In your opinion.

Not even giving the game at least one main-quest playthough as it is has got to be one of the biggest [censored] moves I could think of. Honestly, anyone who would do this just invalidates any opinion on Skyrim(however entitled to it they are) they have.

"Oh I hate this feature so I modded it, even though Ive never actually used that feature so I have no idea what its really like"... Really?

Yeh, I got trolled. Idc.

It's Bethesda. It's going to need a lot of patches to get rid of the worst bugs.
But mostly I'll wait to see what it's like, and if the DLC is worth sorting my budget.

Shame on all you ppl pirating software!
Who said anything about pirating?

Exactly. Are people going to seriously wait months for mods/patches for a game they haven`t even played? just based on what others are reporting back. That just seems madness.
I`ll play the game like always, then after a fair bit of time trying it, add any mods that i feel are needed. Wait another 6 months? Hell, no.

Having never played any Elder scrolls games in the past.......mainly because im not a fan of the first person view, i prefer 3rd person views in RPGs (Yay for Skyrim 3rd person view....if its any good), and ofcourse Bethesda's well known lack of release quality.

But i will be buying it on release day.

Oh, yay first post.

I admire your fortitude, but there's no way I'll be able to wait that long, even though it will certainly be a much better game after 6 months of modding. I'll occupy myself with the vanilla game in the meantime :D
I applaud you for not flaming the guy. +1

I agree with OP's sentiment , I may not make it 6 months but I will not be purchasing this game on it's release. I will be watching this forum and others for feedback regarding bugs and problems and the inevitable release of patches.

FONV was the last game I purchased on it's release date and what really chapped me about it was that I spent 60 to be a beta-tester. Such is common in the industry nowadays.

I don't work in the gaming industry . I work in an industry that is beholden to codes and standards. We have deadlines too , but if the product needs further testing and development to function properly then the deadlines get pushed.
It should be that way in the gaming industry.

If FONV had been a car it would've killed thousands and been recalled.
If it had been fire safety equipment it would have failed, likely resulting hundreds of deaths and millions in property damage.

Until developers adopt a standard ( or at least a reputation ) for actually completing games before releasing them , none of them will be getting my cash on release day.

That's like saying you can't appreciate a final release game without having played the buggy Alpha version.

EDIT: Still, I will be getting the game asap, because I want to have a go at the mod kit asap

I will appreciate what BGS has done with vanilla Skyrim and will play it and love it immediately. I also appreciate the talent of the TES modding community and will enjoy adding to, enhancing, and supplementing vanilla Skyrim later on, but that doesn't mean that vanilla Skyrim itself won't be a fantastic game right out of the box. I think sometimes our TES community is too quick to condemn an Elder Scrolls game. Sure, they absolutely can be better, but so can any other game. What is rarely mentioned is that TES games can also be much, much worse. As far as I'm concerned, very rarely do I purchase a game which I am continuing to play (vanilla Oblivion/Morrowind) over 5 years later - and still finding new things!

I'm upset enough that I have to wait until November, so there's no way in hell. Depending on how long it takes Diablo3 to come out I may not even end up playing with mods at all.

You should wait 3 years then you can be sure to play it with a compiled list of essential mods.

Having bought the last few BGSF games upon release day, we have decided to wait for the GOTY version.
We expect to have a product worth what we paid for it, and we don't consider bugs, glitches, and having to download patches a fun gaming experience.

Bethesda's history of games on release (both made by and published by)

Buggy as hell for the first month.....I which they would push back the release if they have not had time for testing....i fully expect to have skyrim as a very buggy game when i first play it. Seriously Bethesda you now know alot of people aren't buying your games on release day anymore since they expect it to be buggy? You have a bad reputation now for it.

FONV wasn't made by BGS it was obsidian. FONV was obsidian's first game of that magnitude so mass amounts of glitches on release was inevitable. BGS has a lot of experience with the current generation of consoles and while i do expect skyrim to be buggy on release i don't think it will be SUPER noticeable.

no its more like saying you can't enjoy a stock car before an aftermarket shop adds a whole lot of accessories. it may end up being better in the end but there is no scope of what you did.

You can know your likes and dislikes, you just don't know if they are included in the game or not. Also, it is often the DETAILS that make or break a mechanic. Without experiencing the feature, you can't tell from second hand opinions of others what truly needs to be improved to make it YOUR game.

Except for when you do. Again there are quite a few things people will be missing from the game. And they don't need to experience the magic system to know they want spell making.
