The Imperial Legion vs. Caesar's Legion

They mean quite a bit when it's 100x what you have. You may be tough, but 1 man can't take a 100 men. 100 men can't take 10,000... 100 can't take 100,000...

My character can with an incinerator with alot of ammo :flamethrower:

Chameleon spells, control humaniod spells, shield spells, fear spells. this list goes on.

Nothing beats magic.

I concur.
Also, the Imperial Leigon has an advantage in numbers.
IL has:
1.Magic-really this is the deal-breaker, with battle-mages summoning daedra, casting army decimating spells, shielding from bullets, healing instantly, turning invisible...its quite overwhelming. Speaking of overwhelming....
2.Numbers-As far as I can tell, the IL has alot more troops than CL and eventually they'd just squish the CL
3.Better Gear-Every soldier in the IL is packin a full suit of heavy armor and every soldier has a good military-grade weapon

Well I think ceaser's legion should burn in hell and the imperial legion is awesome, but realistically ceasers legion would win, they have guns

They irradiated searchlight, we KNOW it happened. You're talking about things that the IL MIGHT have done, or things you think they COULD do.

Got any examples of IL battlemages using zombies in battles?

The Conquest of the Aldmeri Dominion escalated this far (as in both sides using undead) before Numidium turned the scales.

Among the war-crimes during the conquest of Black March was the use of the Vampiric Cloud spell against a whole city.

From a moral point of view, the IL in general isn't so much better than Cesars Legion is. Both use any means available, including terror weapons, and both need to watch their back lest their subjects will stand up against them. The main difference is that the tamrielic empire already finished their conquest, and now mainly care about retaining their power

AFAIK they don't have access to a Numidium.

And they have no access to FO-Earth either :frog:

CL did in fact irradiate a whole NCR Camp (Search Light)...

But only because the radioactive waste was already there. Caesar's Legion didn't have the waste to begin with; they merely found its location (at Camp Searchlight) and sent two guys to open up a few containers, thus irradiating the town.

For the initial assault on Akavir, the Tamrielic Empire sent the Fifth, Seventh, Tenth, and Fourteenth Legion, each of them numbering 5000 men.

As history shows. Gun powder overcame melee fighters. It blasted the samurai away. It masscared the Indians. It made short work of Ninjas. So on and so forth.

Imperial Legion only has magic on their side. But a .50 cal sniper > Fireball.

I just thought of something.

If the IL win once-- once, against a CL battalion, then they have access to stuff like ballistic fists and thermal lances and displacement fists and GUNS.

You can't loot the magic off of a dead guy, though. And armor's only going to do so much when the battlemage just got a critical hit with a ballistic fist.

So assuming 20 legions you've got an army of 100,000. Seems about right.

We don't know how big Caesar's legion is, but consider they have conquered all of Arizona and New Mexico, and much of Colorodo and Utah. Also consider that according to Ranger Chief Hanlon the NCR loses 1000 troopers a year to the legion and they aren't in anywhere near a full scale war, mostly just border skirmishes.

To be fair, many of them are needed to maintain peace in the occupied regions, or support the local figurehead rulers. The Tamrielic Empire is pretty much like ancient Rome in this regard: A major thread on one border may require troop withdrawal from other regions, and thus bring the empire's downfall.

What about Imperials slaves? im sure they got some argonians lying about somewhere. Use them as cannon fodder.

They'd get a better understanding of caesars forces.

Actually are we talking about a battle or a full scale war?

Im pretty sure battlemages aren't that powerful, hell im pretty the mages guild couldn't do that. Also im pretty sure it would be against most their laws to summon a daedric god.

And why would a daedric god even help the Imperials as seen the serve under emperors which fight to trap in their realm of oblivion.

People did it in the past. In one of the in-game book series, 2920, a witch summons mehrunes dagon to get revenge on a king that banished her after he got her pregnant.

So there is two people then i'm aware of summoning a god then. Even then Mankar had to kill alot of important people including the emperor. Im not sure if they would cool with unleashing a known threat to deal with some guys in skirts.

In that same series, someone summons Molag Bal (AKA King of [censored]) to terrorize a town in Valenwood (may have been Elsweyr). This forced Sotha Sil (Dunmer living god) to make a pact with the Daedra so they wouldn't be summoned by anyone but Psijjics and witches for the remained of the Dunmer-Cyrodiilic war.

Im thinking Mehrunes Dagon would be more apt to fight Caesar than the IL would.

The Compact wouldnt stop him from opening oblivion gates and sending immortal soldiers to 'Practice' on Caesars legion

HE loves death, and he can just 'Create' more soldiers

I just don't think the imperials would risk summoning him. Daedra possibly but definitly not gods. Also Mehrunes would have nothing to gave from this. Well apart from killing stuff.

Also best thread ever.

Supporters of Caesar's Legion answer me this question,[instead of ignoring it again]
You claim that CL's guns would be the decisive advantage that would claim victory. If that was true they'd have already lost to the NCR. Ceaser's legion manages to go toe to toe with the NCR despite being severely outgunned.

So tell us, why is it that despite most of the legion specializing in close combat weaponry their able to match the NCR and their guns? but that doesn't apply to the Imperial Legion and there mages.

And once again, I'm an invisible mage, I summon a Faded Wraith. The faded wrath has to fight 50 guys with Ballistic fists and anti-material rifles. Who wins? Well the Faded Wraith is IMMUNE to non-magical weapons so the Ballistic fists and anti-material rifles deal no damage. Hell even better I could disguise myself as a member of the legion or even a slave, and continually summon monsters the legion is incapable of damaging. Explain how they beat a monster they can't harm, and have NO clue why its suddenly appearing.

Yeah it's going to be awesome watching those tightly packed roman testudos walking over a mine field. :hubbahubba:

Or when they use radiation bombs on them like they did to Searchlight. The IL doesn't even know what radiation is, they would have no defense against it.

Please tell me when a battlemage has done anything like what you mentioned in your second paragraph.

Radiation is basically acts like a poison. One cure poison spell and your good. The Imp Legions restoration magic could easily be used to cure radiation poisoning. Or considering the mines are quite easily visible a single fireball sets them all off and clears a path. The mine field would take out a couple before they figured out what those disks on the ground did.

I beg to differ. Tactics matter more than numbers and Caesar knows tactics. Before you make the case that the Imperials do too, both sides do. Caesar has the upper hand of also having technology on his side.

Yes... I know. God, do I know. Everyone who wants to assert that the Imperial Legion would win uses that argument. My post was made to prove that even a small force would be able to take on a larger force so long as they understood the value of training and tactics.

Not sure if it has been said before, but remember the IL could probably persuade some of the Nine Divines or even a few Daedric Princes to aid them in their conquest. Imagine Akatosh taking to the field to aid the IL?

Cyrodiil and Tamriel in general have seen worse threats than a pack of scantily clad ruffians.

All CL have to do is find a rock to stand on and 50% of the IL won't have the brains to get to them :P

So where is this narrow pass where numbers mean nothing Caesar will use in his defense? the one that doesn't exist or the one that would put his own bunched up forces vulnerable to fireballs?

Yes... I know. God, do I know. Everyone who wants to assert that the Imperial Legion would win uses that argument. My post was made to prove that even a small force would be able to take on a larger force so long as they understood the value of training and tactics.

And everyone who asserts the CL would win uses the technology argument which is bogus because the technology argument hasn't won the day for the NCR.
How will the legion fight the conjured creatures immune to non-magical weapons?

Most of Caesar's legion uses melee weapons yet there able to hold their own against the NCR? answer that question and once you do you'll know why his technological advantage over the Imperial Legion wouldn't save him. So if technological advantage is so important how come the legion does so well with machetes and spears?

All CL have to do is find a rock to stand on and 50% of the IL won't have the brains to get to them :P

Most of CL uses melee weapons so that's a lot of guys on rocks being shot to death by arrows and spells.
