The thread for those that will wait an additonal 6 months to

While I love using mods, there is no waiting for this game. At all. Ever.

I wouldn't last 6 months when the game is right there ready to play.

I like playing the vanilla game first anyways, unless there is a breakable glitch or bug that needs to be fixed.

I think it's necessary to experience the game makers original game before you go and mess with it. Messing with it before you play it is kind of like only having ever seen the newer messed with versions of star wars. You'd have no idea what had been replaced and if it was even necessary for that to be replaced in the first place.

I admire your fortitude, but there's no way I'll be able to wait that long, even though it will certainly be a much better game after 6 months of modding. I'll occupy myself with the vanilla game in the meantime :D

Um by knowing what you like. I kind of expect most people who are capable of purchasing the game to already have a fairly good idea of their likes and dislikes. You don't have to touch the glowing red hot iron every time to figure out that maybe it burns you and you don't really have to go for another touch test.

You are serious?

1) I would like both arms to be independent when dual-wielding so you can attack twice as often.
2) Power attacks from dual-wielding should have critical/bleeding/ignore armor effects combined from both weapons.
3) Also werewolves.

Please tell me oh great time traveller, if these are already in the game or do I need to mod them?

One of the best posts I've seen on these forums. A tiny shred of reason amidst the raging cacophony of crybabies and people already disappointed with a game they haven't even played yet.

1, Cherry picking things we don't know doesn't change the general concept of knowing your likes and dislikes.
2. It isn't hard to wait a day to find out the answer to each of those questions
3. There are things we know about that bother people. HtH not a skill, lack of athletics/acrobatics, no attributes, no spell making, you can't block while dual wielding etc. Hell Xarnac bought an effing computer because he wanted to be able to have a spell making mod, and he knew the xbox platform would not have that. He knows that spell making was his favorite part of the previous games and no matter how cool the current spell casting system is it wont do for him what spell making does. He doesn't have to play the vanilla game to know that, he already knows it. He might play the vanilla game while waiting for the mods, but it is a mod he knows he wants in advance without playing the game.

Depending on how central to your enjoyment the mod in question is would kind of determine if you'd just rather wait for the mod.

Yeah, I bought a gaming PC so modders could fix Skyrim.

Why so many people are upset with the OP? I think it is reasonable. The unofficial patches did a great job with Oblivion. It is not a sin to wait for a 'refined' version of the game, when the most annoying and gamebreaking bugs have been solved.

Not to say but all of the games Betehesda has released has always been better developed and enhanced when the modders have had their way with the game.

I'm not talking about modders adding werewolves, spears and answering to the callout of 'where's my levitation btich!?' I'm talking about general improvements that makes the game more balanced for a more fun and wholesome gameplay.
This will be the FIRST bethesda game where I don't do that i'm glad to say. For once, I don't feel patient enough to let the bugs get worked out.

Well, I'm not going to be waiting on anything (okay, there is a little detail about a new computer since mine is going on 7 years of age : ), but I would imaging it will be at least one year after Skyrim comes out before I play it. Maybe closer to two years. Hard to say. I'm in no hurry.

First, update to new computer. Prolly this winter. Got my fingers crossed and letters already written to Santa. Oh wait, I'm Santa. Okay, skip the letters.

Second, play Oblivion like I'd like to (finally got some great mods out : ) We're talking living, breathing, ya know, actually act halfway active. Hate it when the cities look like ghost towns. Like, dullsville, man.

Third, go back and play/Finish Morrowind (again, finally got some great mods out. Oh, yeah, I forget, the original Morrowind looks and plays so much better : )

Fourth, mmmmmm, gee, maybe play the Fallout series. They looked kinda interesting. Give them a try at least.

Fifth, gotta do Witcher series. Yeah, not open world like Bethesda, but, at least the towns aren't ghost towns.

Sixth, sigh, pretty sure I've forgotten several.

And then, .............. where am I by now?..............okay, I was wrong, maybe more like 2-3 years. Takes me a while to play a game. Life kinda gets in the way. But, hey. Gonna be some rocking mods in 2-3 years.

No big deal. Some like vanilla. Some don't. Life goes on.

you can't appreciate a game full of mods and patches without understanding what it has fixed. your ruining an experience for yourself.
That's like saying you can't appreciate a final release game without having played the buggy Alpha version.

I still haven't forgotten a very significant glitch with the quest for Clavicus Vile in Oblivion. There was no way you could complete the quest without the game freezing up, and it froze every time. Yes, they made a patch for it that was downloaded over XBox live, but you know... that had to have been an embarrassing one for Bethesda, especially considering the shrine to Clavicus is such a short walk from where your character escapes the Imperial City sewer.

I suspect they're having this game much more rigorously tested before release.

You can know your likes and dislikes, you just don't know if they are included in the game or not. Also, it is often the DETAILS that make or break a mechanic. Without experiencing the feature, you can't tell from second hand opinions of others what truly needs to be improved to make it YOUR game.
