The South and the North

The only negative regional prejudices some of us have in Canada are: Saskatchewan is so flat that you can see your dog run away for three days, Newfie's are well...Newfie's, Manitoba is one of the dullest places in the world and everyone hates Torontonians because they all think that they are the center of the known universe.

I can't see why, it's such a dump. If I had the money, I'd like to immigrate to the northern part of England, there's nothing in the South I'd want to live by.

Everything's cheaper and everyone's nicer, it's just rainier. Pretty much sums it up, and I wouldn't swap it for anywhere else in the country.

I wouldn't really call Virginia South and that woman didn't sound very Southern by her attitude. Places like southern Tennessee and Georgia, that's South. In lived in those areas for a time and they use sir and ma'am as forms of respectful addressing. Kindest, friendliest people I've ever met. Just don't be insulting to them, they take it personally and wouldn't have a second thought on getting in a fistfight with you.

The reason its cheaper is because everyone is poor. Ethiopians are currently having a benefit concert to bring aid to the people of Hull.

On the plus side, I've never known a real water shortage like the standpipes they have every summer in the south. I like to go and swim in Angelzarke reservoir and etch the words "[censored] the south" into my wall with a pressure hose.

Hey, I've seen French tourists in Liverpool!

I sat beside some once. From what they were saying, I doubt they knew I speak French.

Seen Germans holidaying there too.

You can spot them from a distance, they're the ones running and screaming about witchcraft whenever they see a pylon.

You don't understand our culture, dude, Pendle was like 9/11 for us.

That's what the castle in the most beauteous town of cletheroe is for, to keep an eye on the hill in case [censored] goes down.

And I thought the zone warfare was bad in America.:lmao:

Well, the Isles had hundreds of years' practice before any ship had even come within sight of the Americas, so it really shouldn't surprise anyone :P.

People here actually divide Malta in North and South, lol!

Why wouldn't they? If you're in the South, it takes a whole friggin' tend minutes to get to the North! If the Northerners didn't have something unpleasant to hide, why would they be keeping themselves such a distance from everyone else? I rest my case.

Don't forget the Quebecois. :whistling:

Eh, I'm a Torontonian and I don't think its teh center of the universe. Honestly I'd much rather be in BC. But since you dont like us, thats why we have the CN Tower, to flip off the rest of Canada.

I didn't say I hated Torontonians, its just a general stereotype. I actually do live in BC and we don't all smoke pot...a lot of us do, but not all. :teehee: :turned: :shifty:

The parts of London I seen when I was going South for training were complete dumps, first world slums. There was a 20 something storey flat with nearly all the first 10 floor windows smashed and spray painted "menchies" all the way up the building using the fire escape aldders/platforms.

Nah, the north is colder and rainier.

What always amazes Americans in particular is how everyone can hate each other so much - like you can drive from half an hour from Manchester and be in Liverpool where everyone has a completely different accent (and they also steal hubcaps).

Meh, I try to plunge myself into English culture, so the regional dialects and rivalries are nothing new to me. I don't know why, but I've always found some sort of charm in the northern part that I feel the southern part lacks. I'm one of the few Americans who can see a picture of England and not see it's entire picture as 'Uh....isn't that London?'

Plus, I'm from the South in America. I'm from Memphis, TN and live just outside it in Mississippi. So I know alot about regional hate and rivalries. It's just bizarre how people here can't let go of the whole Dixie bunk.

I've been to Glasgow. Looked like something out of Mad Max, only it was full of really unconvincing crossdressers.
