TES Fantasy Baseball #1

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 2:12 am

As much as I hate rooting for the Yankees, Jeter's been killing it to start the season and has been a more than adequate replacement for Castro (even though I had them both before I traded the latter).

Also, Freeman has been a total bust for me...I need to drop him.

A caveat of fantasy baseball is rooting for players/teams that you hate.

Heh, ain't that the truth.

I've been trying to figure out if I should drop either Bonifacio or Jeter in favor of someone who will give me more power production. I can add Jennings who'll give me more home runs, RBIs, roughly the same number of runs, and steals (a few more than Bonifacio, a bunch more than Jeter). The only issue is that his average is a bit lower, and it would give me yet another outfielder on a roster that already has 5 outfielders :P. I could add Hunter who'll give me a couple more home runs and a slightly higher average than Jennings, but the steals will take a hit (and if I'm dropping Bonifacio, I want to recover those steals). Any advice?

Finally a healthy offensive day. I'm going to look into free agency to try and fill in some holes in my lineup, cause some of my guys have been slumping hard. I might end up just playing off of hot streaks all year in some positions.

Edit.

Oh, and I hate Lincecum.

Trade you for him.

And Thaddeus, it seems fitting that in a week duel between us, the first matchup is Rangers/Sox.

I saw you post it last time, this time I may have to take you up on it! I really hate him right now, I'm surprised you want him man.

I'm super-duper glad I dropped Mark Melancon when I did. I'm sure he's still in the fetal position crying after what the Rangers did to him.

...Why, Lester? WHY?!

The only thing that kept me from dropping 1st place (I only lost one point, luckily) was that my offense absolutely obliterated everything yesterday. I had a .470 average, 10 runs, 4 home runs, 12 RBIs, and 2 steals. One of my friends actually dropped Aramis Ramirez yesterday and I want to pick him up, but there's nobody that I can really think to drop to make room for him. I can drop one of my relievers, but once I activate Upton from the DL that'll leave me with only one bench pitcher, and that would be Beckett.

I'm getting thoroughly beat down this week. My pitching isn't even there to keep me in it. When Josh Willingham is your source of offensive production, you're in trouble...

I wouldn't worry too much about it. The Drinkers will pee it away.

It could be worse. He could be Justin Upton.

On the plus side, I appear to have finished very strongly in the draft (4 homers today from guys after the 20th round or picked up as free agents). On the negative side, 3 out of 5 of my starting outfielders are hurt. I can't complain about the teams performance, but I have to figure that sooner or later I'll need Justin Upton to at least get one RBI.

You have both of the Uptons, and they're both hurt. What are the odds?

This hurts on two different levels, doesn't it?

You bet.

But it's not too bad, because of my recently acquired addiction to sports-talk-radio, his slow start adds plenty of fodder to the sports-talk-fire So I can forget my troubles and get my fix.

I really hope that B.J. Upton gets activated today. About 1/4 of my starting lineup has the day off, and I'd like to plug him into the outfield to hopefully give me a couple of runs or something.

I put Pierzynski in today, he's not even the starting line-up. My pitching can't stop giving up runs. Yay!

Trying to claw my self back in to this matchup. I'd hate to start the season with two losing weeks.

Beltre gets pulled with a hamstring injury. Bad for my fantasy team, bad for the Rangers. Quite the double whammy.

I just need to get healthy... I'm quite happy with how I'm doing considering the injuries, but that doesn't mean I feel good about how I'm doing :P.

There's a reason I actually kinda avoid Braves players, I don't want to end up with both my fantasy team and my actual team being horrid because of the same players.

Well, in an unexpected turn of events, my team decided to put up some fight today. Depending on what happens tomorrow, I might be able to salvage a little bit of this match-up.

As much as I hate the Yankees, Red Sox fan's anguish* is going to be delicious this year.

*Not any specific Red Sox fan, especially not our beloved Z Man, but Red Sox nation in general.
