The Last Airbender: Legend of Korra

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 8:03 pm

It's probably like what Aang did with Roku.

Also, Tales of Ba Sing Se, Iroh's bit, is the only thing in the last...11 years to make me tear up a little, save for my great grandfather's funeral.

Spoiler

Is it really Aang's ghost or just his spirit appearing to the new Avatar like all the previous ones did for him -- basically can Korra only see it or can they all see it?)

Spoiler
From the screenshot it looked just like how Aang saw Roku's spirit. That's what I meant by ghost. Although it was an old version of him: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hoMl1Zwbsd0&feature=player_detailpage#t=16s

We can't forget that Korra IS Aang. In the Last Airbender we learned that every Avatar is the reincarnation of the previous. Which means they're all the same person, reincarnated into a different bender class/person/life.

This is true. The reason that it's not called Avatar: The Legend of Korra seems to be due to licensing reasons. Which is odd, seeing as The Last Airbender was first.

James Cameron originally wanted to make the movie way back in the late 90's, right after Titanic, but he didn't have the technology for it back then. Apparently he did trademark the name at that time though.

Really? I did not know that. Although it doesn't make me any less annoyed that Pocahontas: IN SPACE!!! gets the title.

It's not so much that he preemptively trademarked the name, but Nick stupidly didn't apply for Avatar Trademarks in merchandise, and James Cameron grabbed them all right before his movie. And given that Nick caused him grief over his movie's name, he'd be more than happy to cause Nick grief over Avatar in merchandise if given the chance

I liked good ol' original Avatar better, this one looks a little too modernized IMO.

A even more funny story is this.

James Cameron made Avatar as a testing ground for a movie he is gonna make based off a Japanese manga.

but yeah Legend of Korra looks badass, funny that American cartoons do best when the creators try to mimic anime.

In Avatar the Last airbender's case, the creator wanted to try to make a show as badass as the anime FLCL also known as FOOLY COOLY.

Except if you watched FLCL you would know it did have a plot.

But anyways Avatar and Thundercats 2011 are bringing back my love for American cartoons. After Disney and Pixar tried their hardest to destroy it.

I was disappointed that the original Avatar series ended before you could hear what happened to Zuko's mother.

It was a giant plot question that they never let us hear the answer to. I mean Zuko found out but they never told us.

Will we find out what happened to Zuko’s mom?

DiMartino: That question will be answered in some way, but not necessarily in the show. That’s all I’ll say.

I'll translate it from creatornese into english:

"We haven't figured out how to wrap that up ourselves, but realize that many of the fans want an answer so we'll pull something out and throw it in somewhere, but it probably won't be in the show and be an unsatisfying answer"

There was a spoof mini webcomic I wanted to link about what happened, but I can't find it.

Regardless, what happened was, Zuko and takes Ozai to find her, with some awkward banter on the panels. On the last panel, she's on the balloon Ozai and Zuko were on, but to make things more awkward for Zuko, she and Ozai start making out as she says Ozai is a very bad boy or something.
