. The game is just one big testing hall at the moment. I do plan to make a new game soon though, with AV and ASIS. Sometimes it's good to enjoy your own work in the game, as that's what it's for eventually.

Thanks, Core! Been thinking about trying a similar way as well. Do the giants even have a casting animation? Can't check right now....

Hey are these on Nexus?

I just spent 15 minutes answering those dopey TESAlliance questions, only to be told I can't download...

edit: ignore that... pressed wrong link on registration validation... probably same reason I spent 15 minutes trying to answer the "are you smart enough to use this site" question

@StarX. How did you create those great looking screenshots. I'm not talking about the layout and such but about the NPC's in it. It are models with the textures (.dds) applied to them. How did you do that. Just this day opened up the CK for the first time and somehow got to to the Actor->Animation window where you can get a preview of the NPC. Which already looks great. Have you done it with the CK or are their other gems in the Skyrim world to discover?

Nifskope, it's the standard tool for viewing Nif's (the models/meshes). Can't put a link up right now, but just Google it and you.ll find it.

@StarX. Do you perhaps have a bit more info. I think I have to feed Nifskope the .dds but how does it know where to find the mode/mesh for a certain NPC. Has it Skyrim support or do you have to feed it with certain types of files. I don't need anything fancy, just enough to get me started a bit. So many tools to choose from and so little time ;->

There are several ways to do this, but this one is more usable if you want to try out several textures that are spread over different folders:
  • Click on the model in the render window
  • In the Blocklist window, the NiTriShape is now highlighted in blue
  • Expand the NiTriShape
  • You should see BSLightingShaderProperty there
  • Expand that as well and select BSShaderTextureSet
  • With that highlighted go to the Blockdetails window
  • Expand the textures and you should see a path to a .DDS file
  • Right click on the texturepath, select texture > choose and you can browse to the texture you want to see
You can also set several default folders that will automatically detect loose dds files with the correct filepath and textures inside BSA's. Render>settings>Rendering tab
This is handy for checking out Skyrim's default textures for example.

Cool, will update the mod if this is possible!

Frost Giants have been released a bit earlier than expected:http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1366789-relz-starx-frost-giants-including-av-package/

I'm writing this request at all active AV package creators which create their own excellent textures. As you probably know I'm trying to create examples for AV, including AV package ports, examples etc. Done a bit of research of searched the web. Draugr, skeletons and to a lesser extend sabrecat, wolves, mammoth, giant how all been done. Also AV packages for them exist. What I'm sorely missing are textures for Deers and Elk (only 1 texture for each exist). I will be away for two days but after that I'm gonna make an excell sheet which shows for every NPC how many variants exist for it. Showing which one have lots of variations and which ones don't

In combination with wildlife mods like skytest SkyTEST - Realistic Animals and Predators and Real wildlife which among other things add quite a few packs/herds of Deer and Elk some more Deer and Elk variation would by great and add immersion to Skyrim.

Hence my request. If someone should be looking for an idea for a new AV package (to be created by you) I think those would be GREAT. As said before most animals in Skyrim (prey) look as if they are on this world for the first day, eg NO scars , no blood no dirt on them etc. One would guess that with all those predators out there, they would show some signs of attack.

I'm not pushing for the creation of an AV package. I'm just looking if you perhaps would be interested in doing one for Deers and Elk. Or for other NPC's which do not have much variations at this point.

Maybe later, I'm not really interrested in doing deers at the moment. I also seldom would get close enough to be able to see details like scars and such. I'll be gone for three days so I'll put up a new thread as we're nearing the post limit.
