The fact you're on your 6th character doesn't seem to say much for roleplay or the depth of the game, nor does it say much about not getting boring. In fact it seems to support the thread if anything.
Still I have to ask why you have changed characters so often? I made more then that but thats mainly due to the bugs nobody gets and can't possibly exist on xbox since the game was made solely for that console, this point in Oblivion I was still messing round with my first character with hundreds of hours of play.

i make new characters quite often, as well. to assume it's due to boredom or a lack of depth is false.

i change because these are long games and i'm excited to try the different character types.

I agree with you partly BUT, tell me other games that give you 170+ quality hours playtime.

Battlefield bad company. Its the only online game I have ever played that I have gotten over 10,000 kills on and I had much more than 170+ hours on it. And that coming from me is something special, why? Because I HATE the majority of FPS games. But battlefield is doing it right, I think its one of the only online series I love playing.

Skyrim was super fun but its starting to die out on me, im around the 200+ hour mark and thats with 1 character. (im not much for making multiple characters)
As for bugs there are not really any major ones, but small bugs......... ughh thats a different story. Do you know how annoying it is to try and make a house the way you want it but nothing will stay in place? The majority of the mannequins are screwed up and I have one that keeps on duplicating light dragon armor, thats annoying because I cant display anything else but that on that mannequin and I had over 200k gold by the time this glitch started so I dont even want to bother exploting it. Its mostly the houses that are now ticking me off

so now im just waiting on the DLC. Because when I actually have something to do the game is super fun. Ohh and im on PS3 so I cant mod or use cheats, but that doesnt bother me one bit, nor do I say "I wish i had the PC version so I can mod or cheat" Im content with waiting for new content. Gives me a chance to play games with my friends in the meantime.

Hmmm... around 200 hours in, 120 of that on my Bosmer Archer, only questline completed fully is the Mages Guild, map not fully revealed, doing the thieves guild. I guess we play different. The exploration and wandering in this game, occasionally doing whatever quests I feel like, has been pure awesome for me. Relatively problem free too, I might add.

I never understand people that over-hype anything - it just sets you up for almost certain disappointment. As you have just proven to yourself. :( I play games for enjoyment. If I am not enjoying a game, I try another one or just go do something else.

I wish I'd have kept a running tally of how many of these "I'm done with Skyrim" threads I skimmed through the last couple of weeks because it seems like a lot. Can someone enlighten me as to the point of them? Personally, I can only think of three passive-aggressive reasons:

1. The OP is hoping for impassioned pleas from Skyrim fans to give the game another chance like a lover playing hard to get.

2. He wants us to join him in saying Skyrim svcks hard compared to a big laundry list of supposedly superior games that we all must ditch this one for in expectation of thousands of hours of quality entertainment to be had anywhere else except for Skyrim. I guess it doesn't matter that some of us either have no interest in games in that list(Minecraft) or have already played a few of them and for some crazy reason still like Skyrim as well.

3. Let defenders of Skyrim state why they enjoy playing even now and then proceed to belittle and tear apart their continued enthusiasm with endless pissing and moaning about every conceivable flaw in the game.

The thing that blows my mind is that most of these rants happen after the person has invested several hundred hours of his or her precious time into Skyrim. That means you either got a lot of quality entertainment for your money compared to most games out there or you plodded on masochistically playing a game you apparently despise.

Moaning about only getting 170 hours out of a game may seem churlish but what else is there to play?There`s not as many decent games on the PC as there used to be,and those who`ve played Oblivion A LOT want a game that has substantial gaming improvements.For me Skyrim is the only show in town unless I go back to Oblivion-which is something I always have to do(Dragon Age,Two Worlds,The Witcher anyone?}
If other studios were making decent long-lasting games there`d be fewer complaints, but the irony is Bethesda are the only ones out there so they'll get more complaints.
Or maybe PC owners should quit gaming?

Yup, doing my 7,389th fetch quest did it for me, The repetitive and poorly thought out quests burned me out. Most of the guild quests are the same too. Fetching and a combination of

To each his own.

If you paid $60 for Skyrim it's cost you about 0.35 cents an hour.
Had you worked at Macdonald's for the same amount of time you could have earned about $1500.
Had you been the Chairman of Exxon for the same amount of time you would have made over $1 million.

This, definitely this!

After 200 hours, I find fun in alchemy and exploration rather than doing structured quests.

Pretend you're the guard of Whiterun and root out all the nearby bandits for slaughter or pretend you're a bandit and slaughter everyone in Whiterun. Read all the in-game books. Count every step leading up to High Hrothgar. Use you're imagination, and god-forbid don't cheat!

I'm playing LOTRO at this moment until the CK comes out this month. I wish I hadn't played LOTRO before Skyrim because it kind of spoiled the game for me somewhat. Middle Earth is massive and you really need a horse to roam the world. There are some impressive level design in that game that beats Skyrim hands down. I never get bored in there. There are tons of quests in LOTRO of all types. I've about 120 quests that I haven't completed yet and I still haven't scratched the surface. Rivendell is a sight to be hold.

To the OP: try the lotro now that it's free.

That's scary man. Another massive game is not what I need right now. I'd be better suited playing a few levels of pac man.

Wow man, u mad?

EDIT - your post is so full of fail that I can't even figure out where to start.

..........
Finally, I used to work with ascgames (the publishers of GTA I and II) and I've played III, VC, SA, and IV (all expansions) and not one the series is good for 170 hours of actual storyline and side missions. They do have definite re-playability though, but it's not as if there's variability in the character development. They are fairly linear games except for the sandbox nature of the world.

In what capacity did you work with ascgames?

Dittto. If you just bang through all the questlines and dungeons, you'll kinda miss the point of the game.

I've been on the same character since release. Dunno how many hours but I've wandered a lot, done many satisfying quests (and yes, a few vanilla draugr dungeons), made friends, got a dog, solved mysteries, developed skills, collected loot and I still haven't joined a guild or started the main quest and I'm still only level 15. Getting my money's worth.

I've probably put in about 70 hours so far, playing in a way thats more addictive than heroin and only done about third of the quests.

But you know what, I didn't win the lottery whilst playing this game, nor did I have an orgy with some real life wenches. So because of that this game svcks, FU Bethesda I want my money back for refund!!!!

That alone kinda removes the legitimacy of his statement. Only a minority of game through history have been able to hold one persons interrest for so long.

Sr. Systems Engineer for their web hosting/colo provider.

I managed the servers on which their public website resided (Sun Solaris... yes, it was the 90s) :) I know, not exactly a game developer or anything, but... :)

Way to go! You just admitted to stealing the game. You did this in public directly on the forums of the game developer/publisher.

I hope they track down your source IP address and send out the law dogs :) I hope you're using TOR.

But they probably won't.

Oddly enough the Companions are the exception to this, but they force you to do all their quests way to quickly, leaving you as a leader killing bears

I have 170+ hours of ingame time, shared over 3 characters consisting of a mage, a warrior and a stealth user. I've done main quest, fought in the civil war, done the quest for the College, done craploads of miscellaneous quests and cleared 100+ draugr filled dungeons.

And now, the game is just repetitive, tedious and annoying. Too many bugs, a flawed leveling system (try it over 3 characters!), similar quests over and over, and 75% of the content is directly ripped from Oblivion, but with a new packing.

I was so hyped over this game to begin with, and hoped that I could build a new life in a way, just as I'd done in Oblivion and Fallout 3. But even housing is bugged in this game. It's just so... uninspiring. It doesn't challenge my imagination or curiosity at all.

I know this is the 1000th thread of this kind, but when you reach this point you kind of need to share it with other people. Because it's so sad. :(

EDIT: That said, how do I make the game interesting again? Because I figure we can all agree that it's one of the most flexible games/game engines there is, and it would be a waste not to exploit this.

At least if you calculate the ((flexibility of game/game engine)/graphics) ratio.
Wait until DLC comes out.

i still play the game and get blown away with amazement. Stil have to do the dark br. the companions and or the stormcloaks. I really do not understand what the problem is.
It is like he said,,,,,,when do you play a game that is 170 hour in and stil did not al the quests.
And stil i do not understand why some of us have bugs and others do not. i play on xbox and pc. and have no bugs (just a hick up once in a while ) I was so hyped over this game also. And for me it was like i tought it was.
Maybe you should wait a few months.untill the bugs are out and the dlc is out. And play as a multy character that is everything. I play that way. and it never gets boring. This tim i have to use this abillity and some other time i
have to do it totally different.
