The mystery of bugs that live in jars. Can we solve it.

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 6:52 am

I'd like to see something awesome relating to them, but it's more likely that someone at Bethesda just threw 'em in to troll us. And troll they did.

Huh?
I never realized any of this. I just thought they were there for our own amusemant. I mean-.. I spent a good few moments/minutes watching a torchbug in a jar simply because it was shiny and made me happehz.
*sniff*
Yah.

There should be an option to release it, whisper some Elvish phrase to it, and then later one of the Eagles shows up to aid you in combat...wrong lore?

I'd like that, if only to fly on an eagle...

On a more serious note, they mean absolutely nothing and all time spend trying to find meaning in it is wasted time, unless of course you like trying to figure out something that means nothing

Even more seriously, there's nothing that means anything. Everything is based on relationship, which is only relative to the person experiencing that relationship, and that's all there is. The world is what you make of it.

I could possibly be for the big expansion pack we were promised two weeks after release, but we no get :( but thats my two cents about them.
You do realize if they released an expansion two weeks after the game dropped, they could have put that into the game itself. Yay pay for something that should be in the game already. Moron. There are 5 bugs in a jar. The writing means "stop being ADHD freaks and wait for stuff."

Think of the bugs as evil, darkness. And here they are, swirling around in the jars, unable to get out. Because if they did, they would spread. The corks are Skyrim. And it's the only thing keeping the darkness where it belongs.

....wait I think that's wrong as well.

Or maybe Bethesda had planned a joint venture with Game Freak and there were Bug Catchers spread throughout Skyrim, but the plan dissolved, Bethesda didn't have time to remove all the bug Pokemon caught in Pokeballs because of the 11.11.11 deadline, and so they just changed the Pokeball model to a glass jar.

If it is a pentogram, does anyone know what is at the centre?

Or perhaps they are just more things for us to collect with no meaning at all.

Has anybody though that they might be some leftover from a quest never implemented or that changed? Since these objects were curious the developers left them in the game as decorations even if they were no longer 'needed'.

There' s a large quest involving Kyne, the nordic god of nature, the one who moved some dragons to compassion towards men. A living insect magically living in a jar looks like something that may linked to a quest involving the god of nature.

I don't want any spoilers, I snuck in here with my eyes covered, but I just saw the thread title. Now, I'm usually really annoyed by the overload of inimaginative games that have you collect things (it's all Mario's coin's fault, followed by Sonic, etc.) But anyway, these bugs in the jars are so cool. I just love them. I put them on desks in my home, as display pieces. I hope to find more. I have 3 so far.

Haven't found any use for them yet, besides being my favorite items in the game.

I kind of space out watching it, but I honestly dont get the logic they used, when they use different patterns and formulas for each step.

EDIT: Added spoiler tag, just to be on the safe side.

This thread would win the Light-Hearted and Fun award :trophy: , if it wasn't for the few Frost Trolls that showed up.

You know how they say... "Get 3 real pigs, paint them blue and write 1, 2 and 4 on them. Release them in a crowded open space and laugh at the police trying to find the number 3."
What i wanna say is that not always things MUST have a reason.

According to he strategy guide ...
Spoiler
"This is more of a curiosity than a real quest." In other words, collect all five jars, and you get nothing other than the five jars, which you can put on display, drop, or sell, whatever. That's it, nothing more than that.

Is that the Prima guide?

I wouldn't use a Prima guide to balance a wobbly table.

Some people are being downers. It's not about if the bugs mean anything it's the not knowing that we like. Your missing the whole point. Who cares if they mean jack, who cares if we ever find out. It's just fun to throw ideas out there. Nobody knows if life beyond earth exsist but does that stop everyone from talking about it and using your imagination? Does that stop Hollywood from making millions of dollars? No! The reason why it's such a huge topic is because we don't know and will probably never know. Just saying.

Perhaps I am just missing the sarcasm in your comment, but you do realize that video was purely a parody, right?
