Strange Encounters #2

I was trying a shortcut to Blackwater crossing through the Eastmarch when suddenly, something rolled down the hill. I checked to see what it was - Yes, the head of an Imperial soldier. I sneaked up the hill to find AT LEAST TWO DOZENS of Dremora, standing over a PILE of vigilants of Stendarr AND Imperial soldiers. Needless to say I didn't even try. Holy crap, Oblivion 2.0.

// Edit:
By the gods, they're lead by a hagraven and heading to Blackwater crossing. I can't do anything to prevent them slaughtering everybody, I don't even stand a chance against two Dremora at once, and they're at least twenty plus the hagraven.

May the mercy of Stendarr be upon you, because the Vigil will... uh... I guess it's safe to say they still don't have any mercy to spare. Some of their internal organs seem to have gone missing as well...

Was recently swimming into Riften (Argonian character... seemed appropriate), when, all the whilst underwater I hear: "Stop, you have committed crimes... etc" Confused, I glance around, and eventually up, to find myself looking up the skirt of a Riften guard-lady. I bob to the surface and we conduct the arrest with our heads just above the surface.

I usually would have made a run for it, but you couldn't help but be impressed with her devotion to duty.

Also, you'd think the Jarl could stump up the cash to buy the guard a proper launch. Chucking yourself in the drink in full armour has got to be a hard beat.

I wonder if that's a scripted event that kinda' shows us what may have happened to get us sent to Helgen in the beginning of the game. :o

I was picking Jazbay graqes over in the hot springs south of Windhelm, minding my own business, until the bandits over at Mistwatch decided I was too close for comfort and decided to storm my way. I panicked and sped off, running past that giant who stands solemnly over his fallen mammoth, when suddenly I heard a low rumble and the distinctive sound of earth-quaking footsteps followed by a scream. Confused, I risked a confrontation with the bandits by heading back to see what exactly was going down. Turns out the giant was displeased that his mourning had been so rudely interrupted and was beating the ever-living daylight out of the five or so bandits who'd been chasing me. No sooner did one of them return from his impromptu journey to the clouds that another one was clubbed up to share the view. The ones who weren't sent skyward or stomped to a fine paste were instead clawed to death by the sabrecat that had spotted the commotion and joined in for the lulz. Within seconds every last one of them - including the unfortunate sabrecat - were dead as doornails and the giant shambled back over to his mammoth. Giants. Are. Awesome.

Giants. Are. Awesome.

They certainly take no BS!

Was hunting Elk and Deer west of Whiterun, going pretty well, gathered alot of potential leather, anyway, I spotted a hawk's shadow go by, so I looked up and fired an arrow, (fletching mod requires hawk feathers ^^) well, the arrow missed and about 10 seconds later it came up saying "Critical Hit on Giant" or something, I was like, oh damn. About 10 seconds after that I first spot the angered dude charging at me, about 3 seconds after that I was admiring the view.

I saw a ghost sabrecat. I can't find anyone who has seen one before.

The Spirit Sabre Cat is associated with a Specific Quest.

I recently entered Solitude on a shopping/trading expedition and ventured up to the blacksmith. Imagine my surprise when I saw Elven Boots of Strength on the list. Normally, this would not be shocking... except, this time, the boots looked an awful lot like Elven Gilded Armor and carried an armor rating of the same.

I didn't buy those boots because I thought they would just look ridiculous on my feet.

A Letter From A Friend:

Lars,

You caused a bit of a stir in GREYWATER
GORGE when you demonstrated the power
of your Thu'um. Not everyone is
anxious for the return of the
Dragonborn.

I for one desire to see you grow and
develop your talents. Skyrim needs a
true hero these days.

You should turn your attention to
GREYWATER GORGE. I understand it holds
a mysterious source of power that can
only be unlocked by the Dragonborn.

Sincerely,

A Friend

This is an important lead. We now know that the "Friend" is most likely a Skooma addict. You know what to do next, Agents.

Heh.

IIRC I shouted once, early game, in the final chamber of a deep, dark, long abandoned dungeon that had just been cleared. By me.

Some time after I emerged, tired, dirty, eyes blinking against the now unfamiliar sunlight, I got one of those letters. About the shout I had just done. In that deep, dark, long abandoned dungeon. The one only inhabited by skeevers, giant spiders, and walking dead guys. Who were now really and truly dead, instead of only mostly so.

And I had to wonder if my "friend" was just some poor misunderstood draugr that I'd overlooked... and who also had Tamriel's version of a FedEx account.

I saw a tree in the woods that had been cut down by a beaver. I have never seen a beaver in the game. So therefore, there is a ghost beaver haunting the forests of Skyrim.

I don't know if I've seen any trees felled by beavers, but I do see a number snapped off as from storm damage. Never see the pheasants while alive, they're always hanging around dead.

Saw an NPC carrying a bucket for the first time today, at the Left-Hand Mine southeast of Markarth.

Was sneaking in Duskglow Crevice and didn't realize I was right next to a pair of Chauruses, because they looked like this: http://nn.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fil:Slater_rolled_up_for_wiki.jpg

Never seen them in an inactive or unaggressive state before.

Yeah, I came across two that were like that in Duskglow. I thought they were dead, but I didn't get the option to "search" them so I attacked. :o Why is that the only place in the game where they're sleeping?

Oh, I didn't know this. I just assumed that's how they chilled out when there weren't any adventures around. Never snuck up on them before. :P

Why is it I find Chauruses so cute viewed from the side, but they look like Hellspawn from the front? The curled into a ball thing was kinda tipping me into thinking of them as cute all of the time.

I've "Sneak"ed through plenty of Falmer areas and recently my first time in Duskglow was the only place I've ever seen Chauruses like that.

They look kinda' like http://ryecityschools.midland.schoolfusion.us/modules/groups/homepagefiles/cms/496886/Image/Webquests/Insects/earwig.jpg to me from all angles so IDK about "cute", but I almost felt badly killing them while they were sleeping. However, I'm sure they would've awoken and attacked from behind had we walked past them too far.

You should've tried whirlwinding your way ON the pillar. Loads of nice potions iirc.

Anyway, I discovered an ancient Nord ruin which looks like a fort from the outside. Plenty of necromancers, and a nice sidequest about a woman who wanted to bring her dead husband back to "life". And so I got the Ghostblade. Too bad it isn't that good a weapon 'though.

Ah, and I accidentally found the dwemer ruin with the glowing orb you can touch, hehe. The alarm that went off sounded kinda weird imho.

I was in the cave Greywinter Watch the other day, on a mission for the Companions to clear it out of trolls. After wiping them out I noticed these human skulls, all arranged neatly in a row on a ledge of rock. There must've been about eight of them.
This is significant, people. Trolls are developing a sense of art and decoration. The folk of Skyrim should be so proud, they'll get to donate their body parts to the good cause of Trollic art in the near future.

On another note, I decided to clean out Cronvangr Cave today. It was the one place I've been avoiding in all my Skyrim adventures, because I hate, hate spiders, ESPECIALLY IF THEY'RE AS BIG AS A FREAKING HORSE!!! Honestly, Beth just had to put them in the game, didn't they?! But I conquered my fears and rid the world of that spider infestation, clutching my Incinerate spell, Staff of Fireballs and Fire Breath very tightly. I'm so proud of myself... sniff!

Ah, while we're on the subject... can you upgrade these ghost blades (including the ones from Labyrinthian) with a workbench, like normal weapons? Anyone know?

WTF? Farkas and Torvar out here on the road with an Imperial Courier running back and forth? Do the members of the Companions actually do stuff outside of Jorrvaskr without us? It was 2am and they were heading east.
