Always two there are, no more, no less. A master and an apprentice.
But which was left behind in Blackreach Cavern, the master or the apprentice?

Creak.... Creak... Creak... Creak... Drives me nuts.

If you never asked her to follow you then she'll stay in her own room while you're gone.

Op is fake.

OK so here's the story. I tell Lydia to go home and she does as she is told and about an hour later I return to the house to see her leaving as if she was preparing for battle. I decide to follow her but as a horse(used the player.setrace code) so she wouldn't know it was me(RPing anyways.) So I follow her from Breezehome all the way to Riverwood. So now I am getting suspicious and instead of stopping to talk with someone she goes THROUGH Riverwood and goes toward Helgen. So once we get to Helgen she fights off a couple of bandits and then she stops at the basket that was holding the decapitated head of that guard from the beginning of the game. So she stops right there just looking at the basket and all of the sudden a dragon swoops down and attacks! I then transforn back into my character and help Lydia. After the dragon is dead she looks at me and says "Honor to you, my thane." then walks off back to Riverwood. She stops at the Inn and sits around the fire for an hour and goes back home. I decided to see if she would do it again and I followed her for the past 6 ingame days. She gets attacked by animals or bandits on the trip every time! So does anyone else see Lydia doing this?

I always find it strange when someone makes up a whole load of BS...

JUST FOR THE ATTENTION.

Sad.

I don't think the story is made up at all. I had to use placeatme 'lydia's code' in my most recent game because she simply wasn't at Dragonreach or Breezehome anytime I went to check there. I've never seen Lydia wandering but I have seen other NPC's, like Delphine show up randomly walking around Whiterun or the Companions half-way across the map fighting some bears. Certain NPC's have a 'roaming' script that cause them to get up and wander off occasionally, and Lydia could very well be one.

Lydia does the same as the rest of them. Lives a totally unfulfilling life guarding my huge collection of bones, mushrooms, flowers, ore, and cool items gained at level 5 or whatever.
Iona however, cooks, does rude things (even if you don't get to see), then gives me money. Now that's pimpin'.

Forget the real in the world of fantasy. The narration is as good for a book of lore as any other. It is the stuff that dreams are made of. And that's why we are here - we are dreamers!

You can't turn into a horse, and where little lies are, larger ones are certain to follow.

In the world of fantasy anything is possible. It's an open world for those that'd still want to believe in something with the heart of a child. It's a covered precious, not only a naked lie.

It may be just the OP's sense of humour about turning him/herself into a horse so she wouldn't recognize him. At least it made everyone read the post instead of getting bored with bland narrative.

I have started quite a few games from scratch and in some I've seen npc's such as the companions wandering around (near Helgen) or other far wierder stuff that apperently doesn't happen to other Skyrim players. In some of my restarts I never see them doing that.

One of my family has fireballs landing (and sticking) in front of him like a fallen meteor every time he enters Whiterun way way after the battles over. He's seen Letrush's (or whatever you call him) getting executed by an orc several times both inside the city and out wandering on the roads. He's even had a whole tribe (eight now with crashes) gathering outside whiterun and if he kills them he sees more running towards Whiterun or wandering around the countryside! I haven't seen that myself on my console but I've watched it on his.

Oh, and Lydia seems quite happy to see you if you leave her chair hopping and munching sweetrolls. She turns a bit sarcastic and sounds put out when you start dragging her around asking her to carry your stuff. So I leave her to it. (as long as she chases the occasional guard out of my house that wanders in to nose around from time to time! -I've definately seen that.)

I don't blame her. She always gets lumped dragging around a pile dragon bones. You know we all do it. ;) Poor Lydia, give her another bone.

Whenever we observe an unpleasant disturbance in the sequence of scripted events we feel pleasantly surprised, cos this kind of not forseeable action constitutes humans. We feel suddenly akin to the corrupted AI, and this is indeed the salt in the soup of the game.

Lydia just sits upstairs in my Whiterun house and eats bread. I suppose she's guarding all the gems I put in the chest near the bed. Good Lydia. Just keep eating...

@Jeven: Heh heh! Not any more. I couldn't stand the sarcasm. I pile it all on boot-licking Jordis instead....

Yeah, I think it's great! Especially if you're playing the game over. It's fascinating!

Haha, I get those guards coming through the door with me as well! Once Nazeem came in... it's like the gods were tempting me to murder him.

I dont understand all of the hateration Lydia receives. My redguard spellsword adores her. She is extremely loyal, and saved his but many times on the early levels. At level 34, he has no problem watching her "backside" from time to time. Yes, she only hangs around my room and eats bread when not following. I dont have any problem with it. She is not lazy. She is sworn to protect me... and all that I own. She is only doing her job... even when I sleep. Yes, she does walk like a man. She is a Boss. She also has personality. She will carry your burdens, but is no fool and lets you know it. She is definitely cool. Jordis is ok also, but I prefer Lydia. I recruited Jennassa, Brelyna, and Mjoll into the blades. Lydia and Jordis are his personal carls, and he is as loyal to them as they are to him. My redguard is a devout Dibellan. He is an agent of Dibella, married Senna-Priestess of Dibella and has Dibellan statues all over his Markarth bedroom where he worships both Senna and Dibella. Nothing is sixier to him than knowing that either Lydia or Jordis are the only members of his inner sanctum watching their thanes "backside" as he worships his wife and divine. He protects them all with his life.

Tell her to follow you. Then tell her to go away. She should then leave your house.
