HR texture pack out.. Can we get some screenshots? (stuck at

It all depends on the Texture Packs that you are using. I would imagine that some mod sorting or other method would be needed. With ESPs, just adjust the load order so the other ESPs load after this. With loose files, Archive Invalidation or some other method. See the mods section of the boards for the best way to handle this.

EDIT It may not be as complicated as dealing with an Archive Invalidation. I would test it then check with the mod authors if the other textures you want are not showing up and they can tell you what to do.

It is ESPs that pull from BSA's that are included in the mod.

Just uncheck the ESPs and the textures will not be used.

Nothing needs to be done to your current install, other than any mods that you may already have that handle Textures, see my above comment on that

So a ESP that references a BSA DOES override the loose files in the custom made "textures" folders created/used by mods like Vurts/Skyrim 2K HD and others? Im so confused...i thought loose files ALWAYS had predence over BSA's xD!! My head hurts lol

I may be confused here also. I thought loose files required an Archive Invalidation mechanism to be loaded in the first place. Maybe if your using something Archive Invalidation Invalidated that it renders all this moot. It would be best to test it, then figure out why the textures you want are not loading, then fix those few. I am sure the modders who make Texture mods would be best to get this answer from for their respective mods.

a modder named "the compiler" works on a collection of mods (textures/gameplay etc) and is working to compile a list which will not conflict with the texture upgrades - http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.skyrimnexus.com%2Fdownloads%2Ffile.php%3Fid%3D11&h=dAQGmJvuO
it is probably the easiest way to get the most out of skyrim.

Aye i suppose, im not sure either, im still downloading so i have no way to test yet.

As far as i can tell from speaking to modders, ESP related BSA's get overwritten by loose files, like in normal circumstances to what goes on when we add packs without esps in new "texture" folders.

However, i believe that ESM master records that reference a BSA may possible override loose files.

EDIT

Oh no wait they cant otherwise lol Skyrim.ESM would make it so custom texture packs cant be used xD! Duh...ok ill shush and we'll wait and see what the situation is :P.

I say it's the perfect moment to return to Skyrim. Dropped the game mid december due to exams, haven't picked it up since.

I thing I going to complain about is the how long this going to take to download. Though I have a 150kb per second download speed, past couple of months has been crappy. Usually in mornings its good then couple of hours later then its slows down like a sprinter try to sprint with a chain and ball dragging behind with him.

Least what I can understand its a esp least I can tick and untick if I have issues. That's a plus.

Past week I have not been using the games AA and AF but using the graphics card driver AA (x8) an AF (x16) which is a improvement from the games AA and AF settings.

I not going to look at anyone else screens shots to compare. I want to see with my own eyes. So I going to be waiting for awhile.

Anyway I have things to do today so I hope later today I going to see and play. If not later this week.

I having too much fun in Dead Island after I adjust fov setting from 62 to 85.

WOW - 3 GBs of textures?
Keep in mind, guys, that these replace textures already in the game. So if the vanilla Skyrim textures use 2GB, now they are replaced by 3GB. So, it's not adding 3 more GB to the textures in the game. On the other hand, this 3GB doesn't replace every texture in the game, as far as I can tell from the screenshots, not even close.

As long as you have the VRAM (video card RAM), performance won't be affected very much at all. I've installed much larger textures and it's not really hurt performance, I get 60FPS. If I install very large textures it will. THese are not very large.

What I really want to say is thank you to Bethesda. THe textures might not be super resolution, but they are obviously much more clear. The vanilla ones were very blurry. Now they are clearer and more detailed. Overwhelmingly, I love the original designed textures. For everything else, there's MasterCard -- or I mean Mods.

I'm out of town on buisiness, and I can't wait to get back home this weekend and install this and mess with the CK.

Here's a comparison shot of an object:

Note: all the shots I've taken are totally vanilla. No injectors, sharpeners, whatever.

For those who are curious... you can not have HD texture mods running with the dlc. Thread I made, but got moved to the mods section: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1343602-vanilla-vs-hd-texture-pack-vs-skyrimhd-2k/

Vanilla:

That ones seems wrong, the bolts on the ground are there on the official high res version. Or is that not the official HD pack but another modded one?

Fallout 3 had nice filtered grass but Skyrim doesn't.

What do you mean? What's a transparency filter?

Here's a comparison shot of an object:

High Enchantment table: http://www.imgplace.com/viewimg718/3594/19enchanthires.png

Note: all the shots I've taken are totally vanilla. No injectors, sharpeners, whatever.

I find it interesting to notice which textures have large changes, which have slight changes, and which have next to none. The wooden frame of the table has next to no change in texture, while the tabletop has a rather significant amount of improvement.

Use supersample AA(SSAA), MSAA with transparency AA has a bug with the game.

I just doubled checked and they are in my game with the HD DLC. Strange, and it is low res, but the wood around it is high res. I have no mods installed for testing. Perhaps you have this from one of your mods? I even re-downloaded and verified cache with no mods. Totally clean and good to go, and for sure those bolts are there with and without the official high res textures.

I'm guessing it has to do w/ focus point: what is the player focusing on the most when looking at something? When it comes to the enchanment table, the tabletop symbols obviously.

Another thing to consider is the baseline: 1GB cards. So whatever they choose to include or exclude has to perform acceptably from that baseline.

Edit: anyone interested in what was included/excluded should take a look at this thread: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1343691-info-detailed-anolysis-of-highres-pack-click-to-learn/

I just want to say, thank you Beth.

This is one hell of a DLC. I just deleted all my mods, my INI's etc etc and installed it.
Reinstalled my lighting mod and a few tweaks, no textures.

The new textures are beautiful. Clothes look fantastic, armour is stunning (Check out the Thieves guild master armour improvements).
And unlike mods, I can run this with virtually no performance drop.
Oh, and Blocky faces - Fixed.

Thank you thank you!

PS: There IS a transparency filter if you enable it in your ini or nvidia inspector. I'v always used it as FXAA is horrid.
