The thread for those that will wait an additonal 6 months to

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 9:47 pm

Horse-riding hird-person view and finishing moves are not game-breaking issues for me. I do not intend to wait several months for mods that only fix imo minor details.

I admit it, I have always liked playing the vanilla Elder Scrolls first and have only rarely installed mods. Mostly due to bug-issues. I`m very picky when it comes to mods and don`t want it to alter the game experience to much. For instance I installed a mod for Morrowind that enhanced wildlife such as birds, butterflies etc. But I would never install a user-mod with new quests in Oblivion because it wouold feel out of place. The "Better Cities" - mod for Oblivion have good intentions, and have some really stunning additions, but fails imo when it tries too much and some cities, like Imperial city looks ridicolous. Less is more and subtle changes often the best.

Sure there are lots of great mods out there. The creativeness are overwhelming, and modders are an important part of Elder Scrolls-series. But other than watch their great work on Youtube, I wouldn`t bring it in to my gameworld. I`m sure there are mods I would enjoy, but I rather play the original game than spending time looking for a mod, installing it and testing it out.

As long as Skyrim doesn`t have any gamebreaking bugs, it will take several years before I install a mod. Right now, I don`t have any major issues with the game, and I don`t feel the need to change anything. I aknowledge that others DO want to change things. But there`s no need to start a flamewar and bash eachother. And there`s no need to call people 14-yr old Elder Scrolls [censored] just because mods aren`t their no.1 interest.

The thing that makes Elder Scolls great is the freedom to play the game as you want it incl using mods or not.

Edit: Forgot the most important statement of the post: Yes, I will start playing Skyrim on 11.11.11 without mods :)

It's not like I even CAN get the game on day 1 anyway. I'll need to upgrade my PC to hell and back.

The thing (for me anyway) is why wait 6 months
The patches etc will be along soon enough but that doesn't mean one can't start playing asap

FONV wasn't made by BGS it was obsidian. FONV was obsidian's first game of that magnitude so mass amounts of glitches on release was inevitable. BGS has a lot of experience with the current generation of consoles and while i do expect skyrim to be buggy on release i don't think it will be SUPER noticeable.

Thank you for taking the time to explain things I'm well aware of . I was just using FONV as an example of industry wide problem. Bethesda didn't develop it, but they put their name on it and published it so yes they do bear a portion of the responsibility.

" I will never again spend $60 to be anyone's beta-tester. " Was my main point. Apologies for my inability to be succinct.

( Though I would happily beta-test part time for minimum wage ...or less. )

I'm going to wait until the next Elder Scrolls game to come out before I buy Skyrim. Should be a few mods available by then. What do you think? I'll probably play Lego Batman for about 2 to 3 years until I get bored with it. Then I'm gonna play a exercise game on my wii for the remaining time (about 2 years?). Should help me get into shape and have tons of fun doing it.

Just bought the game yesterday and had my first play two-three hours ago.

Any of you guys remember the constructive criticsm Skyrim had at launch? ; I remember most of the forum posts from the fans were talking about excrutiating bugs and that the game was shipped too early.

A fine game is like a fine wine. You wait for it to mature and then take it out on special occassions.

Thank you Bethesda and thanks to the modder's community for having created mods like Better Quest Objectives and Skyrim Enhanced I can play the game as I always intended it to be played.
