Thank the 8 or 9? Talos: Divine or no?

What appears to be an Altmeri commentary on Talos:
To kill Man is to reach Heaven, from where we came before the Doom Drum's iniquity. When we accomplish this, we can escape the mockery and long shame of the Material Prison.
To achieve this goal, we must:
1) Erase the Upstart Talos from the mythic. His presence fortifies the Wheel of the Convention, and binds our souls to this plane.
2) Remove Man not just from the world, but from the Pattern of Possibility, so that the very idea of them can be forgotten and thereby never again repeated.
3) With Talos and the Sons of Talos removed, the Dragon will become ours to unbind. The world of mortals will be over. The Dragon will uncoil his hold on the stagnancy of linear time and move as Free Serpent again, moving through the Aether without measure or burden, spilling time along the innumerable roads we once travelled. And with that we will regain the mantle of the imperishable spirit.

I don't exactly equate them with Altmer per se. Just like I don't equate Nazis with Germans (Oops...there's that word again ). I think they're another thing entirely. They're more than just the ugly (or ugliest) side of Altmer arrogance.

What you say about other hidden motivations and hangups is true enough when it comes to some persecutors, but just the way these Thalmor talk sounds like religious matters are on their mind a lot.
Thanks, Merari, that's exactly the relevant text.

Korr, you're not wrong that the Altmer motivations are "religious," or at least mythic. The only thing is, they aren't telling the truth about what those motivations are. The problem with Altmer is they really don't like being here. They find it humiliating, and they want a way out. Talos is jamming up the whole works for them. He keeps open a space in which lowly adventurers keep inching towards the goal.

That's cool. I would support any khajiit getting a fair shot, for once.

:) Khajiit feel's warmth from your presence.

Ah, now you're tugging at my sympathies. Maybe I do like Talos, being the lowly adventurer that I am.

Auri'el, the Elven version of Akatosh, was supposed to have led them against Lorkahn, then ascended into the heavens to watch over them, more than implying he was an elven mortal turned divine.

Oh. I see. Alrighty then

Precisely. I'm really hoping the next TES takes us to Alinor, because I'd love to see what in Oblivion the Psiijics are up to. Given the Aldmeri life span, could it be possible a few of the ones who were alive when Talos united Tamriel might still be around ? If so, whatever they would have to say would prove quite interesting. :tes:

We might see them in DLC, their HQ is on an island that they "disappeared" to some unknown place.

He's a divine.

But he's not an aedra.

Dragonborn != Divine. If you had tried to use Dovahkiin's blood for the last ritual in Oblivion it would've failed. Sky temple just needed blood of a dragonborn.

I agree on both counts, and the aedra aspect is presumably the Thalmor's hangup

But do we know whether or not the average Thalmor soldier knows about this Talos is Keeping you Down idea, let alone your average Altmer civilian? Considering how indivisuals like Ondolemar outright say that the next war is coming soon (despite how the Thalmlor wants to present itself as a friend), I get the feeling someone would have given it away, despite how the Thalmor seems to want it to be secret. More likely your average Thalmor believes this really is them simply purging heretics and trying to cleanse Tamriel for more wordly reasons.

That is, of course, if Bethesda is following the lore behind that post.
